European Craftsman and Remodeling

We used Anton and his team for remodeling our basement and garage after we had water damage. They put up replacement pieces of sheetrock which looked amazing. Absolutely no lines just perfectly level walls. Their workmanship was outstanding. The owner was on site a lot of the time and his team worked very neatly. The painting was simply outstanding. The room looks like brand new. Pricing was extremely fair especially for such quality, high end work. Anton and European Craftsman will be our only call the next time we need work done. I hired Anton to work on a small, but fairly complicated remodeling job. A partial wall was obstructing my living room and he installed a new beam to open up the space. Throughout the process, he was responsive and communicative to ensure that we were on the same page. The work was done slightly faster than expected and most importantly, the quality of the work was excellent.

Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. Anton did a very nice job cleaning and staining our log home. It had been neglected by the previous owner and needed a lot of work. He also replaced rotted siding on our barn, fixed some significant structural defects and stained it. A nice job and finished in a timely fashion. Anton was here supervising the job all the time. Anton is a first class craftsman and his team is super detail oriented! When he first came into look at the mess we were dealing with he had no worries and had a plan for everything. We worked along side him and I was really amazed with his work arounds and attention to detail. He went above and beyond to keep the entire project under budget and even did more work because he did not like how some things looked. I wouldn’t even bother with anyone else. Anton and his crew are the greatest! We truly enjoyed working with them, Anton is extremely responsive, extremely dedicated, and most importantly, a true artist/artisan. We asked him to use only reclaimed wood and the most environmentally sustainable materials. He researched the best environmentally sound ways to insulate our house (using stone wool and alternatives to Tyvek, which we did not want to use because it's from DuPont) and he made numerous trips farther upstate from our Mid-Hudson house to locate the perfect reclaimed wood at old barns that were being torn down and resold as reclaimed wood. He gut renovated our really skanky old house into a magnificent jewel of post and beam construction to the point that peoples' jaws drop when they walk in.

Exceptional work and totally professional. Everyone who Anton brought onto this job was a great craftsman, and each was polite, arrived early, worked the whole time diligently, and seemed to really specialize in whatever their job was. The level of work is exceptional, the attention to detail really impressive. I work from home, so I kind of had my eye on the guys throughout the job, and just watching them size and cut each piece of siding not only put me at ease, but also taught me a lot about carpentry. The dry wall on the interior is top-grade. I got fussy over paint colors, and Anton was gracious and accommodating with my changes of heart. Anton also has a deep knowledge of historic, reclaimed woods, as well as quite an inventory to pick from. He was so good with the cedar trim on the exterior that I had him frame a painting to hang in our main house in the same style and it looks great. Best of all, they came up with solutions to problems I didn't even know I had, such as how to properly frame the exterior light that I installed myself before they got here (see photos). Please note that the exterior work is not painted in the photos, as it is too cold to paint, so we'll wait until Spring.

Anton, the owner of European Craftsman and Remodeling, has done a lot of work for us over the past few years. He has painted and fixed the entire exterior of our home, repaired our roof, built a beautiful front patio with stonework, and also re-finished our cedar outdoor deck. This man is an absolute top-rate craftsman of the highest order. Every single job that he has done for us has been done with great care, detail, and amazing quality. All of this done with complete trust, no price increases unless there is an impending issue that comes up, and extreme reliability. We have other work that we need done, and there is absolutely nobody else that I will ever call in the Hudson Valley - Anton is our man! We have had nightmare issues in the past finding good carpenters and contractors - they are usually not reliable, do garbage or incorrect work, overcharge, etc so when we found Anton, we were amazed and are now thrilled. If you need something taken care of in your home or want to upgrade some appearance, painting, stonework, repair, decks, I give my highest recommendation to call Anton. Anton and his team did a great job with our home. The guys did high quality work and really made our home look good again. He was very responsive to questions and issues. Requested estimate. The business owner showed up an hour late. He seemed interested, reviewed the project, and was friendly. However, he never responded with a quote - even after an email follow-up and a text message. Seems either unreliable or unorganized.

