Description of Work: Renewal by Anderson provides the product, but the actual work was done by Solvay Glass. My comments are only about the windows themselves, which are the best replacement windows we have ever purchased. The only thing we did not expect was that the interior surfaces did not come pre-finished. That work needed to be done separately.

Description of Work: The only problem was that the salesman did not tell us that the interior surfaces of the windows came unfinished. But -- when Solvay Glass heard that we were paying for someone to finish the windows, they made it good. We love the windows, and are glad we purchased the Renewal By Anderson product. The cost is high, but we replaced 9 large casement windows, 2 sliding glass doors, and a front window with two tiers of casement windows and a half circle above that.

Description of Work: If you can afford the price, this is a great company to work with. They do quality work, and deliver a great product.Installation cost is on the high end.In my case there was a delay with completion of the job due to one of the windows, the wrong size was delivered. Upon completion, the installers left my home well tidied up. I was very satisfied, and the windows work very well, and efficient.

Description of Work: The provider was Anderson Windows. Their representative in this area is Solvay Glass, who did the installation. We replaced our living room and basement windows as well as two sliding glass doors. Everything was done professionally and on time. The only glitch was that we did not realize that the windows would be unfinished. When Solvay Glass realized that interior finishing had never been addressed in their sales presentation, they covered almost 50% of our cost to have that done. The Renewal by Anderson windows are expensive, but their ratings are so good that we are hoping for less winter heat loss and minimal heat and sun intrusion in summer, especially through our 15' high front window.

Description of Work: Solvay Glass is the only source for Renewal By Anderson windows, which are highly rated. (We cannot comment on Anderson's Smart Sun glass until we live through a year with it.) We felt they were the best product available, particularly because our front window has 2 banks of large casement windows topped by a large half round window. We replaced 11 other windows and 2 patio doors also, which explains the high cost. Everyone came as scheduled, and the Solvay Glass crew worked efficiently and well. There were two damaged items -- replacements have been ordered and should arrive shortly. My only complaint -- and it's a big one -- is that neither Anderson nor Solvay Glass pre-stain the windows. We now have to have a separate painter come in to do this. Because the front window is about 16' high, and the patio doors need to be taken out for staining, the cost factor is much higher than it would be if the windows had been pre-stained before installation. This was not made clear during the initial sales presentation. Other than that, I would recommend Solvay Glass for your projects with the condition that arrangements be made to pre-stain/paint wood windows and doors before installation.

We had a couple of issues, but they sent somebody right out to get it straightened out. We all agreed on everything and I was very happy with it. I spent about $6800 on that work. They came and got right to work and did a fine job. I did not even know that they were here half the time and they cleaned up well after they finished the work and that was very good. The only problem I had was that they had a little problem returning calls sometimes, but I had the same problem in getting back to them. We had to increase the price a little bit because we had to do the stairs a little bit different.
Description of Work: I used Solvay Glass and they finished putting windows in about 2 weeks ago.

We had been considering having windows replaced. A representative was going door to door signing people up for estimates and offering other incentives. We agreed and arranged a time for an in-home estimate in early August 2010. The company subsequently contacted us offering an earlier appointment which we took. This first meeting with the rep. was fine. He presented as professional, helpful and well-versed. An appointment for a second visit-after the estimate had been completed was set up. The rep. was very insistent that both my husband and I be there. This is no easy feat given our work schedules, but we selected a date that was possible. Between that first visit and the date we received at least 3 messages from the company wanting us to call them-to change the meeting date, as well as something about marketing. We found this a bit annoying . On the date of the second meeting, my husband was home. However, I had an emergency at work and was about 40 minutes late. I called my husband to let him know. Certainly, everyone's time is valuable but this could not be helped. According to my husband, the rep. was displeased about this and even made a comment about my "waiting till he left to come home." I was not present and did not hear this comment. However, if the rep, did say this, I think it was very unprofessional and rude. When I got home, the rep. showed me the estimate for 17,000+. He wanted a decision. I basically said we were still getting estimates. I also indicated that while the windows are supposed to be high quality, I was not sure they'd be worth that price. The rep.'s attitude changed abruptly as he responded "Well we can't help you then." We asked that he leave a copy of the estimate as we were still deciding, and Solvay Glass was not entirely out of the running. He refused. All he left us was a paper with the number written on it. Then he packed his stuff and left without saying goodbye. At that point, Solvay Glass was most certainly not going to be a consideration-nor will it ever be in the future.
Description of Work: We had two visits from a representative. First visit to measure windows. The second visit to discuss the price for the services.

From start to finish, (promo, estimate, measuring, installation, through follow up) the service was excellent. The crew was efficient, friendly, punctual, and cleaned up. We were having so many replaced at holiday time, however we couldn't be more pleased.

The original agreement signed on May 20, 2005 stated it would be 4-6 weeks to start construction and approx. 3-4 days to complete construction. It took them over 12 weeks to start the project and then it technically has never been completed. The room has leaked since day one when they stated the job was completed in Sept. of 2005. They have only made nine attempts to fix the issues with this room since its supposed completion in Sept. 2005. They have even had a service Tech. from the room manufacturer out to my home on Aug. 8,2006. At that time he said it was fixed when he left. The room still leaks, it actually leaks more then ever. I have asked for a complete refund and have given this company more then enough time to provide me with a usable product, I still owe them $2000 dollars. The contract stated final payment of $7333 upon job completion (they have been paid more in good faith, then the contract), I consider this job not to be complete as the room leaks so bad it is unusable.
Description of Work: Solvay Glass installed a sunroom on my home beginning in Aug. 2005 and technically still never completed.
