If you want to experience what it feels like to encounter a company that lacks professionalism, accountability and respect for your personal property, please call Thomas, the owner of Uptown Sewer and Drain, and he will rise to this horrible occasion in full ignorant effect. Thomas was referred by another plumber to resolve a sewer blockage issue in my home. The horror started when he began moving my file cabinet in an aggressive way and scratched up my hardwood floors. This nightmare further escalated in his failure as a sewer professional to effectively troubleshoot the location of my main sewer line. He insisted, based on his years of sewer experience, that my main sewer/trap was buried in the ground in the front of my house, and he needed my permission to break up my wood floor to locate it. Against my better judgment but trusting that he was the sewer professional, I agreed with his assessment. Well after 2 hours of destroying my property in search of a buried trap, he discovered that the pipe was not in the front of the house. Thomas’ failed results then led him to simply ask me where my water meter was located because typically sewer mains are found in the same location, a fact that I later discovered. When I showed him, he found the main sewer at the side of my house since I reside at a corner property. At this point (almost 4 hours later),Thomas blamed me for not knowing where my main sewer was located and he took no accountability for doing unnecessary, damaging work to my home/floors. His many years of sewer experience and daily work in this field did not seem to matter. I was responsible for his destruction because according to him as a homeowner I should know my sewer main location. Although his company is named Uptown Sewer and Drain, Inc., somehow I became the expert in locating a sewer line since this is my line of business and thus bread and butter. While he did clear the blockage, this terrifying ordeal ensued even after his obvious mistake. He went to add salt to my wound by charging me $950 for his deplorable work with no consideration for my broken floor. I then told him that I would pay him $550 since I have to fix my floors. Thomas responded that he would only accept $600 or I could keep the $550 payment (an ignorant response at its best). Another plumber who I called to mediate this horrific situation offered to pay the $50 difference. This is when Thomas said he will only accept the $50 from me (more stupidity responses continued). Needless to say he refused to give me a receipt (more unprofessional behavior erupted in addition to him screaming and raising his voice at me) and he grabbed the $550 out my hands (finally the night ended with more inappropriate and unprofessional behaviors). I took the time to write this review in hopes that no one will ever experience this avoidable sewer service nightmare. Thank you for reading this lengthy message to all my fellow concerned homeowners looking to avoid this sewer company. I just want to protect you. Sincerely your new sewer line expert

I clean the sewer line in my house annually. I have tried other sewer cleaning companies that were much cheaper. The last person to clean my sewer for me is Thomas of Uptown Sewer and Drain. I like him for the following reasons: He was prompt. He did not give me a 4 to 5 hour time window and showed up on time. He seemed honest. He did not try to push other services that was not needed.
Description of Work: Main sewer cleaning (both directions)
