In Nov. of 2014 TMS ( Termo Mechanical Service ) installed a humidifier on my furnace. After a short period of about two to four weeks, I noticed on my humidistat it read around 20 to 24 percent when it should be in the 35 to 45 percent range I called TMS and they came out to check the setting on the humidifier to see that it corresponded to the outside temperature. The individual explained to me about how the furnace and humidifier worked depending on the outside temperature and that the setting had to be reset on occasion to work properly. I went through the different adjustments and still could not get the humidity above 24 percent.The Company Owner came out with a gage which measures the humidity at different settings. His readings were different than what I was getting on my humidistat by a couple of percent but not in the proper range of 35 to 45 percent. I purchased a new humidistat and the readings were a little better but still not sufficient. I told the Owner the humidifier was to small to service my appartment which was three flloors from my basement and that I needed a bigger Unit. I would pay the difference in cost but not the labor. I felt they should have checked before selling me a Unit to make sure the size was correct. It took all Winter and some hardships before I could get them to do something. In the meantime I had to purchase a portable humidifier to improve living conditions. There solution was to seal off the cold water supply and tap the hot water to service the humidifier. Doing this would allow the water to evaporate quicker and increase the humidity. Well fortunately it did seem to raise the percentage to an agreeable point . My disappointment was first of all it took them so long to react and it put us in a situation where we had to purchase a portable humidifier and on top of that they charged us an additional $ 75 to correct the problem I believe they created. I felt there was no reason to pay this bill but rather than drag out dickering over this situation, I paid and as a result I felt it was my duty to write this review. I am sure they will refute this but trust me, this was the case.
