William Surprenant / W.J.S. Masonry presented me with a contract to remove my front porch and replace it with a new concrete textured landing and front porch. We both signed the contract he took a deposit check from me for $1900.00 removed most of my front steps. William told me he need to go purchase supplies left and never returned. William did cash my check yet never returned my calls, emails, text or $1900.00. Another wonderful August day and William Surpenant has not shown up to to the job he has been paid for.

Very pleasant and nice presentation.. DO NOT TRUST HIM! I explained the small project to William and he understood what needed to be done. My wife and I were going away on vacation and he said that the step replacement would be completed when we returned. I also went through Cataract surgery and William said "I promise it will be done when you get home or before your surgery" I signed the contract on July 2nd of this year. We still do not have the replacement stairs (8/5/14) and still have the refuse on our front lawn. As well as the spoiled 21 bags of concrete, which is also on our lawn. I paid him over $2100 in advance for labor & cost of replacement stairs. The replacement was ordered, but never paid for. I now have to take legal action to recover my initial payment and pay the stair manufacturer for the stairs! IF ANYONE NEEDS MASONRY WORK DONE, DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!!!! William Suprenant agreed to fix my chimney. His signed proposal states, "I propose to remove all brick and clay flu's on the Front chimney. I will remove it down to the roof line. I will also remove all the tar and old flashing. I will reuse all brick that are not detiorated or covered in tar. Once removed and cleaned I will relay and re flash this chimney to the original height....etc". He did replace the top of the chimney, but the first four layers of brick starting at the roof line are broken, crumbling and deteriorating. He took a new piece of flashing to cover the old crumbling bricks and built the chimney up using the old crumbling bricks as it's foundation....major safety hazard. I have a police report and plan to take him to small claims court. for $1600. He told he he can't afford to give me my money back. I told him I would work with him on a payment schedule and he said he would call me back...He never did. He is still paying a pretty penny for running his advertising in local papers, so he can't be that broke. Now I am proceeding with consumer advocate watchdogs, such as Angie's list, BBB & Atty General. He also installed a concrete landing and removed old concrete steps for $600. The concrete landing was too small and my husband and I had to remove it ourselves. So, we took a bath on that too. During the processes of making this concrete slab, he used our lumber from the front porch that we were using for inside renovations to pour the concrete slab. When he removed the old concrete steps he used our dumpster for the concrete debris. Dumpsters are expensive and you pay by the weight. We needed that dumpster for other construction debris....NOT concrete! My husband jumped inside the dumpster and removed all of their discarded concrete debris. He also did a job for a friend of mine and told her he needed $40 for a tarp to put over her unfinished chimney. She paid him and he ended up taking a tarp from her own backyard to cover her chimney. This guy is a player. I have photos, police reports, the WJS proposal, and my proof of payment to back up my story. Apparently, this William changes the name of his business frequently.
