OVERALL: The workmanship & installation was awful! Shortly after job was completed we discovered: 1. Company was NOT certified by Mitsubishi to install their systems. 2. Company falsely offered an extended warranty on equipment in contract that could not be honored due to not being certied in the first place. 3. Most workmanship performed was NOT to NYC-DOB requirements or Mitsubishi requirements & high standards. 4. Crew was not of professional quality. Most not skilled & very messy. Job spread over almost two months partly due to people not showing up - leaving early - not working for days etc. 5. System leaked when first turned on in Spring/Summer 2011 - leaking into ceilings, out of the units and down the walls as condensation water was backing up due to NON-DOB compliant defective materials used in a horrific poor quality installation , tubes being installed like a roller coaster with holes etc. Much damage caused to ceilings, walls and belongings. 6. Mitsubishi Mgmt, several other certified licensed professionals and Engineers who came to review installation. All stated it was the 'WORST' they have ever seen! Comments were: 'Monkeys could have done a better job' , 'Who sold them the equipment?', ' Such a botch job', 'Where did they come from?' , 'Shocking', ' Horrific', 'Sad such thieves are not arrested', etc. 7. Example of workmanship: Instead of using copper condensation pipe as specified in plans - they used cheap corrugated 1/2" plastic tubes or plastic clear hose that cracked or was punctured after being pulled over sharp objects in ceilings therefore causing water to leak into ceilings & backup. Condensation lines never hooked up to a drain line - instead it was left dangling in an air shaft to pour water into our Landmark building. Cheap split insulation either not wrapped around pipes or was falling off after 5 months. Metal vent sleeves to connect air handlers to wall never installed. - instead sheetrock box rigged with metal tape which was damp with mildew once exposed. Electrical wires on roof not placed into a conduit to protect from weather elements & the safety of others - instead left dangling loose. Operation & Electrical wires were combined instead of separated. Electrical wiring incorrect and not shielded 18-2. Venting for air return not adequate. Tubes wrapped in black electrical tape as connectors to another tube or hose & falling off! The list of make-shift horrific examples continues & is very long. We took photos and will post them on Angie's List once we learn how to do so. 8. Our Recommendation after several professional observations & reviews: Was to have entire system reinstalled according to NYC DOB CODE requirements by law and according to Mitsubishi specifications. All of what BC-HVAC / Futuristic Controls installed to be removed & replaced! Only the Mitsubishi Air Handlers & Condenser on roof can be re-used. You can imagine our sadness & shock. 9. We are in the process of having an entire and very costly NEW INSTALLATION done during 2012. 10. Four other people we know had the same original contractor/company install their AC systems before us. We learned after experiencing our nightmare that they too also had malfunctions, leaks etc. and chose to hire other companies to do repairs. 11. In our opinion this company should not be in business or operating on any level with Air Conditioning & Heating. It is also our opinion from our experience that they are con-artists masquerading as professionals with skills. 12. FYI: During 2012 we noticed one of their trucks parked in lower Manhattan: . Listed on white Ford van was only the company name of: BC-HVAC INC. Who knows - perhaps they are not using Futuristic Controls anymore because it is now bankrupt from lawsuits. . The van lists: BRYANT, YORK and PURON systems. No mention of Mitsubishi - we assume after being caught by not being certified - they are banned from Mitsubishi. 13. BEWARE: They also claim to be General Contractors. Check for current licenses. 14. Advice: Verify everything from whatever professional you are considering no matter who recommends them. Ask for copies of licenses & check they are legitimate, meet all people who will work on your job & ask for certifications, call the Mfg. & ask if company is certified to install their equipment , make sure all insurances are active , witness the past work they claim to have done, - then light a candle in hope you are getting what you contract them for! 15. SUGGESTION: DON'T WALK - RUN FROM WHATEVER COMPANY NAMES ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COMPANY or individual BRAULIO CUEVAS concerning Air Conditioning & Heating. Perhaps in another trade they will be more competent or once they achieve the proper education and skill. CHEERS to all the honorable professionals in our world! Attn: Braulio - Angie's List may be sending you this review. May you acknowledge the damage, expense, pain & suffering you have caused the people you once considered 'customers' and cease to continue on the road of destruction & misrepresentation. Instead choose something you love to do.
Description of Work: CAUTION: We hired BC-HVAC Inc. - President-Braulio Cuevas / his son Andrew Cuevas (may be listed as owner) - in 2010 to install a Mitsubishi City Multi Ductless Air Conditioning & Heating System. At that time they represented themselves as: Futuristic Controls dba BC HVAC Inc. We understand they have since dropped the Futuristic Control name. Wonder why? Another RED flag. All plans were reviewed, filed, stamped and approved by NYC Dept. Of Buildings (DOB) and Landmarks. Our contract stated all workmanship would be performed according to our stamped DOB plans & they were Mitsubishi certified to install the equipment. This company entered our home and began to proceed with what we learned later was one of the worst installations on record. They cut open ceilings - never vacuumed as they cut or protected belongings with care. Different crew members came and went over an 8-week period (for what was to be a 2-week job) - showing up at different times - not showing up when expected, arriving late - leaving early etc. See the 'OVERALL' section for more details.
