Vitaly made the appointment with me and showed up on time. He refinished the ruined floor areas in about and hour. I can't even tell where the repair was.
Description of Work: A speaker was dropped on my wood floor and dug it out it in several places. Vitaly filled in the ruined places and finished them to match the rest of the floor.

Mr Pototsky, owner of Restoration Guild LLC came out and professionally repaired the 2 spots so you can not tell where the damage was done. I was most pleased with his knowledge and professional outstanding work. We have moved over 20 times with the military and have had many refinishers work on our furniture, he is by far the best we have encountered. Will use him again if I should need furniture repair.
Description of Work: My wood table was marred, finish melted in 2 places by warm Glade scented oil that was accidently laid on the table, Mr Pototsky came out and professionally repaired the 2 spots so you can not tell where the damage was done.

The craftsman had placed canvas down and protected the surronding carpet and furniture in the room. He and his coworker used various stains and matched the color perfectly to the wood and blended in the wood finish to minimize the scratches.
Description of Work: An antique hope chest was restored. It had been badly scratched. The deal was for 2 hours of labor and restoration.

He was professional and neat. I was pleased with the work performed and very glad to have someone who would come to the house, rather than having to take big pieces of furniture somewhere. I would definitely use him again. In fact, he took a small end table with a broken leg back to his shop to repair.
Description of Work: Mr. Potatsky fixed a broken hinge on an antique sideboard in the dining room. He also resecured several wooden knobs that had come off of chest of drawers. Additionally, he reglued some pieces of veneer that had come off of old china cabinet.

I had six rock maple captains chairs that were about 55 yrs old. My husband and I used Murphy's oil soap and cleaned them all, taking off a lot of the finish. Vitaly was able to refinish the chairs and match the existing stain perfectly. It took a week longer then what was promised, but so worth it. We are very pleased with our chairs. The cost was lower then the other estimates and the work was exceptional

The table job was done in-home, and went very well. The other job involved my dropping off the plinths and then picking them up when they were ready, which also was fine.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List special: two hours of in-home restoration for $89. They worked a miracle on my grandmother's dropleaf side table, which had been badly scratched and stained. I had used this firm once before, asking them to stain bare wood plinths (supports) for a carved fireplace mantel, The finish matched beautifully!

We have an Ethan Allen shaker style bed that had, as it turns out, crapy bed rails made out of plywood. One of these poorly designed rails broke in have when I sat on the bed to put on my shoes (I weigh 225#). Restoration Guild did a fabulous job of replacing these crapy bed rails with solid oak replicas. He stained them to match the cherry color perfectly and the bed is now a much more valuable and sturdy piece. We will definitely utilize RG for any of our furniture repair needs. My strongest recommendation!!!

I delivered the table to Restoration Guild as agreed. We agreed on a price and I left it to their degression to improvement the stability of the table legs. The table was returned in a reasonable amount of time and the end result met my expectations. The table was again steady and stable. Great job.

The entire repair took about 10 working days. I delivered the chair to their shop on Juniper Street in Chesapeake, although they said they could pick it up for a $75 charge. I called them about 10 days later to check on their progress and was told it was completed. When I arrived to pick it up, the chair was ready as promised. My wife is very happy with the results. I would most definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I had the open shield in the back of a dining room chair repaired. One of the folks cleaning my house dropped the chair and broke a piece of wood out of the chair back. Restoration Guild replaced the broken piece and stained in so it perfectly matched the rest of the chair.

Vitaly arrived promptly at my home today to repair/restore an old cedar chest that had been my mother's. He did an outstanding job, and the chest looks better than new. Last year, Restoration Guild repaired/restored an old chair that had been in my husband's family. They did an outstanding job then, too. We have another chair that needs to be repaired, and we will certainly call Restoration Guild. Vitaly is a craftsman in the true sense of the word.
Description of Work: Another wonderful job!

Good. First the shutter they were able to piece in wood and sand the dry rot. After I paint all my shutters, you won't be able to see any difference. With wood shutters going for over 150 per, this was an opportunity to save money. The kitchen chair was repaired for the same reason, it would have been impossible to match the set. I will have them do more work for me in the future. Lastly, I think this company works in several locations. I dropped off the pieces at their shop off Old Greenbriar Rd in Chesapeake but, you have to call ahead and make an appointment to meet them there.
Description of Work: Repair wooden exterior shutter that had dry rot and missing a piece. Repair kitchen chair that an amateur (me) tried to previously repair. Chair was actually broken in two places.

