Blount has done multiple projects for us; driveway, back patio & concrete around our pool. Their work is excellent and we constantly get compliments from neighbors walking by on how great our stamped concrete looks. We follow their recommendations on keeping up with sealing the concrete and it has kept up really well. The crew was conscientious and professional while working at our home. We will be calling on them to add another concrete patio to our property.

Terrible. Never returned to do the work. Came out, provided an estimate, and scheduled an appointment for 2-3 weeks in the future to complete the work. Never returned, called or answered our attempts to contact them.

Actually they did part of it and they had to come out to do the rest of it. They never did finish it the way I wanted it done. They were supposed to have redone the front basement which is part of the front porch. They replaced some of it but they should have gone all the way down. The sidewalk part they did looks good but the part which was more important, fixing the walls of the yard and re-doing all the concrete around that area, redoing the walls and making it neat, it wasn't done right. It was really sloppy work. They were supposed to come back and take stuff out but I had to call them to get the stuff out of there. I had to bring the owner out and he was like they would fix it but I ended up finishing it myself with the help of other people's suggestions. I mixed my own concrete and things look way better than they were. Then I ended up repainting it and doing what I needed to do to make it look decent. This cost me 12,000 dollars. They came back a year ago and did some more work and they took all the junk that they had left behind out but they never cleaned the mess they made out. They were not responsible for tearing up the grass. They were supposed to redo the sides of the porch but they never did, I ended up doing it myself because it looked terrible. From what I understand, they've already gotten themselves in trouble, no from me but from other customers. I don't recommend them to anybody. Personally I think companies like these should already be out of business but no one seems to do much about them.

Blount was in the neigborhood pouring new sidewalk squares for many houses - the town had just come through and spraypainted the ones that needed to be fixed. We asked them to stop by and give us an estimate. Their estimate was definitely less than other we had gotten, and we hired them. The work seemed to go well, they arrived on time, did the work on time, even tore out some dead bushes for me while the bobcat was there. The workers were all very nice. I would have given the experience an A...but.... As soon as they left, the top layer of concrete has been chipping off, little by little (the work was done two summers ago). Last summer, after the snow melted, it was obvious that something had gone wrong and I called them. The owner came out, told me it was no big deal, and he would have someone stop by to fix it as soon as they were in the neighborhood, but definitely within 2 weeks. This was a year ago. I have called the office many times, they always say they are coming out and then do not come. After this last winter, it looks even worse...it doesn't even look new. The smooth top layer is almost half chipped off now...it looks 20 years old at best. This was a huge disappointment.
Description of Work: removed a concrete slab patio from our backyard (in rough shape - from the 60's) and replaced with a new slab. No stamping, no colors, nothing fancy.

I was the last driveway poured - they finished around 9 pm. A strong rain storm came through and ruined over 1/2 the driveway. When I came home the next day I noticed the angle of the cut to the stairway was different - I later found out that Blount came back - ripped up the rain ruined part of the driveway and replaced part of it. THEY DID NOT REPLACE ALL THE RUINED CONCRETE - On the weekend they sent out someone to seal the still damaged center section. All that did was accentuate the rough finish and it pealed right off. After many phone calls they promised to come back and replace the now crumbling section - I have yet to see anyone.........I would never recommend them and will always tell my story whenever anyone is looking for concrete work. I invite them to my house to see the finished product.
Description of Work: Blount was replacing driveways on my street - Gave me a "deal" to sign and get it done with my neighbors I agreed to have the blacktop driveway replaced along with a 2 ft x 12ft portion of garage floor and a small patio in the backThey started with the patio, moved to the garage floor, and completed the driveway last.

At the time of service, I had to have the men re-do the framing for the sidewalk as it was not straight. I was told later, when I was unhappy with the height issue, that I should have stopped them. How was I to know how high the concrete would be? Why weren't they just following the orders? They had no right to change anything without my authorization. The attitude of caring or having responsibility was non-existent. The owner was aloof, mostly non-responsive, and arrogant, behaving like a bully toward me. I feel sure he enjoyed intimidating me. He will never get a word of approval or recommendation from me.
Description of Work: The concrete floor was removed and re-poured in a two-car garage. During the winter, as snow melted from my car, I noticed a "dip"or puddle in the concrete near the garage door. Periodically, I swept the water out the door to the driveway. The following July, during an unusually hot spell, the aluminum frame around the garage door buckled when the concrete heaved because no space was left for such expansion. I also wanted a sidewalk to be built from the garage to the backyard, to be level with the existing ground. It is anywhere from 1-3 inches above the ground. After countless calls, with worthless promises for dirt to blend in the sidewalk and denying any responsibility for the damaged garage door frames, I was told that there must have been an earthquake or I hit it with my car. (The damage was at ground level.) Initially, I was told that concrete does not heave!! I have paid for the necessary repairs in addition to the initial cost for the concrete work. In telling people about my troubles, I have been amazed at the number of people who have had similar troubles with this organization. I highly urge that people NOT use this outfit. I have also learned that they are not an accredited member of the BBB.

They came in and ripped out our black top driveway, and poured a concrete drive. The very next year, it started cracking and not just in the expansion joints. I have 4 blocks that are complete cracked and chipping apart. 3 other neighbors in the area also had work done at the same time, and of the 4 total jobs, one came our right. A better business report was filed, and all his remarks were "if it heaves an inch, we'll replace it". This company is quantity, not quality, and I would NEVER hire them again.

The work adjacent to the house was supposed to be graded, but as the work was done one inch deep puddles formed adjacent to the house. The ramp at the street by city ordnance was supposed to be six inches thick. When this slab was returned to service after curing I observed a city pick up truck crossing the ramp and a crack resulted. When I checked the edges of the crack I discovered the pour was less than four inches thick. I complained to the city and immediately wrote to Blount with my complaints. After about three letters and a warning from the city Blount finally met with us and agreed to corrective work. It was a joke. After a year of telephone calls, two more letters and contacting my attorney who was just preparing legal action Blount's people appeared with no prior notice and broke up and replaced the slabs adjacent to the house and the street ramp. The corrective work resulted in what another concrete contractor called a duck pond slab. It had several depressions and was still two flat for proper drainage away from the house. I just gave up on getting a proper job completed. The street ramp when they broke it up likewise showed that it was thin at the edges and six inches only at the center. Later Blount who was not present during the corrective work tried to tell me that the slab was all six inches. I retired from forty years in construction and told him he didn't know what he was talking about. He got angry and said I was the most frustrating customer he had ever encountered. Considering that two visits and $3,000 had made things slightly better than what was there originally my lawyer and the code enforcement official advised me that pursuing the matter further would probably not make things much better. But every time I see those puddles next to my house I am troubled that lawyers are so expensive and city officials have their hands tied.
Description of Work: Blount was supposed to replace a 20X20 driveway section adjacent to my house and replace a ramp at the street. When we first met for the estimate I pointed out a line on the foundation of the house about three inches above the surface of the driveway. I said I thought that was too high, but I wanted a slope of the driveway to convey water away from the house. He agreed.
