thornwood sewer and drain cleaning

The office personnel is friendly- when I called they told me it was $145 per hour and they would prorate afterward. She told me that someone is in my area and she would call them to see when they were going to finish up their current job and then call me back. The service man called me back and told me that there was an $85 service fee in addition to the $145 drain cleaning, but that he would apply the service fee to the cleaning. Because this was not what I was told by the office and because we had a bad connection- I told him that I would call his office. The office told me that it's up to the service people what they want to charge- and yes, they could apply the service charge to the job. She said they would be at my home in 15 minutes...45 minutes later I called the office and inquired as to what happened. She said she would call the guys to find out. Sure enough, the service man called me back and told me the girl in the office sent him to the wrong address- different town. Two men eventually showed up (not in a company van) and they seemed knowledgeable - they got right to work on the drain. 45 minutes later- drain was cleared but the bill is now $230.00 plus tax- total of $250.00. When I reminded him that he told me he would apply the service fee to the $149 rate...he said that did not include snaking the drain. It's $250.00 plus tax to snake the drain and he could charge me that if I wanted. Instead he charged me $85 for a service call and $145 for the hour, plus tax that's $250. Also, the receipt says L&S Sewer & Drain located in Queens, NY- which the service man said is the parent company. No mention of this on the Thornwood Sewer & Drain website. I would not use them again because of the she said- he said back and forth with the pricing- it should have been made clear at the time of the initial call- that's basic.
