They showed up on time, examined the table top and advised us that he would be able to improve the look of the table but could not guarantee the table would look like new. They were here for about 2 hours and when they finished they table looked great, almost like new. We can leave the table uncovered and you would never know it was damaged. They were extremely professional and cleaned up meticulously after the work. I have since used them to refinish another table and some chairs. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a coupon from Angie's list for furniture repair for $89. Restoration Guild refinished the top of out dining room table which had been damaged by a hot serving plate which caused the table cloth to melt into the table top finish

The job went very well overall. My only suggestion would be for Vitaly to come up with a standardized pricing system that's easily understood by the client. However, due to the nature of the work, I understand pricing is complicated. Perhaps a flat, hourly rate that takes craftsmanship into account may be a good alternative? Regardless, for people who care about and value their antiques, I highly recommend Restoration Guild as skilled, professional craftsmen.
Description of Work: We hired Restoration Guild via the Angie's List deal of two hours of on-site furniture repair for $89. Vitaly and his partner showed up right on time and did a very good job cleaning and repairing an antique dresser and small cabinet. They worked past the two-hour timeframe in order to ensure excellent craft. Since we have several pieces that need work, we requested estimates on: Cleaning and repairing a marble slab that tops the small cabinet previously mentioned ($150); Making three plain mahogany knobs missing from the dresser previously mentioned ($30 each); Repairing, cleaning, and making missing decorative elements of a large chest of drawers ($900); Repairing and cleaning a glass-fronted display case ($325); and Repairing, cleaning, making missing decorative elements of a large chest of drawers ($500), and replacing a missing marble slab to top it ($250). We opted for a few pieces that we could budget for the time being, and this work was done with care and professionalism. We understand that craftsmanship is expensive and worthwhile, but I must admit that the prices will cause us to undertake future projects judiciously.

Response from Old Peg Furniture Services
Hello, I take all concerns seriously from my clients. When pricing work that involves carving of custom pieces (such was with this estimate) several steps are taken. Here is the short version. First, the study of shape and size of the pieces to be carved. Second, the measuring and transfer to paper and/or wood, and last carving of the piece (this step is the longest, which takes patience, focus and artistic skill). If I would have to charge for my time by the hour ($85) It would be much more expensive per project. I wish there was a standard to pricing custom carving work but no project is the same and such work always takes longer than I would like. Looking at the $89 Bid Deal; we come in (2 craftsmen) for 2 hours and stay until we complete what we said that we will do and yes we do stay longer if necessary. The customer gets a total 4-5 men hours of labor for $89- real cost $340-$425, the result…putting the clients best interest first no matter the cost! Finally, the word “cleaning” should be substituted for “Restoration of Finish” which involves selective removal of contaminants, touchup of missing color, filling of large scrapes or missing parts and finally applying a hand rubbed finish where applicable (French polish) to the piece. Our work is 100% Guaranteed because we don’t take the money until the client is satisfied.

I bought an antique couch for the sitting area of my bedroom. Due to the narrowness of my staircase, it could only be moved upstairs if the legs were removed. I called Restoration Guild, LLC on a Thursday afternoon, and Vitaly was able to schedule me in the very next day. He and his father-in-law arrived promptly at 9am. They immediately began working, and were diligent in the removal, cleaning, and reattachment of the legs and their supports to the couch. The two were courteous and pleasant. The job did end up taking a little bit longer than the time alloted, but Vitaly did not charge extra for it like some companies would. I was very pleased with their professionalism and also with the work completed... the legs are in much better condition now than they were beforehand. I was happy that I called Restoration Guild, LLC. and plan on using them in the future to do a couple restoration jobs.

It went quite well. They were unable to remove the scratches on my dining room table, but got rid of a lot of little marks and some heat damage. The table looks much better. I was most impressed with what they were able to with an end table that had some water damage. I didn't think there was much they could do, but it is remarkable what they did do. I will have him come back later to do some work on my desk.

Vitaly and his Dad showed up on time and ready to work. I had purchased the Angie's list Special for two hours of furniture repair. Vitaly did not question my coupon and quickly scheudled an appoinment when I asked for it. When I showed him the chairs he did not squablle about the time to repair. I thought he might just tighten a couple screws and throw a little glue in the corner but he asked for an open space to work, I went for a second cup of coffee and by the time I got back he had completely disassembled the four chairs. He replaced dowels and reglued every joint using clamps to hold things in place. He did not ask for more when hern a little over the 2 hour time limit. He asked if he could leave the chairs clamped overnight and come back in the morning to pick pick up his gear. No problem. When the clamps came off, the chairs were like new again and without a single scratch. I was impressed. Don't be put off by the intensity & seriouness with which father and son work. They are talented craftsman! Highly recommend them to repair for your broken furniture.

