Do not call this company! Call your local municipality first. My 75 year old mother-in-law had a basement floor drain back up late the night of June 20. Called Mr. Rooter and they came the next morning. They charged 270 dollars to clean from the house to the sewer. The town and the county will do this for free. Then because this did not solve the problem they "snaked" inside the house using a spear head and partially cleared up the problem. They claimed that there was a calcium blockage that could not be cleared and quoted a price of about $3,700.00 to jackhammer and replace a pipe in the house. They never tried a different cutter on the snake. While snaking, they left a huge smelly flooded mess in the basement. Did not try to clean it. The next day the floor drain backed up again. Long story short, after talking to neighbors, we called the county and they came and cleaned from the house to the street using better equipment than Mr. Rooter did. Then we called a reputable plumber who snaked the inside of the house with the proper tools. The calcium blockage was actually grease that was easily cleared with a cutter head on the snake. Each person we spoke with were surprised that Mr. Rooter did not try to use a cutter on the end of the snake. They were not surprised that Mr. Rooter was looking to dig up the basement and replace a pipe to the tune of 3,700 dollars. Apparently they have a reputation. We also tried to contact Mr. Rooter with our concerns and were told a supervisor would call us. After making several calls, we were finally connected to a supervisor 13 days after our first attempt to speak to someone. He ended up telling us we had to talk to his boss. Still waiting to hear from him. I guess they are going to drag it out past the 30 day satisfaction guarantee. I don't exactly know that their 30 day satisfaction guarantee is, but we are not satisfied with them.

Description of Work: We purchase a new home in Cicero and with in the second week the shower was not working. |Since we used Mr. rooter before at our previous home in Dewitt we felt it was only wise to stay with what works, and the professionalism is top notch. Now what did they do? The guy walk in adjusted the knob a certain way and "MAGIC". My wife was happy I did not even have to get up out of my chair. All this with no charge. Did I mention no "CHARGE".

We had water backing up through the drain in our basement, so I called Mr Rooter assuming that the sewer pipe needed to be snaked or rooted. Upon arrival, the professional (Matt, I believe) checked everything out and confirmed my suspicion. He went about his business keeping me up to date throughout the process, and asking questions when needed. Once the pipe had been rooted, he checked all other water sources (sinks, bathtub, etc.) and their pipes for issues. Apparently this complimentary service is part of their process. All in all, I was very pleased. Matt(?) was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and I would certainly recommend Mr Rooter to others in need.

Made an appointment for a clogged floor drain in advance two days prior to their arrival. Not only did they change the arrival time, they didn't even bother to show up on the time that they changed. Apparently your time has no meaning to these guys.

(I stated most all of this above.) I can't say enough about how pleased I was with the professionalism, the work and the time it took for him to take care of the problem.
Description of Work: My kitchen sink stopped up. i didn't know who to call. I checked with Angie's list and after reading many positive reviews I decided to call them. I was so pleased they were able to come out within an hour. The young man (Joel) was very professional. He knew immediately what to do. After putting protective covering on the floor he brought in all the materials he needed and went to work. He finished within a very reasonable time, cleaned everything up and explained the charges clearly. I would definitely call Mr.Rooter the next time I need unexpected plumbing repairs again.

until now. I told him to snake it and fix the hot water. So he spent 20 minutes looking through a huge binder of prices trying to write up an estimate. When he was finished, all I had was a write up for the snaking. I said well, what about the faucet? Oh, well, couldn't fix that and would need to get to a supplier for the part. I let him snake out the drain which cleared in less than one minute. Hot water is still broke and I will have to call a professional this time. And by the way, the phone dispatcher said she would have him take off the 20$ Angie's list coupon since I told her I found them here. Didn't happen!
Description of Work: Ugh, don't know why there are so many A's for this one. Called in the morning because hot water was leaking from faucet in tub and drain was barely working. Operator said they could be there between 12 and 2, great! Kid shows up at 1:00 and seemed to be able to barely communicate. In fairness, he seemed very nice, even told me he still lived with mom at age 29. He took a look and proceeded to tell me since I had old pipes he recommended I have them rip up my ceiling to get replace the tub drain pipe. Barely a mention of the leaking hot water. but then again he had such a hard time speaking I couldn't really tell. I said well, yeah, we aren't doing that today. So he said I can try to snake it, but it would just keep happening. Of course, I never had a drainage problem

The project went terribly. I had another guy adding in a well on my property, and he and I both agreed that Mr. Rooter did absolutely nothing to clean my septic tank. We discovered that the pipes that were bad, something that Mr. Rooter would have noticed that and told me about it. This guy Duncan wants the rest of the $250 for a job that he did not complete. I am not willing to pay him for a job that he didn't do.

