On 4 June I had a new roof put on the house. Unfortunately, the installers trashed my TV antenna against my instructions. The company was apologetic and would pay for replacement plus installation. Installing TV antennas is nearly a lost art these days as nearly everyone but me has cable, fiber-optic, or satellite. I like my antenna because it doesn't have a monthly bill. The chore was finding an installer who could come reasonably quickly and replace what was there. Dave was able to show up on 8 June. The antenna he brought was new digital technology (very good). The rotator was analog and considerably inferior in resolution to the digitally controlled Channel Master I had before (not so good). He forgot the preamplifier. We assembled everything on the ground and he hauled it up to the roof. He ran new RG-6 cable from the antenna into my 4-way basement splitter. When we switched on the living room TV it did work, but not in the kitchen (needed the preamplifier). We had rain and logistic delays (the preamp had to be ordered), but Dave showed up on 17 June with the preamp and installed it on the mast. After he'd left, I noticed it was incorrectly fastened to the mast (the connectors should be on the bottom - pays to read the directions), so I gave Dave a call the next day. On 18 June we had rain. On 19 June Dave came back and re-fastened the preamp to the mast so the connectors were on the bottom (rain can't get in). He was apologetic. Bottom line: I'd have much preferred to do this myself, but I'll be 67 soon, and the roofing company wouldn't allow it because of liability. As a retired electrical engineer I'm keenly aware of what's required. I now have a lot of over-the-air TV channels, no monthly bills, and no spats between providers and distributors disrupting service when some party wants more money. Dave is a good guy, you just have to get his attention and stay on top of things. I think he learned new skills with this job. I listed the phone number I used to contact Dave above. His business card and receipt list: 631 667 9473 and 516 433 9473 respectively. Those may be old numbers, but I wanted to be complete.
Description of Work: Replaced a rooftop TV antenna, mast-mounted preamplifier, rotator, mast, tripod, and RG-6 cable from antenna to basement splitter.
