Everything was fine. They were able to come out shortly after I had purchased a big deal. They were even early for the appointment. Scheduling was very easy. Mark was good to work with. The guys are all easy to work with and they are friendly. I even had them work on my mother’s home.
Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for $99 for Two Hours of Electrical Labor. They installed three way switches.

I thought the first estimate I was given was a little high, but we were able to negotiate a deal that I thought was very fair. I was not here myself when the work was performed, however from what I heard, the men were very professional, neat and accomplished the work in a short amount of time. I have not had much opportunity to test the wiring thoroughly, but the few times I have used it we have not had a problem. I would not hesitate to contact Twin City for future electrical work.
Description of Work: We were having issues where the power would go off while operating our microwave oven. His men installed additional wiring so the micrwave would be on it's own dedicated circuit.

I had a great experience with this company. Our basement was renovated in December and I asked TCE for an estimate for ceiling lights. The owner, Mike, came to give the estimate and was great about following up on the project. I was committed to the company because I bough an Angie's deal with them, but I lost my momentum over the holidays,. Mike actually spent some time researching which lights would be best for me (I needed lights that would be safe with kids throwing balls in the basement) and regularly tried to get in contact with me. I really appreciated that he did send messages through Angie's list and call, since I'd already paid for the labor ($100). When the chaos of the holidays finally settled down, I contacted him and he was ready to go with the project. A week later, 2 of his employees showed up and installed the lights in about 1/2 an hour. I can hear the kids right now playing in a (bright!) basement while my husband and I sit in front of the fireplace:). I really appreciated Mike's professionalism, friendliness, transparency and efficiency. Will hire them in the spring to fix indoor and outdoor outlets.

I would not hesitate to call them again should I run into any more electrical issues. These gentlemen were not only very polite and pleasant, but kept me informed of everything they were doing - one even used his cellphone camera to actually SHOW me what the problem looked like.
Description of Work: I had electrical outlets which hadn't worked in several years, 2 on the 1st floor, 1 on the 2nd floor. Before any work was started, the 2 electricians said they would check the circuit out, which they did. Luckily for me, they discovered a wire hadn't been properly attached. They fixed that and I did not have to have new outlets installed. One of the electricians discovered water dripping from wired from outside - he went out and discovered the problem and fixed it right then and there!

We called for an estimate. We have pretty large electrical repairs needed. Mike stopped by one night for about 20 minutes and said it would be better if he could return to do a more thorough estimate. We planned for Tuesday, February 18th between 9am-11am. We even had him write my husbands phone number down as the best number to call. Tuesday came and went with a no show. I called Mike the next day. He was VERY apologetic and courteous. He promised he would call my husband later that day. Again, I gave him my husband's phone number. NEVER CALLED!!!!!!!!!!! Mike seemed like a nice guy, but we won't be doing business with him. UPDATE: we got called 1 day late at the number we asked him not to use and he asked for Mike & Kim.....those are not our names. We are unfortunately done with this company. UPDATE TO VENDOR RESPONSE: this update is not to bash the vendor but rather just to clear up a couple items in his response. After accepting the owners apology I suggested that he call my husband (since I work days and my husband is currently not working due to surgery it is easier for them to meet). He promised me that he would call my husband later that day. I then gave him my husbands name and phone number again. I told him that it would be easier to speak directly to my husband since I knew he had doctor appointments coming up (BUT NOT THAT DAY) but I wasn't sure of the upcoming dates/times. I guess I just don't understand where the confusion came into play. In our minds after we gave a second chance and he didn't call that day as promised...we were done with this company. After all of this, of course we did not return his calls. Not trying to be mean here but here are the last 2 things I will post on here: 1) When he did call he did leave a message for Mike & Kim...again those are not our names. 2) I have to admit that I am pretty angry that he chose to throw our last name out in his response. Ignorant move on his part!!!

Response from Roy's Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service but with [removed member name] we couldn’t get anything right. I met with the [removed member name] on a Saturday and scheduled a follow up visit the following Tuesday night. I went home and entered the appointment into my computer but I must of made a mistake because it didn’t show in my calendar on Tuesday which caused me to, unfortunately, miss the appointment. [removed member name] called me on Wednesday and I explain to her what had happen. She was very nice in accepting my apology. She asked me to call her husband to schedule a follow up appointment but he would be at doctor appointments today, my understanding of the call was not to call her husband on Wednesday because he is busy. I called him Thursday and left a message. I also called on Friday and Saturday and left messages on both his cell phone and the house phone just in case I wrote down the wrong number. It was not until Sunday when I read the review that Mrs. [member's name removed] submitted did I learn she was expecting a call back on Wednesday and I misunderstood our conversation. I’m disappointed I was not able to work for the [members' names removed]. They seem like nice people.

