From the very start, the Sutryk & Son team was courteous and well-mannered. The team seemed well trained and were led by a very experienced foreman. They used various employees over the course of the work and all seemed to know what they were doing. When I mentioned small aesthetic issues, they immediately changed the shingles to that I felt was more pleasing to me aesthetically. Their price was competitive, in fact, better than others in the area. They have been in business for 40 years and have available (as of today) a 16-page list of homeowners in the area that may be contacted for recommendations. I would recommend them to anyone and, in fact, recently recommended Sutryk to a neighbor who asked about good roofers in the area. I visited the Sutryk office in Waverly twice before the work started and Steve Sutryk was very helpful in answering all of my questions to the detail technical level in which I was interested.

In fall 2004, Sutryk & Sons installed a roof with a 5 year warranty on a low sloping shed roof addition to my home. The roof developed a slow leak 3 years into the warranty period. A man came out and did some caulking but it did not solve the leak. They claimed the issue must be with the siding above it and refused to do any more. They did not repair the celiing inside. I hired another roofer named Ric to first repair the ceiling. Within the year, it was clear that the roof was still leaking so Rick began to look for the leak. Roof leaks are very hard to find. We both caulked everything we could think of above the leak, to no avail. The pace was slow because the leak was slow though by the fall of 2009 it was serious. We finally put a hole in the ceiling to see where the water was coming from (a hole was already forming and there was mold developing from the all the moisture). It looked like the water was dripping down the electrical cable. With a syringe I shot water around the cable and sure enough, water squirted into ceiling space. When Ric tore off the caulking around the electrical cable, he found lots of voids and worse, Sutryk's installation had left a huge gap in the roofing material around the cable and no flashing around it. A boot should have been installed. Ric applied some heavy duty waterproof caulk around the cable and the leak finally stopped. By this time the warranty period was over. I phoned the company numerous time and sent a letter (Nov 2009) outlining the issues and asking them to make the final repairs even though it was outside the warranty period because I had first called it to their attention well within the warranty period. They did not respond to the letter or phone calls. I thought of taking them to court but that would have entailed even more time and expense. I finally found time to leave this warning here and with the BBB. This company is not the kind of reputable company one would want to deal with. Their poor workmanship was to blame for the leak in my roof that should have been covered under their warranty and they made minimal effort to honor it. To be fair, the rest of the roof has performed well- it was just this gap that was the Achilles heel that caused me considerable anguish and money.
