Bruce Jones, the installer, did a great job! He was personable and professional, and cleaned up well. I would hire him and Home Depot again!

I would like to tell you about an aweful experience I recently had with Kraftmaid kitchen cabinets sold to us by Home Depot. In 2006, I purchased a full kitchen of Kraftmaid cabinets from Home Depot. Two of these cabinets were 33" wide and to be hung on either side of a window. Flash forward 9 years, and my cabinets are literally coming apart and off the walls. When I called Kraftmaid, they informed me that cabinets this size must be supported with a decorative leg or from the ceiling or they will fall off the wall!!!! According to Kraftmaid, the designer, Home Depot, was responsible for telling me these specs. Never at any time was I informed of this before buying the product. If I had, I would never have bought them! Can you imagine anyone wanting a decorative leg coming down from the cabinet to the counter????? Can you say ridiculous???? Basically, what they are saying is that their product is too cheaply made to support itself on the wall. The cabinet actually pulls away from the back!!!!!! It's basically falling apart!!!! I have spoken to two different managers from Home Depot as well as corporate. I read to them the specs that I am now aware of by Kraftmaid. They were totally unaware of these specs and take no responsibility for not having given this information to the customer. Neither company takes ownership of the problem and blames the buyer for their poor construction and design. They will offer nothing to rectify the problem, and I now have useless cabinets that are coming off the wall. The customer service is deplorable! (It should be noted that these cabinets were professionally installed and anchored to the studs in the wall. In fact the back is still on the wall, the sides are pulling away and tipping forward.) These cabinets should never be sold without at least putting a warning label on them. I was lucky enough to catch it before it fell, can you imagine the damage it would have caused! Be careful about buying any Kraftmaid products from Home Depot and read the warranty very carefully. It is trickily written so that they do not need to stand by their products!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Home Depot designed and sold us a kitchen with Kraftmaid cabinets.

<Note: Since I submitted this review, I called the store and spoke with the assistant store manager, Jeff Burke. He told me that he agreed that I should have had a better experience and is sending me a $25 Home Depot gift card> Worst customer experience in the tool rental department at Home Depot in Victor, NY!!! Scott Hare is the most annoying supervisor/manager I have ever met. Quick background? In the past month, I?ve been working on some home renovations ? refinishing the floors in my living room and front porch and also reframing and adding a new ceiling on my enclosed porch. I have spent approximately $1000 on supplies along with about 15 visits to Home Depot. Most recently, I had rented a floor drum sander for two separate 24 hour rentals. The second time I rented the sander (along with an edger), I had to return it by 9 am on Friday morning. Unfortunately, my daughter had an allergic reaction in the morning which kept her home from school -- and I had to get to a pharmacy to get her some medication. Long story short, I wasn?t able to get the sander back to Home Depot until around 10 am (approximately an hour late). My frustration started when I was at the counter trying to reconcile the payment and the desk employee answered the phone four times before acknowledging that I was standing there. I asked if there was any way they could waive the late fee (a minimum of four hours at a cost of approximately $35). He said that only a manager could do it, so I asked to speak with him ? that?s when Scott Hare came to the counter. Scott explained that I was an hour late which meant that I was going to be charged the extra $35. Here?s how the conversation went (this is very close to being word for word: Me: Is it possible to waive the fee since I am only an hour late? Scott: No, this was a 24-hour rental and you returned it 25 hours later. That?s an hour late. Is there a reason you couldn?t return it in time? Me: Yes, my daughter was sick and I had to get her medication. Scott: Sorry, I can?t help you. Me: But it was only an hour late for a 24-hour rental. Isn?t it reasonable time to waive the extra fee? Scott: No. Me: You don?t feel that my daughter being sick is good enough of a reason? Scott: No I don?t. Me: Are you willing to risk losing a Home Depot customer who just spent thousands of dollars in the past couple weeks for just an hour worth of time? Scott: Yes, I am. Me: Is the poor customer service that I have already received by being ignored while your employee answered the phone four times worth it to waive the fee? Scott: No, it is not. This is when I started to get very furious (and cursed a little). I just couldn?t understand the idea that being an hour late on a 24-hour rental (under the circumstances) was worth losing a customer with all the potential purchases to come. He kept telling me that I was the one that couldn?t understand how a 24-hour rental that was returned in 25 hours was unacceptable. I asked to speak with his manager, and of course, he wasn?t in the building ? his name is Chad Best by the way. Anyway, this is why I am finished as a Home Depot customer. I can only assume that the store manager, Chad Best, has trained Scott to be this rude and inflexible. If they train their employees to be this rigid on their agreements when their own customer service is some of the worst I have experienced, it is not worth it! I?ll drive a few miles further to Lowe?s or better yet, visit the locally owned hardware shop.

We don't like that the doors swell, and don't close properly in the summer, and a couple of the nobs are misaligned. You close 2 doors, and the nobs don't match up side up side, and things of that nature. Their attention to detail was poor. Someone should be responsible for double checking the work before it is signed on for. We weren't aware of the issues until the warm weather set in, and we didn't notice the nobs because it is on one of of the higher cabinets. The punctuality was fine.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen cabinets done by Home Depot.

Rather than fob me off into ordering it on the internet, they picked up the ball, ran with it, and it was delivered in the Boston area within four days -- right in the middle of Black Friday / Black Monday. AND ... after the order was placed, I then realized that I had neglected to mention I was eligible for the 10% military veteran discount (available to all vets). Called them back the next day and the order was rewritten within an hour. No hassle / BS / etc. We vets thank you, Home Depot!
Description of Work: While visiting my daughter in the Boston area, I noted they urgently needed a quality ladder to finish off the interior of their house -- painting, light bulbs, etc. Recalled seeing one I liked at the Home Depot in Victor. Called them, they correctly identified exactly what I needed by interacting on the internet.

I had a lot of problems with them. They ended up quoting me $700 after the guy came and measured, and it was actually supposed to be lesser. They told me a price at the store, and then someone came and measured the door and didn’t mention anything about a price change. I went to pick up the door and the price was more than double of what I had originally agreed to at the store. They did have reasons but it wasn’t explained to me, both at the time when I purchased the agreement and when they measured the door. They still keep calling me every couple of weeks for some reason, and they tell me that they have the measurements for the door and they check with me about when they can come and install it. So I keep telling them that I’ve cancelled it seven times already. It was a real fiasco. I will use their services again in the future for something else but I won’t go back to the door department.
Description of Work: I used Home Depot for door work. I last used their services in July. I was going to get a door installed from them but I ended up canceling it because of all the problems that I’ve had with them.

The plumber was okay and did a beautiful job. I grade Home Depot a D or D plus. They talk a good game but they don't come through all the time. The plumber I give an A. He did well; was prompt, attentive and seemed to know what he is doing. If necessary, I will use him again in the future.

They subcontracted the work but I will never buy a Stanley door again; they had to replace it three times. The work was fine but the door itself was lousy. They were certainly responsive enough to come out and replace it three times.

Wonderful. The individual who placed the door stated that he gets contracted out from Home Depot but nonetheless his work was punctual and impeccable. He was courteous and did the job well and in a timely fashion. Very happy with the overall experience. I did have to pay a little more to have the door leveled appropriately but not much.

The whole installation with Home Depot went smoothly for the most part. They only sent one guy to do the job at first and he couldn't get the carpet in the house by himself. The sales staff was helpful when picking out the carpet.

The main issue with Home Depot was the installation at the beginning. They sent installers who were not qualified. The second group spilled glue, so they sent a third group who replaced one room and fixed carpet that was already coming up.
