I really liked the electrician from Ambrose Electric (Dennis, I think). He carefully assessed the situation, checking out the cable going into the meter box outside, and then from the meter box into the house. He found age-related wear in the old seal above the meter box, and in the old seal where the cable enters the cellar, which allowed water into the cable casing. He also found as a small hole in the cable casing at a different spot. He told me water gets in these places, then flows inside the cable casing like it is in a hose, right into the cellar and the service panel. Then the electrician checked the electric service panel itself in my cellar, saw where the water was dripping in at the top (following the cable inside), and onto the circuit breakers, and pooling in the bottom of the box. He checked to see if it looked like this was a problem that had existed for a long time and had caused damage, looking for rust at the bottom, or corrosion. He pulled out a couple of the breakers and checked them too. Luckily for me, we caught it early, before there was corrosion which can be potentially dangerous. He said if I made the simple fixes to the cable seals and nicked cable he told me how to do, and kept an eye on it the next times it rains hard, it should be fine. I really appreciated how quickly the electrician got here to check out the situation, to alleviate my concern of potential danger. And I really appreciated the fact that he diagnosed the problem and told me a pretty inexpensive and quick way to fix it, without trying to sell me on the most expensive possible solution (e.g., replacing the whole electric box), as some contractors do.

They were excellent in finding out it was a dead leg. They called our supplier as they felt the fault was in the wire outside under ground. It was a Friday night and instead of leaving me with no electricity over the weekend, they re-wired the system so we would have lights and a refrigerator. Found out it was the suppliers fault. They came back and re-wired everything. With some guys, they could have really played it up and cost me more money, but Ambrose was honest, professional and explained everything to me as they went along. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Half the lights in our house went out then came back on in a brown out flickering on and off. Didn’t know any electricians, but found Ambrose here. Called and they were here within 30 minutes.

Never got a return call after several attempts.
Description of Work: We had 3 different electrical jobs to be done in our home and called multiple times, left several messages with answering service and also emailed for an estimate. We had one phone call and was told they would get back to us but never heard back from them.

We called this electrician based on reviews we read here on Angie's list. I called on Monday 8/11/14 at 3:40pm and left a message with an operator at the answering service. I was told that we would get a callback when they returned to the shop that evening. When we did not get a callback by the next day, my fiancé called on Tuesday 8/12/14 at 10:15am, and again left a message with an operator at the answering service. He called back 2 minutes later to make sure they had our correct phone number. He was told again that we would get a callback that evening when someone returned to the shop. As of today, which is one week from our first phone call we have not received any response from Ambrose Electric. We had numerous electrical issues that we wanted looked at. I would not recommend this company.

They determined the fixture was the problem. Although they don't repair fixtures they took it down for me and returned to re-install it. They came In record time and were great.

Service went very well. The electricians were quick and professional. They made certain that the TV didn't lose power for too long (satisfying my children), and the whole job went off without a hitch. Very pleased with this professional.
