This was not the first (or last) time I have had Quackenbush & Haegele come to the rescue. The following are the actual facts. 12/3/21 I received a call from one of my tenants (3:15 pm) telling me there was no heat in the apartment. After checking out the situation and determining that the fix was beyond my skills, I called Eric at 3:32. I explained the situation and told him what I had tried. Eric said he would get to me (as there was NO heat) soon. I told my tenant to let me know when Eric arrives. I walked out the front door and there was Eric ( and his assistant ) asking me which furnace was in trouble. We went in the basement where he pulled out a part from his pocket. 5 minutes later the furnace is up and running again. There have been no problems since. How can one not give 5 stars?

The greatest value to me in this instance was the responsiveness of the company. Always a concern when hiring a plumber. I recently bought this house. On the day day of the closing, at the final walk through, the compression tank attached to the boiler system was leaking profusely. A nuisance, but not worth delaying the closing. I called Quackenbush & Haegele and they came early the next day to remove the old tank and replace it with new equipment. They could not have responded faster, something one must appreciate when water is spewing everywhere. The plumbers were clean, sane, courteous and skilled. The price was fair. I would expect that of any service provider. This company also excelled at recognizing the need for a prompt response and making it happen. Thank you.
Description of Work: This provider replaced a leaking compression tank.

They discovered wasps in the tubing that was to drain the condensation to the outside of the house. They worked a wire through the tubing and cleared out the wasps. They then suggested we tie a stocking on the outside of the hose to prevent this from happening again. This took about 30 minutes.
Description of Work: Wall mounted air conditioner was pouring water inside the house. We hadn't used it in a year. Two service men were sent out and cleared the tubing..

They came in and fixed it. They came when they were asked to. They handled the arrangements with my tenants. They called me and let me know what it was. The furnace is about 35 years old. I told them I needed a repair on Thursday and I asked them to call the tenant, they arranged everything then called to let me know what was wrong. They had it fixed in about a half hour. They haven't sent the bill yet, they are very slow to bill. I had to ask them to bring a bill for the previous service when they came for a repair. I've used them for years and I trust them completely. They've always been "A" quality, which is why I use them.
Description of Work: Quackenbush & Haegle did work on my attic furnace at my rental property. They perform annual maintenance on it but this time the spark ignitor was malfunctioning. There is no pilot, it's electronic.

I had a leaky cast iron stack replaced which ran from the 2nd floor of my two-family home in Watervliet, NY (circa 1880) through the first floor into the cellar. The stack was exposed but, two major drawbacks to the project were: 1. a drain from the flat roof emptied into the stack so work had to be done while no chance of rain and, 2. original expansion tank for boiler was mounted on wall of first flr. bathroom right over old, claw-footed tub (and and eyesore) and was tied into the stack. 30 yrs. ago, 3 different plumbers said we'd have to live with the problem when we asked about relocating it to the cellar. Eric removed the old tank and placed a new one in the cellar in a half-day. It took another day's work to saw out the old stack and replace it from the 2nd flr. down through the 1st flr. into the cellar with an additional 4-5 ft. section which had to be "chiseled" out from the partial concrete covering. They would have sent a truck to pick up the discarded piping and tank which was placed next to the house, but junk dealers snatched everything first. I also had him fix my boiler last fall when it went out. It was originally coal burning which had been converted to gas by previous owners years ago. It provides gravity fed water to the radiators. It should have died years ago but Eric has kept it going for us. We've had them do our plumbing and heating for well over 20 years and I wouldn't trust anyone else to go near these old systems.
Description of Work: Cast iron stack replaced from 2nd floor thru 1st floor to cellar and 4-5 ft under cement cellar floor. Expansion tank for boiler relocated from 1st floor bathroom to cellar.

Their work was okay, but I was disappointed with their price and they know it. They get high ratings overall, except for price. Regrettably, I will use them again in the future.