tech came out to light a hot water tank and said the heating unit needed to be replaced. he came back 3 days later and found he could replace the $10.00 thermal couple in about five min. $297.00 and 5 min. later we had hot water. I had a company come in to work on my furnace and they said they would have had it up and running the same day for $35.00 plus tax

He was going to go back to the office and refine it and mail it out with some options. He did talk to my husband twice since then, promising for the formal estimate, but we have yet to receive anything from him. At this point we would like to pull the plug on this offer and request a refund.

Response from Roy's Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical
I did a job visit on 10/25/2013. After speaking with a few times, defining the job, I compiled a proposal. I mailed out the proposal on November 1, 2013. Larry had expressed that he was not intending to do the project till spring 2014 so I was not expecting to hear back from him right away. I had no idea that had not received the proposal until this review was posted. After seeing the review I immediately called on January 6, 2014 and explain to him that I in fact mailed his proposal on November 1st and in speaking with it was discovered I had the wrong zip code. On January 8, 2014 I hand delivered another copy of the proposal thanked me for delivering the proposal and informed me he would get back to me in a few days.

When Roy's technician arrived I described how the valve blew on top of the boiler. He asked "when is the last time you had this boiler serviced" and told him November.... by T-Mark. He checked the control for the boiler pressure and found it not working. He removed the control and then removed a "circle" copper pipe going to it...it was fully plugged...he cleaned it and reinstalled it. He told me that the steam pressure was not going to the control (because of the plugged up tube) thus allowing the pressure to build extremely high in the boiler and blowing the emergency release valve. He stated that a "servicing of a steam boiler should ALWAYS include cleaning the loop tube and the sight glass"...neither was done by T-Mark ( I observed both contractors during the entire servicing of my boiler. Roy's then checked every radiator in my house...replacing 4 relief valves and tightening 5 valve stem nuts that were leaking (also part of a tune-up). Result is that I now have to fill my boiler rarely instead of every day during the coldest days! T-Mark...nice guys..lack the knowledge to repair STEAM BOILERS....CALL ROYS GREAT JOB MICHAEL PASCUZZI of Roys

Mike the owner sounds like a good guy, but I have decided to request a refund at this time due to a cited higher cost than the $99 for 2 hours labor deal, which we just cannot afford at this time. A higher price was cited for the 2nd hour @($149) because Mike felt that it would take two men to do the job, therefore he said he would have to charge more per the 2nd hour. He also predicted that it could take several more hours again past the 2 hours to do the job, which would be to much for us right now. I think he was being forthright about what he felt he should charge and what it would entail to complete the job. I appreciated the honest assessment and not having had it held back and then sprung on us afterwards. But we were counting on just the $99 for 2 hours labor plus parts and hoped it would not get too much more expensive, so due to current circumstances, have decided to request the refund at this time.

This review is based on two services by Roy's. In August we had a central air unit installed. The service was very professional, prompt and so far the unit has worked perfectly. I believe the cost was around $4,000. It was comparable to other quotes and I appreciated their professionalism. The one problem I have is with the "free" carbon monoxide monitor that they installed. Last month, I smelled gas, opened the windows and quickly called National Fuel. They came in 45 minutes and measured the CO levels at 45 ppm at that time. A gas fireplace wasn't venting properly and the National Fuel agent was very surprised that our monitor didn't go off. The windows were open and the fireplace was turned off for over an hour and the readings were still at an unsafe level, they would have been much higher at one point and the monitor never went off. Reading other reviews here, I see that they don't provide a warranty for the monitors, since they are installed for free. Needless to say, I have bought another monitor and won't be relying on Roy's for safety. Also, in December, we had a sewage backup in the basement. I called Roy's and they came out right away. They were able to clean the line and the men they sent were very friendly and professional. They charged $270 to clear the line. They said the sewer line was damaged and needed to be completely replaced. I asked for a camera scope and they didn't have it with them but said they could tell it needed to be replaced because of years of experience. The written quote was for $12,000 if we wanted trench-less replacement, $8,000 to run a new line through the old one, and $9,750 to excavate and replace the line. When I was getting other quotes to have the line replaced, RIC plumbing came, brought the camera scope and showed me that the line from the house to the street was in perfect condition, no cracks or root penetration. They said it looked like new. The problem was in the trap under the basement floor which was made of cast iron and had corroded. I needed to replace the trap and a small section of pipe. This would cost $2,050. I don't know if Roy's would have continued with replacing the entire sewer line if they found out it was in perfect shape during the process. However, I am upset that they quickly came to the conclusion that the entire line had to be replaced and brushed off my request for a camera scope as unnecessary. If I hadn't gotten other quotes, I would have never known the sewer line was in perfect shape and would have overspent by at least $6,000.
Description of Work: New central air unit added to existing forced heat system. Sewer line clean out and estimate for replacement.