Had a roof leak for awhile, spoke with him on the phone, and found him to be extremely knowledgeable and willing to help. He came as soon as the weather permitted and was extremely professional. Our roof is now leak free and would definitely use him for future projects.

Anton is an excellent craftsman who pays attention to detail and was involved with my job from start to finish. He told me about everything he and his crew were doing or needed to do. His crew was professional and punctual - every member seemed to me to be experienced and competent. The crew worked hard to clean up after themselves each day they were in my house. They worked overtime to complete the job in the time frame Anton promised me. Anton held to his estimate even though it took more time than he thought. There were surprises - there was more plaster repair than it initially appeared. I think the price I paid was fair, especially after considering the long hours and expertise required to get the jobs done well, I don't think I could have done better. I would hire Anton and his crew again.

They worked very hard and the results were beautiful. They have a lot of talent. The plaster ceiling, which is difficult to work with because it is 12' high, and the walls in that same room were in awful shape and required gallons and gallons of plaster. The tin ceiling needed special care to avoid scratching when scraping off the old paint, and the plaster crown moldings around the ceilings were also difficult because they had curvy edges. Anton and crew did a wonderful job. I would hire them again.

Before we decided to hire Anton's team from European Craftsman and Remodeling to power wash the exterior of our log home and put two new coats of stain on it, we did a good deal of shopping around. Our past experience had taught us that we needed to be extra careful with the professionalism of the painter we wanted to hire. My husband and I received a few estimates and we didn't go for the lowest bid. Instead, we were struck by Anton's professional knowledge and sensed that he was probably the guy we needed. And we were right. Anton was punctual, responsible, and observed the terms of our contract. He made sure that the stain be applied evenly across the log by using a special equipment to spray the surface and the result has been fantastic. Although the Sikkens ProLuxe Cetol stain cost us much more than the ordinary stain, we love the new look of our home and admire the craftsmanship of Anton's team. We will hire them again.

Great! Anton and his crew are skilled and professional. Anton provided a detailed estimate before starting work and along the way as we added additional tasks, so there were no surprises. His prices are reasonable especially given the quality of the work. He was able to schedule our tasks quickly, which we especially appreciated since we had just recently moved in. Anton was present for the entire project and he and his crew are all very courteous, easy to have around and trustworthy. They cleaned up thoroughly after the job each day. Best of all, Anton and the crew are very good at what they do, and they all take pride in their work to please themselves as well as the customer. Also, Anton crafted a beautiful mantle for our fireplace and built it in his carpentry shop. It looks great and is just what we wanted. We recommend this company highly.

Wonderfully. I can't recommend Anton and his crew strongly enough. They came and went full speed ahead with the work. Snags didn't stop them, and I knew there'd be issues because I was really overdue for the new roof.

Anton did the project on time and on budget. He offered his honest opinion about what we needed to do and what we did not need to do. Anton cares about doing quality work and takes a true craftsman's pride in the job. He treated our house respectfully and we completely trust him with our home. I received several quotes from painters and decided to go with Anton because of the positive reviews on Angie's List and his responsiveness. I asked him to work on two rooms; a large family room with a vaulted ceiling and small entry foyer and the kitchen. Each room had it's own challenges. The family room needed some rehabilitation before any painting could be done. The room had cracked and buckled wallboard tape due to settling many years ago. There were also several small holes, many scrapes and nail pops. Anton and his team arrived on day #1 and fixed all of the wallboard issues. They also painted most of the trim and doors. Anton also helped me select the right color for the joined rooms (open concept between the family room, entry and kitchen). On day #2, his team returned to sand down the repairs, clean the walls and ceilings and paint everything else. They also cleaned up and the only thing they left behind was some extra paint for the trim and walls. At the end of day #2, the house looked amazing. His team did a fabulous job and they left our home looking significantly better than it did when they arrived. Their attention to detail was spot on. The trim lines are sharp, the walls are smooth and we are very happy with the result.
