When I called and said my hottub had shut down, they came the very next day. They got it running and explained to me what the problem was and gave me some advice on how to keep it from happening again. The employee was on time, professional and courteous. He made sure to bring a variety of parts so that he did not have to make a second trip.

It was the worst ordeal I have ever been thru with any Company or project.
Description of Work: They have a wonderful sales pitch, require extreme amount of money upfront, then they are horrible of showing up and following thru with what they say. The contract is the most misleading contract I have ever signed. The quality of the work horrible. Absolutely rude and arrogant after they get your money. I had never owned a pool so knew nothing about anything. I explained this many times. Then every time something went wrong (which was so many times) they said it was my fault because of where I was placing the pool . They never explained any of these problems to me in the beginning. I would have been open to suggestions. Remember I have never owned a pool, let alone installed one. So which I had shopped around and had gone to Johnsons Pools In owego. Nothing ended up being included in the price they gave me. Which they kept telling me oh we have been doing this for years we will take care of it all. They never called the propane company to see where underground line was before they dug. they never called NYSEG to see where underground cable was before they dug. They said my responsibility. But no one ever told me I had to do this. I had to contact an electrician who then had to try and coordinate with them. He even had problems with them. Again was never told I had to get my own electrician. Additional cost never told about. Had to find my own water company to fill the pool. Again never told of cost. concrete around pool was additional never told. I signed for an $18,900. full install inground pool. I ended up paying $32,862.00. Then to be treated as rudely as I was. Never returning my calls. Horrible company.

Terrible. Started late, never finished, equipment doesnt work.
Description of Work: This company started the job 3 months after promised and never finished the job. The pool heater they supplied still does not work. They have billed me 3 times for work not completed (completely false billing). They acknowledged that I paid their subcontractor for work that was never done and that they have the $2,333.00 that was paid in February 2012 but are still charging me interest on money that they claim I owe. The subcontractor never contacted me again and refused to complete the work paid for and refused to refund my money. Stay far away from this company!!@!!!!!!!!

A technician came over and spent about ten or fifteen minutes looking at the pool and taking pictures with his cell phone. A few weeks later, he finally called and said that the boss had looked at the photos and "didn't feel like taking on such a big job." I said in a reasonable tone that that was not satisfactory and asked if the boss could please call me. When he didn't, I called the company direct several times in hopes of speaking with him. He never returned my calls, but after almost a month, sent a curt form letter. The upshot is that if Royal Pools has a very dubious business, as far as I am concerned, taking money for estimates and then, lo and behold, losing interest in the work and refusing to supply a serious proposal for it.
Description of Work: This is a company of which you should beware. I wish had steered clear of it. After being told that Royal Pools charged 124.00 for an estimate, I thought it rather odd for it to cost so much -- most estimates are free, after all. Furthermore, the person on the telephone told me that the amount could not be applied to the work, should I ultimately contract it. (A technician later said just the reverse; I don't know which policy is correct.) In any case, I should have hung up, but I have a fiberglass pool that needs work and booked the estimate.

I was the person that she spoke with regarding scheduling an estimate for a pool repair. She was very adamant about having the pool brought back up to speed as it had sentimental value to her. Yes, we do charge for estimates - that is our company policy. All estimates are credited back to the customers account if they decide to move ahead with a job. I did not tell her that this was not the case. I have worked at Royal for 12 years and know our policy well. If a customer is not comfortable with paying for an estimate they should shop around and make their decision accordingly. After my service person examined the pool and we started putting the numbers together for a repair it became obvious that she would be throwing good money after bad by trying to repair this pool. There was no guarantee that the cost of this repair would not spiral out of control. It would have been a much sounder financial decision to install a new pool and equipment that would all have warranties covering them. I personally wrote the response to her and was actually trying to advocate for her. We would never want a customer to invest money in something that would prove to be heartbreaking in the end. I was surprised that she found my response to be curt as this was never my intention. Our decision to advise on a new pool purchase was a serious proposal. The messenger should not be shot just because the outcome is not pleasing to the customer. We where honest in our reply and would hope that customers would appreciate this.

We did a LOT of shopping before choosing a pool and contractor. We decided that fiberglass was the only way to go, and chose Jay's company based on other positive feedback we'd read on the internet. We're glad we did. From start to finish we have nothing but the best things to say about this company and our experience. Jay and his wife Marilyn both came out to do the site inspection. We were impressed with their unhurried approach as they reviewed the job with us. They asked a lot of questions and presented a lot of information to make sure they understood our needs and that we knew exactly what we were getting. I know others who have run into unexpected surprises over the course of a pool installation. That's not going to happen with Jay. Jay and his company have been in this field for a long time and it shows. The finished installation is GORGEOUS and service after the sale has been outstanding.
