After speaking with the gentleman and finding out there were additional charges to come to my home, we decided to cancel and request for refund. The Big Deal info page was very vague regarding these additional charges.

He called and asked what I wanted done. I advised I needed 6 dining room chairs repaired because they were wobbly. He stated that they would need glued and that it would need to be done in shop. He advised that it would cost $85.00 per chair. I advised him that it stated online that it's listed as $69.00 per chair. He stated that I had purchased this Big Deal and so I could not take advantage of the $69.00 deal. He then stated the total cost would be $549.00, minus my Big Deal offer ($200.00). I then asked how much it would cost if I did the $69.00 per chair offer and he advised it would cost about $3.00 more plus trip charge ($39.00). I agreed for him to do the work and also agreed to pay the $39.00 trip charge up front and that the total amount I owed was $349.00. He then stated that the $39.00 was additional and was going to be charged once at pick up and then again at delivery. It seemed like he was constantly changing the pricing on me and so I decided to not go through with this deal and contacted Angie's List for my full refund. I would not recommend his services.

On August 1st, 2014, I purchased a $99 Special for Restoration Guild, LLC to repair one wooden piece. When I first spoke with the owner, Mr.Vitaly Pototsky, I relayed that I had gone to his website and was awestruck viewing the beautiful workmanship his firm had done. I have two Ethan Allen, Classic Manor, solid wood tables that had been badly damaged. I knew Mr. Pototsky would do a lovely repair job, but because they were so badly damaged, was uncertain if he could restore them completely. He gave me a super price of $125 to repair the second table. Both pieces were picked up on August 1st, 2014. On September 3rd, when Mr. Pototsky returned the two tables, I could not believe my eyes! I could not tell where they had been damaged! The end table is a large octagon inlaid walnut table, which had a very large gouged out area that was spread over its top. The square walnut inlaid cocktail table had been badly nicked and scratched all over from several moves over the years. Now both tables look as good as they did when I purchased them. I am still truly awestruck by Mr. Pototsky's amazing talents. He is a true MASTER of wood!!!

We contacted Vitaly and he gave us an over the phone quote. he then came to our home a week later to discuss what we wanted. We showed him the picture of the stain we wanted and he insured us he could stain the cabinets, doors and frames. He said he would call us with samples of the stained oak and he gave us a firm cost. About two weeks later we went to his shop and he showed us samples of the stain on the oak and we picked the one we liked. The following week he started the work. He showed up Monday with his father and they sanded and stained the cabinet frames. He took the doors with him to stain. On Wednesday he put the clear coat on the frames and we gave him our new hardware. The following Monday he put another coat of clear coat and put the doors and drawers back on. He put actual stained wood on the sides, stained our electrical outlet cover and replaced the the molding and foot boards. The cabinets were totally restored and looked brand new. They were beautiful.

I delivered our table to the shop which took me a minute to locate when I pulled up. Vitaly, the owner, met me and provided me with a reasonable estimate. He called about a week later to inform me that the repairs were complete. Outstanding quality and the legs are more sturdy than they have been in years. I highly recommend Vitaly and will be calling him for work in the future.

They did a great job. This is the second time I have used them. The dresser looked as good as new when they were finished. They got the job done in about 1-2 hours and they showed up on time. The scheduling was fine. They sent 2 guys out to do the job and they were very professional.

Vitali (I hope I spelled his name right) arrived on time and was very professional. He went right to work after I showed him the pieces that needed his attention. I had 2 furniture pieces with nicks and scratches. He matched the colors perfectly. More importantly, he repaired a kitchen chair that the rungs had come apart from the back of the chair. The chair looks like new. I don't worry about anyone sitting on it again. Vitali's attention to detail makes me believe that her is a very patient man. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to my friends. Great job, Vitali!!

One of the chairs from my dining room set was damaged. It was inherited from my parents and is dear to me. When I saw the damage I was heartsick. The back of the chair was cracked through at an angle as if someone had thrown it to the ground or tried to jam it where it wouldn't fit. I couldn't imagine anyone being able to repair it unless they really knew what they were doing. I bought the $99 Big Deal and took the chair to Vitaly at the Restoration Guild. I don't know what Vitaly actually did to repair the chair, but I assume it included clamping, gluing and refinishing the chair back. I picked up.the chair a couple of days ago and am delighted with the results. It looks like new. No evidence of the damage or repair. The back was refinished to perfectly match the rest of the chair. I'll be taking the remaining dining chairs to Vitaly for a tune up (re-gluing the leg braces, etc.) in the future so that I can pass the dining room set on to the next generation.

This was well beyond a gorilla glue job and he returned it in beautiful condition and it's been 4 months with no sign of failure. Professional and courteous. A little difficult to find and I recommend calling first...a true mom and pop shop. He is very knowledgeable and most of all, cares about workmanship and his reputation as a craftsman. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed!

I emailed the company on their website to get an appointment and figured I would have a wait for a reply. Instead, I received a phone call within an hour. I was able to text him a photo of the damage and described where I lived. It turned out I was on his way back from another service call so he was able to come by that afternoon. They were very polite and promptly repaired the buffet that I originally called about and also had a few minutes to fix the bed rail. Their prices are in line with other furniture repair places I have worked with in the past when a house call is required. I would definitely call them again.

