Description of Work: A part that controlled the blower on a vented gas room heater went. The heater was installed in 1981. They were able to locate the part that was needed withing a week and came back and replaced the part. The serviceman was knowledgeable, professional and cordial.

Description of Work: We currently have a heating contract with them, but they responded quickly to repair a leak in our AC, technician was knowledable, prompt, and thorough. We were pleased with the service call and will certainly use them again.

Description of Work: I contacted Gelber & Sons through the Home Show to set up an estimate for ductless air conditioning. I had contacted them previously, and they failed to return my call, but I gave them a second chance. This time, they appeared to be more attentive and scheduled me promptly. Jordan always arrived on time, and was professional in his visits. I even signed up with them. Something never sat right with me though - there were a lot of excuses and delays in receiving the quote, because he needed to "check with his dad," and "we are very busy right now." I ended up breaking my contract during my three day grace period because he failed to call me when promised to set an install date. Usually, a company fails to communicate after the install and when the problems begin, but before... it just sent up a red flag for me that they might be too busy to service me as a customer. This lack of communication caused me to get an immediate estimate from another company who gave me an equivalent deal with better service and a better installation timeframe. I had no ill will towards them, but before I could explain my cancellation, I received a very nasty, unprofessional email from my sales rep, telling me that I was a liar, and that I disrespected him. After I saw that lack of professionalism, I would no longer recommend them to anyone, and it confirmed my suspicions that they would not be a good company to get involved with.

Description of Work: I got several estimates a few years ago for installing a central air conditioning unit in my house, including one from Stan Gelber and Sons. I was in the process of adding on an extension and figured that "now" was as good a time as any to have central A/C installed. Besides the A/C, I was also looking to heat the extension. Several of my neighbors recommended Stan Gelber to me so I set up an appointment for a estimate with them and spoke with Brian. I was impressed with both the price as well as my confidence that they were a solid professional company and that the job would be done right. I understood that if was a family business that was in operation for several generations and I trusted them. I was not disappointed. The crew was professional, polite and clean. I had a radiant heating system installed also for the extension area that also works wonderfully. No more baseboards to worry about "yea". I usually (always) don't like others working on my house and like to do things myself and I do so if I can so I am very fussy. I told Brian that I was planning on putting in a new bathroom in the extension and that the radiant heat installed in there would have to wait until that project was further along. Needless to say, it took me a few years longer than expected to get to the bathroom project but when I did, I called Brian and hoped he remembered me. I guess I left an impression because he did and without and problem, set up an appointment with me to finish radiant heat at no extra cost. I never really had any doubt or worry that they would comeback even though it was so long ago because of their history and reputation which they lived up to wholeheartedly. I also had a hot water tank installed by them later on and it works perfectly. We never run out of hot water anymore. I have reccomended Stan Gelber and Sons to friends who also had central A/C installed and were very satisfied too. I don't remember exactly what i paid for everything but at the time felt it was very fair. More important I think is that the job is done right which it was and I will continue to reccomend them to others. This latest incident is just so above and beyond to me that I felt obligated to share.
