Shows up to give you estimate. I told him the exact week we can do it. Tells you he can likely do it but just has to check his schedule. Then never gets back you. You call a few days later to find out he can’t get you in and instead of March it has to be sometime April. Called another company which is a bit more expensive and got put on the schedule. Why should I bend over backwards for my own money. You should accommodate me, not the other way around. Professionalism goes a long way.

Marty was a pleasure to work with. Always responsive and very willing to please. He got into our house before we moved in and finished the job well ahead of schedule so we could get settled quickly. The floors look amazing; we’re very happy with the quality. Marty refinished over 2 stories of hardwoods and matched the wood and stain where new needed to be installed. And all that for an extremely reasonable price. We definitely recommend Marty and his team, they did not disappoint in any aspect.

Marty and his crew did a great job refinishing our hardwood floors and matching them to other existing floors that didn't need to be refinished. He was very professional, arrived and finished when he said he would and, as another reviewer said, is just generally a nice guy. One of our other contractors commented on what a nice job Marty did, which says a lot. His quote was also less than two other companies we looked at. Would definitely use him again.

Marty was absolutely fantastic and just a really great guy! He refinished all of the hardwoods throughout my 1920s house. He had his work cut out for him, and I could not be more pleased with the experience or the quality of his work. He was originally scheduled to finish the floors the last week of August. He started and realized I had a ton of work left to do, so he offered to come back to finish the floors when I was done. I can’t thank him enough for doing that! If I hadn’t taken his advise I certainly would have scratched or ruined the floors during the rest of the renovation. Thanks to him my floors are stunning!

They came out beautiful. We are very happy with them. They are professional, neat and on time every morning. We are having them come back and do the rest of our house. I would recommend them very highly.

We hired Marty and his crew to refinish our hardwood floors. He was prompt at answering my calls and questions, reasonably priced, quick to schedule the work, very friendly yet extremely professional. My floors came out beautiful, in fact, we are now hiring them to come back and install hardwoods in our downstairs.

This is the second time I hired Martin for my floors. Different room this time. He is a master craftsman. The best.

Great; from the start Marty was great to work with. We tasked him with replacing carpet with hardwood flooring and blending the hardwood flooring into existing 10 year old floors. Marty did the job is two stages per our request - he installed unfinished hardwood floors and then came back to stain and finish the hardwood floors after other contractors were complete with the project. His work is very clean and the floors are perfectly blended. Best of all was the fact that he was punctual and very responsive. I would definitely hire Marty again.

I am nearly positive that the contractor did not apply three coats of polyurethane to my floors, which is standard for the industry and was specified by our agreement. I was out of town for the week the floors were to be done. A neighbor was watching the property, managing the key, and specifically watching for the contractor's activity. While I was still away, the neighbor contacted me to express concern that the contractor and/or team of workers came to my house on one day only. When I came home, it was immediately apparent that the stairs were not finished properly. There was a rough edge around all of them, and the finish looked scant. The board at the top of the stairs was bare wood, sanded and then "missed" by the finishers. (It's hard to believe someone would have missed this even twice, never mind three times.) I contacted Mr. Miller about my concerns and he returned. He said his team had stripped the floors and applied two coats on a single day, and that they returned the following morning for a couple of hours to apply the third coat. He said my neighbor was wrong. He hand-sanded the stairs and brushed on another coat of poly. (I appreciated the effort, but the result was inadequate.) I remained unconvinced that the entire job was done properly and as agreed upon in writing. I visited Purcell's to ask about products and application standards. I also researched the matter online. Many people say that stripping and applying even two coats on a single day is ill-advised, if not impossible. The weather that week was extremely hot and humid, making this plan even more unreasonable. Although I chose a matte finish, the floors simply do not appear as finished as I expected. (I have had hardwood floors refinished with a matte finish in the past, so I have relevant experience for comparison.) I have also noticed areas in the house where the poly is splashed up onto the moulding. And, as noted, the stairs are completely unsatisfactory. There are still rough edges around most of them, and the finish is barely detectable. Following Mr. Miller's visit, I made three further attempts to share my concerns with him in objective terms. He did not reply to any of them: (1) A letter one month later; (2) a phone call two months after that; (3) a very detailed letter of complaint sent by certified mail three months after that. Aside from the fact that I am dissatisfied with the job, Mr. Miller seems to be violating the terms of his warranty by failing to respond to my communications. It has been 10 months since this job was done. I believe I did not get what I paid for.

They came out to give an estimate on flooring. He came when he said he would come. I think we are going to use them.

I was skeptical when he said it was dustless…but it absolutely was…no dust at all! I would hire him again in a heartbeat. I have already given his name to a friend of mine. Excellent Job ... We had hardwood floors installed. New floors were installed next to existing hardwoods in dining room - they did a great job blending / matching both floors. Marty was on the job every day - that was important to us. The crew showed up every day at the time they said they would .They were very neat and polite. Very little dust, only in the room that they were installing the floors in - amazing ! I called Marty with a question, the day after the job was complete... he came to the house, answered our question and gave us the product that anyone with hardwoods should have on hand. ( Mini wax Wood Putty ) . Would recommend Marty anytime !

Appointment for an estimate was set, took time off from work and they never bothered to show. Of 8 contractors called only 1 has bothered to show.

So happy with the results. Loved that Marty did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. Responsive, Professional, Punctual. Very, very satisfied!

I was very very impressed with the quality of the work done. I was guaranteed it would be dustless and there was NO dust at all. I was amazed. The work was done exactly as we had agreed upon. The floors came out so beautiful. I'm am thrilled with them. I would highly recommend Marty and his company!!!! Marty was professional and so friendly. I have included some before and after photos.

Very professional, arrived on time. The process was dustless and they still hung plastic between rooms not having hardwood floors. They also covered all my kitchen cabinets and countertops. When walking through the house after sanding, I didn't have any dust on my socks! They did a fantastic job; my floors look new! I would call them again in a heartbeat.

Marty and his team did an excellent job installing hardwood floors for us. (Marty really does do the estimate and conduct the work). They removed the previous tile and carpet and installed shoe molding. The transitions involved custom milling and finishing(which turned out beautiful). On time for appointments and work. Worked conducted in timely fashion with cleanup and great care for the rest of the house and finish. Material delivered to residence with proper acclimation time. We are very pleased with this project and will use NYB for future projects.

We were out of town while our floors were refinished so I had to trust Marty to do a good job. When we got home the floors were beautiful!! There was virtually no odor in the house and no mess to clean up. He kept us updated with photos and progress reports through our cell phone. They were very professional and accommodating.I would recommend NYB to any and all of my friends. Great job!!

We set this up weeks ahead of time too coordinate with a trip to NC so we would be away when the work was done. Marty is a spectacular job, the floors exceeded our expectations and he was able to sand out discoloration and stains that we did not think could be removed.