We had decided to redo our 1980s kitchen, but decided that we really did not need to purchase new cabinets as our old ones were very sound and we still liked the layout. We would however need to find someone who could restore the finish after all the years of use. We found that person in Vitaly Pototsky, owner of Restoration Guild. He is indeed an artist and our kitchen cabinets are now beautiful and look even better than new. We could not be more pleased with the results! Vitaly came out to the house shortly after we called him and proceeded to carefully exam our cabinets, informing us that indeed he could restore them for us. He gave us his estimate on the spot based upon the numbers of pieces he would need to work on. (We were actually amazed that we had so many doors and drawers). It was a big job and we felt the estimate was very fair. As he was able to start right away, he labeled all of the pieces and took them back to his workshop. We agreed to find and purchase the cabinet hardware for him to put on for us. About a week later, we took the purchased hardware to his workshop for him to install. While there, he showed us the now completed doors and drawers. He had created his own" recipe" for the stain to get the exact color we wanted. The finish was clean and bright and greatly enhanced the wood grain. The improvement was amazing. The workshop was really more like an artist's studio with items of all types from antiques to new in different stages of restoration. It was very impressive. A few days later, he and his assistant brought the doors and drawers back to the house. They refinished the cabinet frames, installed all of the newly redone pieces and completed the hardware installation. He made sure that everything was a perfect match. The entire process was very smooth, the kitchen was never disrupted and the cabinetry never looked better! We would highly recommend Restoration Guild to anyone needing any type of furniture or cabinet repair or restoration. In fact, we have a few pieces of our own we plan to have done.
Description of Work: Restoration Guild restored and refinished all of the cabinets in our kitchen which consisted of 30+ doors and 15 drawers. These were all carefully reinstalled with cabinet frames finished to match. We also had cabinet hardware installed on the finished cabinets. They also replaced the floor of the sink cabinet which had had some water damage.

I called to make an appointment so that I did not want to waste a trip there so he set the time, I showed up 10 minutes prior to the appointment and he was not even there and proceeded to tell me that he forgot to put me on his schedule. He wanted me to wait around on him for close to an hour so that he could meet me, but I refused.....decided to take my business elsewhere.
Description of Work: I had a scheduled appointment where he gave me the time to show up, I drove 45 minutes and got there to find that he was not there. I called him and he was out and was not going to make it back for awhile. Very unprofessional to make a scheduled appointment and not be there for it.

It’s a true fact that we failed and made a mistake and did not put Mrs. [member name removed] on our schedule. I’ve apologized many times to her but what I really wanted to mention here is that I tried my best to correct the situation. I offered multiple solutions/options but she refused and had zero tolerance toward my mistake.

My movers lost the bolts for my bed. The store from which I purchased the bed does not carry that line anymore; and the company which made the bed has gone "out of business". Mr Pototsky arrived on time. He took measurements, because I did not have any of the bolts for reference. They were of three different sizes and types (some with washers). He left after the initial visit, but called me back within an hour to ask if he could come back the same day to complete the job. Needless to say I was happy about this. For me this meant no more sleeping on the floor. He came back with the bolts and a helper, and completed the job. Mr. Pototsky was polite and very professional.

I just got the stuff back last Monday. They had very good professionalism and the quality of their work was just out of this world. I was also pleased with their price. The owner himself wanted to do the repairs of the antiques and the antiques were like 170 years old but it took him 10 months before he had a time when he could allot two days to do the work himself.

Arrangements were made so I could meet the repair person at a Norfolk location as their office is out in Chesapeake. This worked out very well for me. He gave me a price and said he would call when it was ready. I told him it was not an emergency. However, many many weeks went by and I did not hear from him. I called and he said it had been ready for a while and somehow he thought I was going to call him?? (possible language barrier) He did an excellent job and so far the work seems to be holding up just fine. Several weeks later, I had a dining room chair repaired with a broken wooden back. The price he gave me was more than the lst item and when I questioned him, he said that was the hourly rate. I told him that was not what he charged me only a month ago so he agreed to charge the same rate. (reluctantly, however) I had to go out to Chesapeake to pick that chair up (which was fine) but he was a little abrupt with me because I was a few short minutes late and he said he had another appt. I did not appreciate that at all. His personality was not the friendliest, but I was paying for his expertise, not his personality. Even though I don't particularly like him, I would use this business again as their quality of work is very good.

The work was good and reasonably priced. Despite being unfamiliar with the camel bench, a family treasure from an Army tour in Iran over 60 years ago that was in bad shape, he was able to put it back together very nicely. Likewise, the chest was in ragged condition and he did a good job with it. The chair job was straightforward and unremarkable, but well done.

I was very pleased w/the final product. Initially the cost estimate was more than what I wanted to pay but when you take into account the amount of time that is involved in repairing and refinishing, it was really reasonable. I have done similar type of work and I know the labor that is involved in this type of work. I had two chairs that I initially wanted to have done but I decided to have the rocking chair done 1st and hold off on the 2nd chair for the time being. It belonged to my wife's mother and it is something that we have been wanting to have fixed for a long time. We are extremely pleased w/the results and highly recommend Vitaly and Restoration Guild. In fact, we are getting ready to have him refinish the 2nd chair.
