+ -1 moreHe arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem and promptly fixed it. He charged a reasonable fee and everything was back in place when he finished. The reason I gave them a B and am not calling them again is a review I saw where things went terribly horribly wrong. Due to the length of time since I needed repairs, I was afraid that the service may not be what it has been in the past.
Description of Work: The man came and repaired my stove quickly and efficiently.

Description of Work: I am POA for my 91 year old mother-in-law and live 25 miles from her and pay all her bills. This company came to her house to repair a 2 year old refrigerator that wasn't working. I did not speak to this company before they did the work. I was called after he put a fan in and told that it would be $154.00 in cash. I told him I couldn't come there to pay cash at that time .Could he bill me he said he didn't bill and when I asked if he took credit cards he said no only cash and if he didn't get cash he would take the part out. Since I couldn't get there he took the part out. I then called another service provider who came within an hour and said that the previous guy must have inadvertently took a grommet that holds the fan in place (there are 2 one was missing) with him and it would have to be mail ordered since they don't carry them locally. I then called Parkes and explained the situation to the woman who answered and when she went to connect me to the repairman said he just pulled out of the driveway and no he didn't have a cellphone so she had no way to reach him. I then again spoke to my repairman who said he looked all over for the grommet and it wasn't there .This is a 2 year old refrigerator that had not been moved since it was installed and it was probably sitting on the new fan he removed and to ask him to look and just drop it off. Parkes is less than a mile from my mother-in -laws home. I called Parkes back and asked if she could get in touch with the guy and just ask him to drop it off. She said he was out on other calls and she would give him the number however in the course of our conversation she said "he didn't take anything" then the repairman who supposedly wasn't there got on the phone and started yelling that he didn't have any grommet and as far as he was concerned the call was over and hung up on me. My repairman in the meantime is going to put the fan in with 1 grommet he said it will be noisy and the fan could shift and he will order the other part that could take a week to 10 days to get here come back and put it in and then bill me when the job is complete for $5.00 than Parkes wanted in CASH. To me they are very unprofessional and I would not recommend them or do business with someone who would do this to a 91 year old woman.

Description of Work: Dishwasher wasn't getting enough water in it. I suspected it was clogged from sediment but after it was taken apart, it was all clear. Turns out I have bad house water pressure and he suggested I get that checked out.

+ -1 moreAs soon as he walked in, he was professional and very thorough. He did not waste any time. He knew exactly what was wrong and got to the point. The prices are reasonable and they are a dependable company to work with.
Description of Work: My dryer stopped rotating, so he came and replaced some control unit piece on it.

When the repairman came he told me that this was an ongoing problem with this same machine and it was very expensive to repair. I ended up buying a new washer from them which was delivered and installed within an hour. I should have bought a new washer from them three years ago and I am sure I would not have had the problems I had. They are local people and very honest and reliable.
Description of Work: I called to initially repair my washer and I ended up buying a new washing machine from them. I had my present washer for only three years and had it repaired once. It started leaking water again so I called the "warranty" service company and they said they could not come for a week and the service call would be $98. I called Parkes the next morning and they came within two hours.

+ -1 moreHE IS A LOCAL GUY, AND I LIVE A MILE AWAY FROM HIM. HE IS THE TYPE OF GUY I CAN LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN FOR. I WORK AND I'M HERE ALONE. HE HAS DONE WORK ON MY WASHER AND DRYER. HE IS EXCELLENT. HE IS ON THE ROAD A LOT, AND HE TALKS WITH HIS WIFE TO SET THINGS UP. HE IS DILIGENT, PROMPT, HONEST AND GOOD TO DO BUSINESS WITH. IT WORKS WHEN LEAVES.
Description of Work: IT WAS A THERMOSTAT THAT HE FIXED ON A GAS DRYER.
