The gentleman who came to do the quotes was fine and though the quote was provided in a timely and detailed fashion it did not include one of the key things we wanted and were concerned about getting, which was the trim that made the house look cute and different when we were house shopping. When we asked for that to be added to the quote they gave us a quote for a fix that would alter the look of the home, something expressly and in detail stated we did not want. It's possible there was some confusion but we were pretty clear about pointing out what we wanted when the gentleman came to the house and the altered quote did not reflect that and in fact reflected that what was important to us was still not getting across. We went with The Roofing Guys whose fellow who did the quote was very clear in his explanation and took a great deal of extra time to make sure we were all on the same page.

I can't endorse them enough. Everything about them was great. They were very accurate. They tried to do everything they could to make this job great. They were very professional, and showed me all of the options available for repair. I worked with Jim Miller, the estimator, Justin was the foreman and Jack was the project manager. They were all terrific.

I originally obtained an estimate in the Fall of 2012 with the intent of having the work down in the Spring of 2013. I met with Ed who performed the estimate, and answered all of my (many) questions. We agreed upon the scope of work, and I agreed on the spot to have Van Derhoof perform the work. I had obtained a few estimates previously, and while they were all less expensive than Van Derhoof, I was impressed with Ed and the presentation he made and his emphasis on quality, which is what I was looking for in a roofing contractor first and foremost. After some wrangling of schedules, we decided on the week of June 10th 2013 for the work to completed and the job started on time. The crew present was friendly and answered all of my questions/concerns as the work commenced and eventually concluded approximately 3 days later. During the job, Chip Van Derhoof stopped by to see how the job was going and answer still more of my questions which I appreciated. Gutters were installed by a sub-contractor a few days after the roofing work was completed. At the conclusion of the job there were a few minor issues with trim work which needed to be addressed, but these issues were corrected immediately upon my request, and to my satisfaction. The final outcome looks good and appears to be of the high quality that made me go with this contractor initially. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work and would use this contractor again and/or refer this contractor to a friend or family.

I called and left a message with the details of the work to be performed and request for an estimate, but I never received a return call. Their failure to respond indicated to me that they aren't interested in my business.

Unfortunately, my insurance company, State Farm, was being a real pain about it and kept questioning things, wanting to talk to him, asking for more info etc. I couldn't believe how he hung in there with me and was so responsive to them and to me. The whole thing took a month and, in the end, they refused to pay what he estimated the cost to be and i've been forced to look for another roofer. But I wanted to write this review just based on my experience of working with Jim and how incredibly responsive he was throughout the process in dealing with me and State Farm. I feel bad that I can't use him after all the time he put into dealing with my obnoxious insurance company.

All went well despite weather problems. From the start, they were extremely professional. They did an excellent job.

Have used Van Derhoof a number of times. Staff and crew were great, polite, professional, neat, clean. Justin the supervisor was excellent. Owner Chip is top notch customer service oriented person. 5 stars

Excellent start to finish. They came out, gave me a quote, scheduled me, did the work in a timely manner. They were recommended to me by someone who owns several houses, and I was warned they were priced high.

Van Derhoof is an excellent, professional contractor with the depth to back what they sell. They run half a dozen crews. They have specialized crews for various aspects, such as sloped roof, flat roof section, flashing, finish carpentry, soffit and fascia and gutters. Their work is excellent, everything is fixed and nothing is patched over. They are not cheap, they are a very good value. And their warranty is the best available locally (including 10 years against all leaks, labor on shingles).

Replaced entire roof, including plywood. Everything was excellent. They replaced entire roof and did an excellent job.

Representative from the company came, on time, to give us an estimate. Very professional. Because of reputation, went with company. Very happy but the cost was more. The representative warned us that if they had to replace plywood, it would be $50 a sheet. I knew it would require some replacing. As a result, it cost us $2500 more than estimated. They explained why before they did it and even let me see the problem. Did a great job-the roof will last my life. Cleaned up after themselves each day. Made sure the roof was protected at night. I have feel very comfortable in recommending them again. They are more expensive BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Crew was courteous and a pleasure to have them work for us.

The contractor came and gave a free estimate of what work was necessary and the amount of time and date when he would be available to perform it. He also quoted an approximate price for the service. He returned several days later while I was at work and performed the work leaving the total bill taped to the door. The cost was approximately what was quoted and the repairs seemed to be performed as explained to me.

We received 6 roofing estimates. Van Derhoof's estimate was on the high side but it wasn't the highest. We felt comfortable going with them because of the confidence we had in what Mr Everett recommended. The roof has a 50 year transferable warranty. The work was completed in four days. Tom, the foreman was very helpful. He car pooled from Parish with his crew everyday. The weather turned nasty but they worked right through in the rain and snow..... Very professional job.

Van Derhoof Roofing were very professional. They were higher priced, and that is why I eliminated them. They came here to give me the quote. The overall experience was favorable.

Called them the day earlier (based on reviews provided at Angie's List) and they not only had the best price of the 3 estimates I got, but were there the next day. Very pleased. Now, I can't tell if there was any gutter or roof shingle damage from the job, until the roof is bare again (and I've not seen the actual bill, but expect it to match the estimate I got over the phone) but so far am very pleased and would use them again.

Van Derhoof replaced our roof using supurb quality and professionalism. They showed up on time and cleaned up at the end of each day. At the end of the job, they walked around with us and fixed up anything and everything to our exacting specifications. They used high quality materials, and at the end of the job, we had a new roof that is a definite improvement to our house, not just functionally but also aesthetically. We would recommend Van Derhoof without hesitation.

They were good and I liked them. It was a free quote. They were professional. They were one of the higher priced ones but they were very professional about it. I didn't really appreciate the pricing point. They were very courteous and got right back to me.

I selected Van der Hoof for an estimate based on their excellent reputation. Having had a minor roof repair done by them on my previous house, I knew they were likely to be more expensive than other companies. I obtained estimates from three companies including Van der Hoof. Two estimates came in between $9,000 and $9.500; Van der Hoof's estimate was over $13,000 for the same work. Based on cost and two references from people I know, I selected one of the other companies whose estimates were closer to my target budget. I give Van der Hoof an A rating for the quality of the actual services I received (i.e., receiving an estimate).
