Ted Collins Tree & Landscape

Apparently, Ted Collins bought out our lawn maintenance guy's business. We asked our guy several times when he would come to clean leaves, and it was always "next week". After a few snows, we had just about given up that they would show. Then one day without notice, a crew from Ted Collins showed up unannounced. They had 8 guys and finished the job in 40 minutes. We then got a bill for over $500. Seems a bit excessive for 6 man-hours of blowing leaves.

They don't plow in my neighborhood but were very fast and professional in their response.

nice job on the design. downhill from there. First, we got sand in our sunroom from the construction. We had to get it professionally cleaned which, after some discussion, they paid for. Next, they put a dent in our siding that they did nothing about. A year after installation, we had straight line marks on a third of the pavers. Everyone who looked at it said it was unusual. We were told they would come back with a plan, but to let it weather during the winter. When spring came, everyone changed their tune. It was just efflorescence (even tho they admitted it was unusual.) They left us a gallon of cleaner so we could clean it ourselves. That was pretty insulting. After writing letters to the President and the President of the paver distributor, neither of whom responded, a manufacturers rep came over to do the cleaning. He pointed out that the cleaner contained an acid...maybe sulfuric acid...and they didn't recommend that homeowners use it themselves. No one told us that. The cleaning helped, though we still have unusual straight horizontal lines on many pavers and another problem: In a patio less than two years old, we have weeds and anthills coming up through the poly sand seams. We reported this, but heard nothing back. Good riddance I guess. Since we had had good work from them 15 years before on raised beds, we had confidence in their work. Their lack of accountability, responsiveness and the results we had at every step of the project pretty much ended that confidence. Overall, a very disappointing experience start to finish.

Everything was actually good with the exception that it took a very long time, several months, to come out and actually do the service.

They did extra work to avoid damaging surrounding trees, That took a little extra time but it was well worth it.

The mowing was fine. We have no complaints. Could have been better, but overall the mowing got done and was reasonably well executed. The sales person we worked with was unprofessional, making promises and then not keeping them. Taking days, sometimes weeks to respond to emails, and just in general providing bad customer service. I would never ever consider working with this salesperson again. If I behaved the way he did at my own job I'd have been fired years ago. We were prepared to pay for landscaping, as well as the weekly mowing and plowing in the future, but after the experience I had with the salesperson here we will be looking elsewhere.

I received several estimates and in my opinion Ted Collins was the only service that knew how to safely handle this tree. The entire crew worked efficiently and expertly. The precision that was required due to power lines, and landscaping was excellent. The tree was over 60 years old and had a large trunk that was split and needed to be removed quickly before causing a power outage or injuring anyone that could be walking nearby when it finally went. I would gladly use recommend Ted Collins.

... when VERY well... job was done when expected and they have us on their call list to have the treatment done again in 2 years.

They are not the most competitive cost wise but they have excellent quality.

These guys are great! Responsive and on target for what needed to be done. I will definitely call them again.

The tree limbs were hi up and over power lines and a shed so it was difficult work and they did a great job and they gave me a very fair price

In late April 2012 I contacted Ted Collins to replace some bushes that did not make it through the winter and to replace some bushes that ended up not all being the same variety, so the bushes did not match. I started working with a new sales woman to discuss the warranteed items and she was very unresponsive and when they finally sent a crew to my property to do the work after 6 weeks (their policy is to complete warranty work within 2 weeks), they did a horrible job. They left dead bushes in the ground and planted other bushes in what appeared to be random spots. When I discussed the errors with the sales woman indicating the crew needed supervision or they needed to make judgements about their work, she flat out told me she could not possibly oversee all the work that is done on her jobs AND that the crew was not paid to make judgement calls. I am now working directly with the owner. When the owner came to review the issues he indicated he could not understand why the crew had done some of the the things they had done. Whereas the owner has gone a long way to remedy all the errors, their job is still not complete. There is a last small change needed because they planted the wrong grasses and I attempted to contact the owner for 7 weeks with e-mails and voice mails with no response until I told him I was going to file a Better Business Bureau claim. He immediately responded to me since I was going to file a claim. I will never use Ted Collins for any services again.

Their services are very assessable and they call to let you know when they are coming. They do a very good job.

It's a good company. I would say they are not the cheapest by a long shot but they do a very good job. I feel like the work they done for me was worth the money. It was a big job. You get what you pay for.

I have used them before. They are extremely reliable. They do exactly what they tell me they would do. They give the estimates on time. They do not go above their estimates. They have never gone above their estimates for me. They get the actual work done. My overall experience with them has been good.

They do really good work, they know trees well, and they are good about keeping trees healthy. They are always pleasant although not always prompt at getting back to you.

We have a yearly contract with them. They are very prompt in coming out and taking care of things when I call them. They are very efficient.

The people from Ted Collins Tree & Landscape Company are extremely knowledgeable. They installed the landscape for me and they were familiar with it so I decided to call them for this work. They are very responsive and considerate. They are fair priced. I would consider using them in the future.

When we moved into our home, our 1/2 acre yard was one of the first things that we took care of. It was so badly overgrown with dead limbs, trees leaning toward the house and old vines that had wound their way around other trees. We knew we wanted an experienced team that would know how to tackle the various issues in our yard....and not take a long time doing it. Our consultant Jim lives nearby which made it easy to stop by and assess our situation. He was responsive to our needs and connected with our project immediately. The four-man team showed up on time each morning and worked a full day. They were courteous, tidy and efficient- more than 1/2 the yard was complete the first day. They did not leave any equipment overnight and didn't block our street or driveway at any point. The team showed up each day with all the appropriate equipment to transition from high branches to low shrubs quickly. One of the tougher jobs was to extract one of our trees that had grown up and through the branches of our neighbor's tree. Our neighbors wished to keep their tree. The tree team was able to remove our unwanted tree without cutting the neighbor's tree or even setting foot on their property! At the end of each day they hauled away the debris and left us with a pristine yard. There is no way we could have trimmed our largest trees- many of them are over 60 ft tall and thick with branches. This sort of clean-out is best left to the pros- and we're so glad we called. Now, our yard is inviting, open and airy. The neighbors remarked immediately on its appearance and asked who had done the work.

As I expect with any Rochester outdoor work, the project started a few weeks late due to weather. The first crew did an excellent job of removing the tree in spite of threatening rain, and carted all limbs away just as it started to pour. The grinding and plantings went well. We're generally satisfied, because the one company did all of the work, and the way we wanted it done. Two things we would have done differently: used a grass seed/mulch combination ourselves on the restored lawn instead of having Ted Collins just seed (as birds ate most of it), and watered the new shrubs at the bottom instead of the top (there is a water residue on the leaves that won't come off).

When I first moved in, they did some general overall check and yard work. They charged me $2800 for the tree work and the yard work cost me $1000. There was a tree that was leaning against my property for a long time. So, they removed the tree. I had a positive experience with them. They were very professional and punctual. They did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. I couldn?t tell there were on my property to do the work. I will use them again in the future.

They were expensive and the drainage control system was expensive. They worked well. The work got complicated but they would not do anything simpler. The estimate was for about $5000 or $7000. If one has money they are great but if one does not have money they are not. They were very responsive. I will probably not use them in the future.

He was professional, responsive and punctual. The quality of his work was good and I was satisfied with his service.
