It went great. #1, they came out and performed the work on a day when it was absolutely frigid outside and there was a travel advisory. But they did everything I asked and made sure all work was done to my specifications. Due to a new style of kitchen faucet I picked out, they had to move the deck approximately a half inch forward on the sink. They were apologetic and said they'd change it if need be, but that was completely due to the choice that I made in purchasing the new style of faucet. I was relieved they found a way to install it, and it looks great! Everything was done perfectly.
Description of Work: Needed two faucets installed (kitchen and bathroom sinks) and an extension put on to the water line to my refrigerator. This involved drilling a hole through a cabinet and wall so that the line could reach the refrigerator.

I have been living with a hot water slab leak for over two years, turning the cold water intake off at the hot water tank when the hot water was not in use. My delay in getting it repaired was due to budget constraints, but it was also due to lack of responsiveness and interest from the handful of other area plumbers I had out to give me advice. It seemed that the first thing anyone wanted to do was dig up the slab to attempt to find and then patch the leak (no way!!) or run the pipes through the attic where they'd undoubtedly freeze. When I discovered the drain line running into the slab from the washing machine was also broken, I knew that it was time to bite the bullet and get something done. I looked on Angie's List and found RFC Contracting had positive reviews, so I decided to give them a call hoping to find a more creative solution. Bob came out the next day to have a look, told me what he thought could be done, had an estimate to me by that evening, and the work was done within a few weeks to my specifications. (It would have been done sooner if my schedule and pocketbook had permitted. On a side note, before I was ready for them to start the big job, they came out to replace a faulty drain pipe running from the bathtub---this cost me $250 and was worth every penny. That had been leaking too unbeknownst to me.) The day that they started rerouting the lines, Bob and Art and Kris each separately called me on the phone at work to keep me updated on the status and to relate their exact plans. It took two days for them to get the work completed. In the end, the hot water lines had been rerouted to the kitchen sink, bathtub, and bathroom sink; this was done by running PEX pipes flush to the ceiling, through walls, and even around one doorway. This was accomplished with very minimal drilling through the drywall. The drain line in the kitchen/laundry room was replaced with PVC pipe and rerouted through a nearby external wall to the sewer line in my back yard. (Genius!) All of the work was done neatly and at a fair price---all involved were polite and prompt and professional from start to finish. Needless to say, I am very pleased, and I would not think of hiring another plumber for any job big or small after my experience with RFC Contracting. Major kudos.

I used the scheduling option on the Angie's List website and received a call to confirm a time within a couple hours. Work was done quickly and most importantly, the issue was resolved. (He removed the water filter that ran from our well to our water softener. The water was so hard, it gunked up the filter, reducing the amount of water that could pass through.) I also asked about replacing the water softener but he said he didn't do those and gave me the name of another company who does. I appreciated the honest answer. I will definitely be using RFC for any future plumbing issues.

The plumber showed up early which was nice. Free consultation and explaination on what would be expected and estimate of cost. Basically what I wanted to isolate was a leak i been experiencing in a downstairs bathroom whenever upstairs bathtub was run. He assured me that the tub needed chalking and that doing so would most likely fix my problem. He did make me aware of the trap being installed incorrectly causing water to slowly drain from the tub and said its not causing problems now but may cause problems and need to be snaked in the future. He recommended replacing it correctly. I agreed to have him perform his recommendation and he was here the next day. It took him 1 and a half hours to do the job but he had very little room with which to work and had to cut galvanized pipe so i thought that was reasonable. He recommended a product to clean hard water stains on my bathroom wall. All in all I was pleased though I found it to be pricey. The work performed though was neat and conviently performed. I would use again and recommend to a friend.

.The men were very prompt with replacing the first toilet, but had an emergency arise elsewhere, so there was a slight delay in installing the second (they did call and apologize for the delay). After they installed the first toilet in the downstairs bathroom, I asked if they would change the plan for the upstairs and install a higher toilet, as I have arthritic knees. They did so, with no complaint. I had been afraid that replacing old, much higher toilets would perhaps be a problem with changing pipes and could cause leaks. They assured me that there would be no problem, and to date, there has been none. They did their best to limit dust from the project and were fairly successful. The only issue I have had is that the downstairs toilet flushes sluggishly, but there is a problem with water pressure in that bathroom. I would certainly use RFC again.

They were fine. He gave us a couple of recommendations where he said they could try clearing it out but there’s no guarantee that it won’t clog up the way that it did before. He was pretty straightforward about. He didn’t try to sell us something that we didn’t need or want. He was very professional. He always had other people here doing work. He asked on the phone about non-work related issues. His boss came by while he was here to see how things were doing so we were impressed by that. He paid attention to what was going on and what people were doing. He was always very professional and stayed on top the entire time he was here. He didn’t try to get more money. We were referred to this company and we were happy with the service we got. The price was fair and I don't think we got overcharged. He explained everything that he was doing while he was doing it. I don’t know how long they’ve been in business but they seem to be expanding because I see their vehicles around more and more so they must be doing well.

