The experience started out well. While not the lowest, the estimate was competitive, and Maury seemed extremely responsible and conscientious. Painting was supposed to be done in 6 - 7 days. When I returned home two weeks later, the job was not done. They told me there had been rain, but a check of the weather and with friends in the area revealed there was no rain until after the job should have already been done. Then they asked me to pay, even though the job wasn't complete. Feeling bad because they "weren't going to make payroll" and because they had been nice, I went ahead and paid, including hte extra money they had asked for when they claimed doors and windows weren't included in the estimate, despite the fact that it clearly said trim. Interestingly, they quickly had a friend would could replace my windows instead of painting them for a few thousand dollars. I agreed, in desperation, to pay extra for the doors. The quality of work was horrible. Paint slopped everywhere on the hardware and the other (non-exterior) side of door. One door was painted shut, for the others, they just skipped the edges so they could shut the doors without waiting. They skipped - didn't paint! - one whole side of my shed (again, in the original bid). This was remedied after I complained, but they still skipped some of the trim on it. The bid said they would caulk as needed and replace warped boards. It is my understanding they did some replacements while I wasn't there, but there are still boards on the house that are obviously in need of caulking and/or replacement. Then they offered to do the spring clean up in my yard when the other guy didn't show. For $200, they mowed and few a little mulch in a few spots. The didn't do any of the shrubs, despite it again being clearly stated in the bid. General quality of work was very substandard and unprofessional. I think they started out with good intentions, but grossly underestimated the work and then tried to cut corners and were sloppy. Unfortunately with paint, a little sloppiness causes a lot of damage.
