Description of Work: Contacted about septic problem. He stated that I needed to be "precise" about problem and use "proper" terminology. Having not dealt with a septic problem in the past, especially an older system I guess I did not properly research terminology. Despite being a Chemical Engineer, with a BSChE, MSChe, and an MD, JD; I guess we did not cover septic in school. I was not a Civil Engineer, who we shared a building with and always smelled like sewage. I never expected a patient to be "precise", and describe in exact medical terms about their symptoms, and tried to understand their problem. Maybe had an off day but will not contact again. Do not talk down to a client. I am sure that your education has a PhD in sewage and septic systems, but don't expect everyone to know the terminology about a 40 year old holding tank with an attached "well", that;s why I am calling you. Res Ipsa Loquitor.

Description of Work: I was very pleased with the service and professionalism of Northrup. I had a difficult to find septic tank that needed servicing and certification and despite having to come back three times, I was charged nothing extra. They also helped me find an expert needed to find the septic tank. The work was done quickly, I was offered great advice, and the price was more than fair. Northrup is a small business that will get more of my business in the future!

Description of Work: Unfroze a pipe that runs under our driveway to pump the septic across to the field on the other side of yard. Had to locate the problem then find a solution. They tested the pump,electrical connections etc. Price included bringing in heavy equipment to help dig the frozen ground which he cleared with me the night before. Very cost conscious and did a great job! Price is from memory but paid for both contractors Northrop plus machinery to dig

Description of Work: Mr. Northrup took my information and set a time to come out. He arrived on time and got right to work, taking a great deal of time to diagnose a complicated problem with my septic system despite a biting cold wind today. The problem will require more work for a permanent fix but he pumped the tank and snaked the system to allow my family use of the bathroom in the meantime. He and his associates provided detailed information on the nature of the problem and gave advice on how to manage with it in the meantime. I would highly recommend Northrup Septic Service to anyone.

 + -1 moreMy husband and I are new to having a septic tank (we've been in our home for a little over a year and aren't highly familiar with the systems yet). I called Northrup Septic to get an estimate/to schedule our tank to be pumped. After speaking with him for a few moments, he HONESTLY advised that we did not need to pump our tank yet (given the tanks history/last pump, amount of people living in our home, etc.). I am so happy to see that there are still honest, reputable service individuals out there! He could have easily taken my money and scheduled the unneeded service. We WILL be calling him when do need our tank serviced - I highly recommend. Honest, highly educated about septic systems, punctual and professional!

 + -1 moreAfter having called another septic service(see my review of Acme Septic here on Angie's List), I found Mr. Northrup thought the List. He returned my initial call promptly, made the appointment immediately for the following week, etc. While this might seem to be the most basic expectation, given the experience I've had with others in this line of work, his extraordinately polite and professional manner were most welcome and certainly notable. Mr. Northrup is fantastic. Straightforward, competent, punctual professional. He came exactly when he said he would, he did exactly what he said he would do, the yard is put back together. The price was within the range of what I've paid for this service in the past. My highest recommendations--and I will call him again and again.

 + -1 moreEven though it was a Saturday afternoon, he agreed to come to my house and look things over and drain the tank. When he arrived he recognized that the problem was more involved. He did his best to find an alternative to replacing the system. In the end he agreed to empty the tank at my request, and left me with the names of some contractors who he believed were reputable. He put a couple of hours on a late Saturday afternoon into evening diagnosing the problem. He was honest, straightforward and a very nice man. I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: My septic system failed and I called a couple places. Mr. Northrup was the only one to respond in a timely fashion. He did his best to diagnose the problem and present a solution. He dug in a number of places and came to the conclusion that the problem was not the tank but out in the grounds. He covered everything back up to protect my dog and gave me four names of people he felt could do the work I needed performed.