After insurance gave me the go ahead, I called a plumber. I had never used a plumber before and picked this company blindly out of the Yellow Pages. The receptionist who answered the phone was very nice, and booked the appointment. The day of the appointment the owner called and said he was backed up but had not forgotten me. He said it might be the next morning due to all the frozen pipes. I stated I had been without water going on three days. Within a half hour one of his plumbers called and told me he was on the way. The plumber explained what he was going to do, what materials he was going to use and why. He was quick, efficient and cleaned up after his job. He did a little extra while he was there. Although no plumber is never cheap, the cost was less than I was expecting and what the insurance company allowed. I am planning on using them in the future for some other plumbing problems I have

When I discovered I had a problem and water damage from my hot water heater upon returning from vacation, I called and they had someone out to take a look in about an hour. When it was apparent the hot water heater was gone, the team on site made phone calls to get another hot water heater and had it delivered to my home almost immediately and then hooked it up. They explained what happened and helped me provide the details to my insurance company. They were very helpful and patient as I was a little upset at the damage to my basement. The response and professionalism was great.

I had arranged with the RFC scheduler, that someone would come to my home between noon and 4 PM. At 4 PM, the man called to say that they had been tied up with another job and asked whether I wanted someone to come that evening or to wait until the next day. I said that all I currently wanted was information, which wouldn't take long,so he sent a young man. The man checked the problems with the toilet and told me that, since it was an old toilet (1930s), it would be difficult to get parts and that I should check on the internet to see if I could procure them from somewhere. He also told me that replacing the toilet would be quite a project, as to remove it would involve cutting into the ceiling below, because the toilet would've been attached to a wooden platform and sealed with lead, which would have to be removed. There might also be issues with pipe connections, as new toilets are smaller than the old ones. I told him I would see what I could determine re parts, and would re-contact RFC, when I have information/parts. I have contacted Koehler, who want me to send pictures to them of the toilet, which I will now do. I was not charged for the visit, and the young man was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I will contact them again, as I was pleased with the information.

Overall, things went well. Although the work and price doubled, if you saw how old the pipes were you would have agreed that they all needed to be replaced....If I did not do it then, then I would have had to call them back in the future and ripped everything up again. Would I call them again? Definately.
Description of Work: My call was prompted by a drip in the basement from the main plumbing stack. I knew this would be trouble based upon the age of the pipes....I call RFC plumbing and they responded immediately taking a look and estimating $1,000 for replacement of the old iron pipes up to the ceiling of the basement...there were a number of joints whose seals were deteriorating. Well, because of the age of the pipes (this is always a problem with old plumbing), all did not go well and the pipes had to be replaced from the entry into the basement (luckily the sewer main was not embedded in concrete) and up through the two story house to the upstairs bathroom all the way to the tub and toilet. Given the age and frail nature of the pipes, the newly estimated cost of $2,000 was not unreasonable. This included repairing the bathroom floor (its nice to know that this plumber has skilled carpenters to repair any damage done while fixing the pipes). Robert's was always pleasant and polite even when things went south and his workers were professional and polite also. They cleaned up and the repairs made to the floor that was torn up were better than when he started (and the toilet leak was fixed in the process). .

The whole experience was very pleasant. Bob is very professional and easy to get along with. He is very responsive, in person and with returning our phone calls. He personally came out to look at the work and gave us a competitive estimate. Even though we added more work on to the initial project, he and his crew were very agreeable to extending the time. All of the work was done with very high quality. I especiaally like the fact that he came out to look at the projects and give an estimate, rather than (like the other contractors i spoke to ), giving a ballpark estimate over the phone.
Description of Work: We had several moderate plumbing repairs done in both bathrooms and in the basement. Beyond that, we added new toilets, sinks, vanities, and cabinets. Bob suggested we run another water line out to the backyard, and we did. There was some drywall patching in the kitchen ceiling and both bathrooms. When we found a leak still in the basement, his crew returned within 2 days and repaired it free of charge.

I needed to remove the very old fixtures from my upstairs bathroom. The toilet was constantly running and needed to be replaced. The sink was cracked and the tub needed to be replaced. Scheduled an appointment with Robert for an estimate. He was very prompt and his price was fair. He and his team showed up when they said, they covered areas of my house so it wouldn't get dirty and did the job fast and efficient. The final invoice was just a bit higher than estimate and that was only because there was another issue that had to be addressed and resulted in more work. Again, the price of that was more than fair. I would definitely hire them again. In fact, I already have! I'm having them remove an old kitchen sink with one drain and replace it with a three-section stainless steel with 2 drains and a garbage disposal.
Description of Work: Had hired RFC to do plumbing work in my upstairs bathroom. Replace toilet, tub and vanity.
