Not good. They had this piece for nearly 8 months. Calls to find out the status were not returned until I sent an email to Dennis. I had been told by another that this is a problem. The big issue with the chest was that a burl veneer panel was much darker than the other panels. Dennis assured he could fix. Ian (his son) told me he had personally sanded out the darker stain. Dennis later told me he had to replace the veneer all together. He used Olive wood veneer not the original Walnut. You don't do this without consulting with the owner! They didn't. The panels do not match to our satisfaction. I expressed these concerns to them in an email but got no response. Note, we really like these guys otherwise. We had given them two pieces prior that we were happy with.

At first, Dennis looked at a photo of the door, and when he came by to remove the screen door was friendly. I told him that I wanted everything the same, but just an improved version of the door (sanded, new screens, a piece of wood missing replaced, shine the handle, etc.) I was not home when he put the door back on. I was upset because he put a new handle on - a phone call clarifying would have fixed this. I told him my concern and he said he would come by and put the old door handle on. The door was done OVER A YEAR AGO. The handle sat in my mailbox for a year. I called him back multiple times. Finally he answered, said he was "knee deep in stain and would call me the next day". To no surprise, he did not call me back. I called him repeatedly for a few weeks, and never got a response. Overall Tonawanda Woodworks was extremely unprofessional and I would not recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Refinished a screen door.

The service received was great. Very professional and friendly. They came to see my pieces and gave an estimate on the spot. I normally am very skeptical and get several estimates, however was very taken by how knowledgable, friendly and professional they were. Great work. My late mothers occasional table worth peanuts to anyone else has been refurbished into priceless for my family to hand down and enjoy.

Dennis has done work for me for years. I have also referred him to friends who were very pleased. He has refurbished and re-gilded two large antique mirrors for me and they are once again the show pieces they were meant to be. Dennis has an extensive knowledge of furniture and the refinishing process. He is punctual and consults on each item--its origins and type of wood, if refinishing is possible or even advisable as to if the piece will lose value if refinished, and to the type of finish recommended. He also thoroughly discusses with me my expectations and desires for the look and use of the piece. He recommended museum quality for my vintage dining room set. He and his son determined that a corner cabinet would retain its Americana look by NOT being refinished and also truly appeared to enjoy examining and thinking about my smaller side table. They even offered to help me move my other very large cabinets (not part of the set) into another room to clear the room for painting. The furniture was completed in 3 weeks and delivered promptly and with care. They even moved the cabinets back into the room for me. Everything looks wonderful and the side table is a particular joy and is now so distinctive and a beautiful accent to the room.

Tonawanda Woodworks did excellent work. They were very professional. They were here when they said they would be here, to give the estimate. They brought the furniture back when they said they would. The furniture looks beautiful. It's very smooth. It looks wonderful. Their prices are reasonable.

They helped us move furniture into this new house. They are professional and knowledgeable. They are awesome when it comes to professionalism and courtesy. They are prompt. His son and another friend was helping us. They removed the furniture from old house and offered to help us move furniture from where we were to where we are now. They offered and they were prompt. They helped us move some big items. They assisted us. The dining room set, they disassembled it and then reassembled it. They did an outstanding job.
