Allen worked with us to replace our front door. Several other contractors declined the job once they looked at the work that was involved to work with the nonstandard door. It took several years to find someone with the skills to do the job. In fact, one contractor replaced the side garage door but neglected to follow through with the front door estimate. We have a three foot wide front door with an attached fan light over the door. The bottom door frame and kick board were rotten and the glass in the door lost it's adhesive attaching the grill so that it rattled. The window above the door was fine and did not need to be replaced but the dimension of the door under the fanlight was shorter than typical because it did not have full framing around it and it was attached to the window frame. Allen came to our house for an initial assessment and provided a choice of suppliers to contact for materials. We went to select a door, handle/lock set and placed the order. Allen came and removed molding to closely measure the opening to match it to the door that we chose. Allen worked with the supplier to order the correct size because our opening was not standard. He ordered a peephole for us because we ordered a solid door without windows. He went to the lumber yard to ensure that it was the correct size before delivery. The door and lockset was delivered. We primed it and painted the exterior inside because it was too cold to wait. Allen spent a day to cut out the old door, remove frame and kick board, remove the new door molding, install the new door and lockset. He returned the next day to finish replacing interior molding and adding molding on the exterior. He also applied sealer to prevent water from getting between the brick and the door frame. I must add that the paint was in no way damaged in his handling. He sent us the bill in a few days and we paid it. The price was fair considering the complications of separating the door from the window above and all of the adjusting that was necessary because it was not a standard size. I know from my brother-in-law's experience that door installations can be complicated. Allen was neat, pleasant and professional. He mentioned that he also does inside work, hanging cabinets and finishing work. We are more satisfied with the appearance and hanging of the door than the original installation by the builder. I would not hesitate to ask him to do additional work.