I had purchased the Angie's List deal toward the end of the offer period and by that time they were heavily booked. The owner, Mike, was great about getting back to me quickly. He took detailed information on what work we wanted done and he let me know how much parts would likely cost. His estimate was reasonable and spot on. He also let me know it would be a while before they would be able to come out. I understood and we set up a time about 3 weeks in advance. When the time came, his employees, Mark and Shawn did exactly what Mike and I had discussed. They were very professional. I had a lot of questions about what had led to the problems they were fixing and they were great about answering them. They took the time to teach me and I really appreciated that. Everything has been working well since they left. I will be calling Twin City Electrical next time we need work done.

Terrible! We made the mistake of hiring these guys by buying a "Angie's Deal", which was supposed to be 3 hours of electrical worWe spoke to the owner who set up two "electricians" to do the work. They arrived, spent most of their time talking with owner for direction/advise. Clearly these guys were not licensed. When I told the owner how I felt, he said "they use my license". So, what we have is one contractor licensed electrician who appears to be unable to come himself, so he sent his "trained" personnel. These guys were laborers, not electricians. I asked them to check the outlets in our home we had recently purchased, they did not. I asked them to trace and diagnose an short in a line, and they said they couldn't locate it, or fix it, despite the circuit working fine until it blew. They seemed overwhelmed, spent way too much time talking back & forth with the boss, and left I wouldn't hire this company to change a lightbulb!! BUYER BEWARE!!! The owner refunded out money, and I was just going to let it go, but then I reread some of the reviews. These guys are filled with apologies, but lack expertise. They are NOT electricians!!! Stay away!!!

First I would like to thank the member for the review. I feel a review either positive or negative can help us improve our customer service. I talked to the member after he purchased the Angie’s List big deal which gave him one hour of labor with two men. He said he had a power outage in a bedroom. I explain to him that a power outage can be simple or very involved and I don’t know if it can be repaired in one hour. He stated he understood and I scheduled the service call with him Two electricians were sent for the service call and began trouble shooting the power outage. After over an hour of trouble shooting we informed the member that the power outage is not a simple fix and would require more trouble shooting time to repair which would be additional labor cost. We also explain that we could only spend an additional hour due to we had other Angie’s List service calls to do and might have to come back to finish the repair if we didn’t complete the repair. The member approved the additional time and we continued the repair. During our trouble shooting we found non- standard wiring practices were used for some of the wiring in the house. Also we found buried junction boxes that we could not accessible without making access holes. The member confirmed this and stated the house has had several additions added and built one addition over another and who knows what they did. He also stated he purchased the house with the power outage and who knows how many other electricians might have worked on it. We explain we would need to return to complete the repair. the member thanked us and said he was happy with the progress we made and wanted to know how soon we could return to complete the repair. I called the member to schedule to completion of the repair when he informed me that he was no longer happy and my electricians must be only laborers because we didn’t complete the repair on the first visit. I tried to explain the complexity of the repair but unfortunately his mind was already made up. At Twin City Electrical we guarantee customer satisfaction. I refunded the member the money he paid Angie’s List (absolutely not required by Angie’s List) and also did not charge the member for the additional labor he authorized. In addition I offered to return with my electricians to complete the repair at no cost to him. He declined my offer. The last thing we want at Twin City Electrical is an unhappy customer but I don’t know what else I could have done to make the member happy. I can’t help but feel this review is unfair. It is based on a job that was not complete. If we were giving the opportunity (at no cost to the customer) to complete the repair I feel we would of received a much different review. Please take a look at our other positive reviews for a more accurate representation of the quality of Twin City Electrical’s work.

They didn't quite do what I asked them to do. I had to monitor and relay information to them so I was a little bit disappointed. I had them come out fairly soon after I purchased the deal and I didn't spend anything other than the cost of the deal. They pretty much fixed a couple of light switches that needed to be replaced. I asked them to do a specific lighting but it wasn't done. I think it was some sort of miscommunication and I would have loved it if they could come back and do it for me. When I setup a work date with them I specifically told them what I wanted done.
