They came as promised, did a quick job cutting and grinding the trees with their huge machine and cleaned up afterwards. I gave 4.5 stars overall instead of 5 only because after tree stump grinding the wood chips were not raked up smoothly. I had to spend a couple of hours raking them to improve the overall appearance. However I would highly recommend Upstate to anyone looking for tree service.

We originally were hoping to find a trustworthy company to remove some trees from our backyard. Upstate NY Tree Service gave us a quote and then mentioned that they could give us an additional discount since they were working on a job in the same area. We already paid in full, however, 2 weeks later now the job is still not complete. Our backyard is dug up, tree stumps were not ground out (as discussed during the quote), and tree limbs are still in our front yard (we have received complaints from neighbors). Based on reviews from other sites, this is a common theme with them. They are also avoiding answering our calls. We ended up resolving the issue 6 weeks later but communication and timing could have been much better. The job done was satisfactory.

They did a fantastic job. I had a hard deadline for the work I needed done and they came out on a Monday gave a quote and they were back on Thursday to do the job. They did great work!

Josh was very responsive and the tree removal and stump grinding work was done in a timely manner. JG Lawn was competitive in price and I was greatly satisfied with the service. I would hire Josh again!

The crew were very professional, personable, & cleaned up after all the trees were removed and the trees were large Spruce & Willow as well as some bushes were trimmed at no extra charge. We'll hire them again in the future.

The prompt service was appreciated taking down a large damaged maple tree before a storm could blow it down and potentially do much damage.

They were reasonably priced but did not follow customer instruction or instructions not communicated to work crew by management.

Great deal on the tree removal, not too much mess left over. Took a little longer then was quoted but it was a big job. Followup from owner made the difference.

Hired him to cut down two trees. Did not show up when he said he would. Had to keep calling him. Finally showed up. When I arrived home he had left two 10 foot stumps. Called several times, he said he would be back to finish the job. Never came back. Tried texting him, responded a couple of times. Said he would be back soon to finish. Would not respond to texts or calls. Took him to small claims court. Of course, he did not show up. Big surprise. Won judgment against him for $600.00. Of course, he did not pay or respond to my letter demanding payment. Have not followed through on other options available to me but I will.

I had 5 ash trees that needed removal. Two very large and 3 medium. I was promised a Wednesday appointment, then a Thursday appointment and they ended up coming on Friday. That would be my only complaint. The price was competitive, the work was expertly done, cleanup was meticulous. The foreman even cut a couple of slices of tree for me as a memento of the occasion. THANK YOU!!! I have more trees to come down and will be hiring them again.

This company was very professional with the work they did. They put boards down so their trucks didnâ t dig up my lawn. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. The workers were polite. I would definitely hire them again!

They did a great job. Lonnie came out and gave us a quote, and they started working the next day! We had 6 trees cut down in our fenced back yard. They removed part of our fence, and brought the truck right back. They tore up our yard, but totally worth it. These guys are professional and know what they are doing! Highly recommend.

They did not finish job. Left all tree on my lawn and for 2 weeks was told truck broke down. I have had to rent chain saw to cut this very large tree on our own and dispose of all the wood. Very frustrating....

The crew was hard working and professional. They took extra care by putting down plywood on our lawn where they had to drive the big rig. Also their clean up was done very well.

Very disappointed with this service. Lonnie was nice enough, but when all the mulch was cleared from one of the trees he cut down a couple months later, a piece of tree trunk was still in evidence, sticking up from the ground and leaving a hazard in my yard -- which was what I hired him and paid him $4,320 (!) to remove in the first place. When I called him, admittedly a few months later (at the prompting and on the advice of everyone I told this story to), to come by and finish the job, he never responded to my texts. I now have to pay more money to get the root remnant removed and have a level ground. I am very disappointed about this, even if I do take some responsibility for contacting him months later. The person who maintains the grounds around my house took a while to transfer the mulch and reveal what was underneath. However, given the amount of money involved, I do believe he should have paid me the courtesy of coming by and using small-scale equipment to get rid of the root remnant.

I got 7 estimates to remove 1 pine and 2 monster cottonwoods, take away the logs, grind the stumps & above ground roots, and haul the chips away and Upstate NY Tree Service was the most reasonable and timely. The work surpassed my expectations by far! The hard-working crew was respectful of my property, the man in the bucket worked like a surgeon, and they cleaned up every night before they left (it was a 3-day job). I will recommend them to everyone!