Response from Mr Rooter Plumbing of Greater Syracuse
On May 22, 2012 we went out and provided Member a no cost written estimate to locate uncover and pump his 1000 gallon septic tank and Hydro scrub the inlet and outlet of the septic tank. Member agreed to the price and asked us to return to complete the work at that time Member gave Duncan a deposit for the Job as he did not live in the area and was in the process of moving. On May 25, 2012 Our technician returned and located the tank by uncovering 15ft of pipe leading to where the tank was located. We pumped the septic tank down at that time we also repaired a 4” 90 on the inlet of the septic pipe. We also cleaned the inlet and outlet of the septic tank. We feel Member has been given incorrect information. There is no house currently on the property and unable to perform the correct testing and had informed Member that once the home was on the property we would return at no charge to test the line. Member was not at the property when we returned to perform the scope of work when we called Member to let him know we where on our way he advised us to just go and take care of the work and he would pay the remaining balance via credit card over the phone. We have tried to contact Member and he has been ignoring our phone calls. It is not our business practice to take our customers for granted and we value our customers and stand 100% behind the work that we perform if our customer is not satisfied we will go above and beyond to make our customer's life long Mr. Rooter customer's.

He was a really nice guy. He was young but he knew what he was doing. He was very polite. I felt comfortable having him in my house. I don't know how much anyone else would charge for this so I can't grade him on cost. He did give me a $25 certificate for the next time.
Description of Work: I just used Mr. Rooter last weekend. My water heater broke. I called them on a Sunday afternoon and they were there in an hour and a half. They diagnosed my problem. He talked to me about different water heaters that were available. He favored a water heater that was a specialty water heater that he could get the next day. I appreciated that and decided to go without hot water overnight. He came the next day and did a beautiful job. He also checked some other plumbing issues that I had. I didn’t know he was doing that, he just did it. He just advised me on it, he didn’t pressure me into getting it done. It was a flat rate and didn’t charge me extra for coming out on a Sunday and coming back the next day.

It went wonderfully. I was happy with the service, the technician, the price and the timeliness.
Description of Work: I called to have them unclog the kitchen sink which required taking the drain apart and snaking to the ends of the earth - what a project. I loved the flat fee so I knew upfront what I would be paying. Joel the technician was wonderful, helpful, pleasant, courteous and professional. He gave me a few suggestions for keeping the drains clear. It was a very positive experience.

When the service person arrived he tossed a red mat with the company logo over my welcome mat. He threw back my screen door and attempted to haul his equipment inside before it closed. The door crashed against the equipment twice before I persuaded him to stop so I could prop open the door for him. When I suggested that he put a mat over the floor of my vanity to protect it he said that it was just a cheapy from Lowes and paid no mind to my reasonable request. After 2 1/2 hours of extremely loud noise from the equipment with no result, he then tried going up the stack which worked. While he headed out I had to dive ahead of him to throw my carpet back out of his way. He trailed a slurry of muddy water from the bathroom, through the front room, and out the door. When I called to complain about a problem with the faucet he had manipulated, I heard the customer service person quickly ask him, "Did you..." and he remonstrated like a child telling his mother he didn't do it. As far as she was concerned that settled it. At least the drain worked.
Description of Work: I called them to clear the bathroom sink drain after trying plunging and drain cleaner. The clog turned out to be up in the stack rather than the drain.

They called & came earlier than the first scheduled appt time. They looked over the situation and determined it was best to replace the pump. They gave me 3 choices and when asked their recommendation on which one they would choose for their own home, they didn't choose the most expensive unit. They discouraged me from wasting my money on an additional item I inquired about. They even had the Angie's List coupon already printed out. I was able to handle the whole transaction over the phone as I had someone to let them in the house. I was impressed with their honesty and the speed in which they got out to my house & replaced the sump pump. I would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: he checked my garage drain because we thought it was plugged but it was not, the drain cover was the problem. The plumber said that there was no charge because he didnt have to use the router. But he spent time checking out the system and he had to drive over from SYR to AUBURN. I have used them for two years. They charge me depending on the service. I have paid $300 for normal plumbing issues, like clearing the drain; etc. They are quick to come out. However, if it is a large job, they normally charge twice as much as the other plumbers. So, they are very expensive. I do not think I will use them again in the future.

He did a very nice job and he did everything that I wanted him to do. He came right away, he was very nice, and he figured out that the problem was out in the yard. He explained how he did it all and he told me that he thought it would work for at least awhile but I haven’t had a problem since. I have only had experience with local plumbers and I think his price was very good compared to them.