They picked up the piece and when it was dropped off it just looked great! Definitely using them again!
Description of Work: We had an old piece of solid mahagony chest of drawers that needed work. We asked him to match the wood staining to another piece that was my husband's grandmother piece. There were some changes done to the piece to make it more functional as well. If the piece was great before, it is now even better! It is a small business, but we knew that it is restoring and requires a specialization and not a factory approach. It was great experience! We are looking forward to restoring other pieces with the team.

Vitalie and his father were on time and got right to work. They are expensive but a bargain when considering the quality of work. They are true artisan craftsmen, not a run of the mill furniture repair service. We are very pleased and we keep feeding them work as we can afford it.
Description of Work: The initial service was for 2 hours of repair at my home. They were able to make expert repairs on an antique carved bamboo bird cage and a 1917 victrola. We were so impressed on the first visit we had a cherry drop-leaf table refinished and repairs to an antique decoupage table. They then restored vintage cane seat chairs. We keep feeding them work as we can afford it.

Very professional. Used a pad on the floor on which he placed his equipment. A first class job. Could not see any evidence that the dresser top had been damaged. Work was good enough we scheduled a return visit to repair a piano top and to refinish two night stands.

Overall we were pleased with the exception that there was no opportunity for a free estimate. We emailed pictures of what needed repair, but they needed to see the actual drawers which would have resulted in an additional $45.00 fee. We ended up completing some of the repairs ourself since we could see paying the additional fees. However, the policies were clearly stated on their website so we have no complaints.
Description of Work: Some of the dresser drawers needed adjustments and new glide stops. While they did not have the glide stops on hand, the refinisher did tell us how to order them online. If we wanted him to order them, it would have been an additional fee for another house call which seemed a bit excessive for a relatively minor repair. The adjustments were made and took about 1.5 hours. Not a bad deal since we purchased the "big deal" special.

They arrived on time. They did a fantastic job of ensuring all of the screws in the table and chairs were secure. However, they did a fair job in actually polishing the table. I don't know what they used, but it looked horrible. Not only did the drying time take several hours, so they weren't able to actually help me put the table back together and bring it back inside the house, the table actually looked worse than before it was worked on. I ended up having to sand and re-polish the table myself. Thankfully they didn't ruin anything, but I don't think the deal I got was a very good deal.
Description of Work: I had a 9 person leather chairs and kitchen table that needed to be recoated with polish to protect the table and the chairs checked for loose screws.

Response from Old Peg Furniture Services
Member presented us with a table that had scratches, rubs and finish inconsistencies. It was a dark finish table with a satin sheen, almost black in color where any imperfection would show. It was clearly stated what, how and where (the garage-because there was a concern over the smell of the finish) the work will be completed and how long it would take to dry and how long not to use it for. All was agreed upon between the craftsman and the owner before the work started. The work was completed as agreed upon and all paper work signed which states that the customer “accepted (by)” signed and dated. At that time the customer and the craftsmen were happy with the results. As far as the Big Deal, the customer had received the following services: Two craftsmen came out and tightened all the chairs, re-glued loose joints in the ones that needed it, touched up the chairs and the finish work cleaned from drips and so on. The table top was cleaned, gouges filled, color touched up, prepared for finish and two coats of wipe on urethane applied. Once again because of the fumes the customer instructed to leave the table in the garage. Paperwork was signed (copy available), everyone was happy. This Big Deal was a Great deal!

Outstanding- Vitaly and his father-in-law did a fantastic job. I subsequently contracted them to make multiple additional repairs to several other pieces of antique furniture that was damaged during a move, and I had them come in and resurface my kitchen cabinets. I really can't say enough good things about them. They may be a bit pricey- certainly I have spent a lot with them (?- don't have much to compare to- I generally thought the price was worth the results), but they really do wonderful work. They were even willing and able to coordinate with my upholsterer to make some needed repairs that were discovered after removing the fabric on a chair and couch that I had refurbished. Both pieces are now solid and beautiful. Highly recommend them!

I bought a $79 coupon for 2 hours of on-site furniture repair, intending to have my very old and wobbly family dining room table repaired. I didn't read the coupon's description, regluing is not an on-site option as straps are required to be left in place for at 24 hours, meaning they would have had to come back to get the straps, hence job would not be completed in 2 hours. Discussed options with Vitaly, dining table has many problems, much more extensive than just regluing. We decided that I'd have my four very wobbly and old wooden dining chairs repaired. The chairs were restored to their original strength, probably have another 80+ years in them! Very, very happy with the results. Vitaly is a consumate professional, I will eventually take the dining table to him to have it restored!
Description of Work: Repaired my grandparent's four very wobbly oak dining chairs.
