Doctor Soot Chimney Service

They put in a camera on our chimney to check if there is something wrong, they are also informing me if ever that I'll be needing inspection and cleaning in the future, also they are giving advises for do's and don't that I need to follow to maintain a good and functioning chimney.

The work went smoothly and efficiently. I was contacted a few days before the appointment to confirm that they were coming. I was given a time range for arrival and they arrived at the beginning of the range. Work was done quickly and efficiently. Steps were taken to ensure that my living room remained clean. All work to be done was explained fully and all questions answered before work was started. I was well pleased with the results.

Service personnel arrived 1 1/2 hours late. They parked in the throat of the driveway so that the help could not leave for lunch, even though there was parking available for 15 cars. When asked to move, they were surley and said they had not seen any where else to park. They removed the ashes from the wood-burning insert and shined a flashlight inside without removing the insert. They did not clean the chimney from the roof and told me they had cleaned the chimney through the insert without removng it from the firebox (for 30 years former technicians had always pulled out the insert, cleaned the flue and in back of the insert. How one could see anything remotely having to do with the chimney by shining a flasklight through the doors of the insert is beyond me.) They also told me that the insert was poorly installed and we needed a metal liner (the flue is lined with ceramic flue tile and we have never had a problem.) When I questioned them, I was told I had an attitude. I have to admit that by then I was angry. These were scam artists. I refused to pay them and called their office which was apparently unable to reach the service manager. I was told that chimneys can be cleaned from the bottom up. I had used this company for several years, but they must be under new management.

2 hours. We had just bought the home and needed the fireplace and chimney, which was black all over to be cleaned out. They showed up on time, were extremely professional and NEAT!!! There was no trace of soot left when they were done and the interior stones looked as if there was never a fire lit!

The job was performed to our satisfaction. However, I paid $75.00 plus tax for a written estimate with pictures. I never received anything in writing. After they came out initially to give me an estimate, I never heard from them. After a few weeks of calling, they finally made an appointment to come do the job. They told me over the phone at that time, that the job would be $350.00, minus the $75.00 I'd paid for the written estimate, so I could expect to pay $275.00 plus tax. After the job was completed, the gentleman handed me a bill totaling $375.00, with an amount due of $300.00 plus tax. I balked at paying more than I was quoted, and he finally rewrote the bill for the amount I was told over the phone. I had a coupon from ValPak for 10% off, and he said that I couldn't use the coupon, since I was already getting a discount. He said that I was getting a $500.00 job for $350.00. My husband and I thought the company was very unprofessional in trying to collect more than they quoted as the cost of doing the repair.

THEY ARE VERY GOOD. THEY COME EVERY YEAR AND CLEAN MY CHIMNEY. WHEN I NEED A REPAIR, I JUST HAve THEM DO IT. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAIR PRICE. IT WAS OKAY. I DIDN'T REALLY SHOP AROUND. IT SOUNDED FAIR FOR THE WORK THEY DID.

I'M NOT SURE THAT I WOULD USE A CHIMNEY SWEEP AGAIN. I KEPT GETTING SMOKE IN THE ROOM SO THAT'S WHY I REQUESTED A CHIMNEY SWEEP. I ASKED THEM WHILE THEY WERE HERE IF CLEANING IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND THEY THOUGHT IT WOULD. WELL IT DIDN'T AND I WAS STILL STUCK WITH THE BILL. IF THEY WERE PROFESSIONALS THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. AT LEAST THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME.