They had a year’s guarantee on their work, but that just ran out and I am now past the window. They charged me $985 since it was a very involved plumbing job and not a simple problem. There was another plumber who came out to my house and told me that these guys weren’t even plumbers and shouldn’t have done that kind of work. They had a nice advertisement and they came in a very nice truck with the logo on it as well. I thought Mr. Rooter Plumbing was a professional outfit and they were, but they weren’t actually plumbers. They don’t actually have a plumbing certification. I explained the problem to Mr. Rooter Plumbing. I knew that it was going to be a big expensive thing and I had about $800 in my mind. So, I wasn’t mad when they told me that it would cost $985. Their pricing was fair. They had a notebook with everything that you could do. They could check it out and do it. It looked like they were a professional organization. They are using a similar name of a franchise. They came with all their equipment. They cut holes in my ceiling between two levels in my house. So, it was a really huge thing and I thought that most plumbers wouldn’t be able to do it. They got it done and so far it has been good. They did do a good job, but it wasn’t cheap. Their work is still intact and it has been over a year. They did know what they were doing even though they weren’t plumbers. They just didn’t have a plumbing certification and the other plumbers in the area don’t like that. However, they did the service that they came to do and they did it well. They showed up in a large truck with all kinds of plumbing equipment on it. I think they had about $50000 to $80000 worth of equipment on their truck. I thought the price was high, but I had an emergency. They came out the same day I called them. Whereas the others said that they would come out in 2 or 3 days. I would probably not use their services again and I am going to use a master plumber for any other plumbing problem. I am going to use someone who is actually a plumber. I don’t know if Mr. Rooter Plumbing would have stood behind the guarantee if something bad would have happened.
Description of Work: I used the services of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Greater Syracuse on May 1st of last year to fix a plumbing problem. There was another company that did a bad bathroom remodeling job. So, there was a leak which caused a problem between my bathroom, ceiling and the room below. So, Mr. Rooter Plumbing had to cut out through the ceiling, get to the plumbing and the floor joists. They had to redo everything and re-seal everything. It also involved some sheetrock work which wasn’t very good. There was water slowing seeping through the ceiling and the flooring was destroyed. Then they had to go between the floor of one level and the ceiling of the bottom. They came to my house and ripped it all apart. They tore up between 2 levels to fix the problem.

The job ended up being more extensive than anticipated. I appreciated that they started with the most simple, and least expensive, solution first. That did not end up being the the final solution, so from there they were able to return the next day, and because it was a "call back", a sight supervisor visited just to check in on the project and make sure that everything was being handled appropriately. They were always good to show me the damaged parts of the toilet and plumbing and provide explanations as to what needed to be done, and if I chose not to go with their suggestions, they gave estimates on how long the current equipment would hold up and what might occur when it finally did give out. They offer a great membership program for a reasonable fee that offers discounted pricing on all following jobs with them, as well as their associates; such as Mr Electric and Mr Appliance. I was also very impressed with the clean up job that they did at the end of their work. I had previously had a very negative experience with another plumbing company in which there was dust and crud left all over my bathroom and shower, as well as my bedroom where part of my wall had to be torn out to access the pipes. Mr Plumber picked up all remaining rubbish, swept up all debris, and wiped all surface areas and the surrounding floor with wet rags. Also, given the snowy weather, they brought their own foot mat, and after carefully wiping their feet they wore shoe covers through out the job and created minimal tracking mess on the floor.
Description of Work: My toilet was leaking water into the floor boards and the flange ended up having to be changed. Initially they tried simply changing the gasket and placing a wax seal, but that did not ultimately solve the problem, and in the end the entire flange and part of the floor surrounding the toilet had to be replaced due to water damage.

My sump pump died during the night and my basement was flooded. I called Mr Rooter, they were very nice to deal with, she rushed 2 guys out. They were pleasant and extremely knowledgable. They replaced the pump, did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. They noticed some work that a shoddy contractor had just done that was illegal and against code. I'm grateful to them for pointing this out.

The kid was young. I really don't think he had much experience. The first attempt at creating a new water line for the ice maker was unsuccessful. The price was RIDICULOUSLY HIGH. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ***UPDATED*** : 2/17/2011. I received a letter on Jan. 8, 2011 dated January 6, 2011 from Kathleen St. Croix, the office manager of Mr. Rooter Plumbing. asking me what they could do to turn my negative experience into a positive one. I held on to the letter for a few weeks trying to think of what would make things better. The only thought I had was a refund of some sort. I called Kathleen St. Croix and told her I had received her letter, and that a refund of some kind was my only thought. Ms. St. Croix was friendly, receptive and she agreed. I received a check from Mr. Rooter for $125.00 and two $25.00 gift certificates toward future services.
Description of Work: We bought a new refrigerator on 9/18/2010. We called Cooney Heating and Air thinking they could help install a thin copper water line for the "ice maker" function on our new refrigerator. Cooney referred us to Mr. Rooter, and told us to tell Rooter that "Cooney recommended us". So, we called Mr. Rooter and told them "Cooney Heating and Air" recommended we use them". Mr. Rooter came over, and gave us an estimate on the job. I thought it was HIGH, but I wasn't exactly sure what was entailed. So, I went with it. The Plumber went into my basement, literally tapped into an existing line, drilled a hole in the floor and pulled up the thin copper piping. When he went to turn the water on, the new line he JUST installed shot water all over our floor. When he went to "fix" what he had JUST done, he damaged the connector, and had to get a new one. The plumber then left my house, and headed for the nearest Home Depot. When he came back, he left the Home Depot receipt on my counter (he spent $34 and change) and he left the rest of the "kit" for us, and the instructions on the back of the package was exactly what he did. I then had to pay him $307.00!! I FELT ROBBED
