+ -1 moreThe church building is a NY State Landmark, built in 1852 by the architect of Trinity Church, Wall Street New York. Richard Upjohn. The wrong kind of paint (applied beginning in the 1960s) caused water to be trapped behind the paint surface, literally dissolving the masonry and seeping into the foundation. The entire floor had to be taken up in order to rebuild the foundation. Then much of the exterior brickwork had to be replaced and repointed. Rick Finley of Creative Stonework collaborated with the structural engineer to devise the best ways of doing the work. He did a beautiful job on every part of the work. Had many creative solutions. Worked quickly, supervising his assistants. I would recommend him for any historic building--or a regular building! Wonderful to work with.
Description of Work: Rebuilt the foundation of our church, St. Thomas, in Amenia, New York. Then repaired and repointed the masonry and stonework.