I used a Groupon for some of the work. The rest of the work I paid cash. They did an outstanding job. The work was perfect. Also, they were punctual and polite. They gave us a price on repairing a dining room table that made it more cost effective to replace the table as it did not have any sentimental value. The rest of the work was very reasonable. We have some other furniture that needs to be repaired and we will certainly use this company again. First class work and service. We are extremely pleased with this company. AAA+++++

Vitoly Petrotsky arrived on time and took my chest to his studio. He quoted me a price and a time frame for the work and gave me a detailed explanation of what he would do. He returned the piece one week early in perfect condition. I am extremely pleased with his work and the price quoted was the price charged.

Fantastic!!! Appointment set up within a week. They showed up early and stayed late. Cleaned up their mess. Put a mat down underneath their tools.
Description of Work: Bought the big deal and had them do two things -- fix the poster on a poster bed and install drawer handles on a dresser. Even though my deal was for 2 hours, they stayed a little longer to get the job down. For the poster bed -- this is my childhood bed and one of my kids broke the poster off the bed. She cracked the place where the pole inserted and that piece is now missing. Vitaly made a repair from scratch and you can't tell it was ever broken. They also installed cabinet draw pulls on a dresser that I was afraid to do myself. They also fixed the drawers so they are easier to pull out. Now we can use this chest! I highly, highly recommend them and already have an estimate for another repair by them. Thanks!

Vitally came out in December for an estimate to finish a job that We'd had waiting to be done for months. He was right on time for the estimate. We agreed on a price but had to wait for the job because of previous commitments and the holiday season, but I didn't have a problem with this based on other reports submitted by Angie's List members.... i.e. I'm willing to sacrifice time for quality. When he was able to come finish the job, it was completed with everything and more than I expected. They used a water based stain that had very little to no odor, which was nice since we have two 11 month old children at home. I would absolutely recommend Restoration Guild LLC if you have any furniture that needs to be refinished.

I called Restoration Guild (Vitaly Pototsky) and spoke with him and he scheduled to come to my home within 3 days. He arrived promptly and gave a estimate for repair. He proceeded to repair the furniture on site and within 2 hours the piece looked brand new. He is amazing! A true craftsman! I feel very fortunate to have seen his information on Angie's list. I have now given him two tables in my home for him to refinish.

Very satisfied, I highly recommend Restoration Guild and would use his services again without hesitation.
Description of Work: My husband called Restoration Guild (after reading positive reviews on Angie's List) to give us an estimate to repair an antique secretary that was severely damaged during a recent move. One foot of the piece was completely broken off. We were extremely pleased with the service, to say the least. Mr. Pototsky came to the house (on time), evaluated the furniture, and gave us a very reasonable estimate. He was able to complete the repairs on site and did an amazing job. The repair took well over two hours and he worked diligently and efficiently the entire time, a true professional, and a very gifted craftsman. Highly recommended.

When I called Vitaly to ask for an estimate, he arranged an appointment to come to my house in a very timely fashion. He was punctual, gave me a fair estimate, and told me exactly what work he could do and how the end result would look. He performed the work in a timely fashion. I am very happy with his work. Where he fixed chips and scratches in the wood furniture, I can not tell there was ever damage there. The antique chairs which had been passed down in my family now feel very stable after regluing, and I can not see any external evidence of the glue. I will use him again for any furniture repair in the future. I have not had much furniture repair done in the past, so I can not give an educated statement on his pricing. I would recommend Restoration Guild for furniture repair.
Description of Work: He repaired six pieces of furniture. Three pieces were antique wooden chairs which needed extensive regluing. One piece was an upholstered chair which needed an edge of the upholstery reglued to the chair. One piece was a wood entertainment center with multiple chips and a broken door. He refinished the chipped areas and made a part to fix the door so it would run along the track correctly and be stable. Lastly, he fixed some scratches in the finish of a wooden bed frame.

Vitaloy (sp) came out, took a look and said he could do it. He was extremely careful, but quick and had the feet removed in less than 30 minutes, and also restored a few scratches that my wife and I had put on it when we had tried to get it up our stairs. Very courteous, very professional! Highly recommend.
Description of Work: I had a huge mahagony dresser that would not fit around the corner of the stairs. I was faced with the option of returning it, lifiting it through a window, or having the 6" inch feet removed. I decided to see if the feet could be modified so they could be easily removed and put back on, withou any damage being done, or without being able to notice a difference. I received one quote from a local furniture repair "specialist" for $300-600 because it would be "very difficult". Then I called the Restoration Guild.

They could not have been more thorough and professional! They were exacting, punctual, honest, precise, and courteous. The price they quoted was very reasonable, and they completed the work in the time promised. In addition, their customer service was excellent. They were always accessible by phone, even beyond normal working hours. I would not hesitate to recommend them highly! A company of this caliber deserves all of the business they can handle! My kitchen looked beautiful for Christmas, and I am very grateful.
