If you look at the Better Business Bureau?s website it lists this JD Super Haulers as ?J D Haulers Express, Inc.? with the Principal of Jeffrey David Schaeffer. The associated address with the BBB is 113 N. Main Street, Syracuse, NY 13212. Please note, there are, what appear to be, two Angieslist listing for this company. The first Angieslist profile suggests J D Super Haulers at 113 N. Main Street, NY 13212. The listed phone number is 315-445-0201. This was the phone we used for initial contact. No principal/owner is listed on this profile. The second Angieslist profile lists a JD Super Haulers at 409 Spring Street, Syracuse, NY. The listed phone number is 315-203-1615. The principal/owner listed for this is the same as the one recorded with the BBB. Therefore, this review is being posted for both entities as they, ostensibly, have the same principal, the same owner and same mission. As they are listed with different phone numbers and addresses, you should consider this as red flag number 1. This review is being done on behalf of a relative of mine who was handling some of the cleanup work on a property rehabilitation project that I am running. JD Super Haulers was unfortunately hired to handle the cleanout of yard debris, some basement space and attic space. The sum total of material to be disposed of would have fit within a standard 30yd dumpster; perhaps, only occupying 20yds. I was introduced to an individual who identified himself as ?JD?. At this point, a contract had unfortunately been signed and a deposit paid. The sum total was approximately $3200 with tax included. On the invoice, you will not see any addresses but rather at litany of phone numbers. JD is a fast talker who employs high pressure sales tactics and pushes for snap decisions. His pricing scheme is wishy-washy at best and insists on cash up front. Further, he will relegate himself to making disparaging remarks about your property in order to up the scale of the work. We are talking about whole-sale unprofessionalism. He opted to refer to some decking and a trellis on the property as ?stupid? and suggested that ?no one uses these anymore.? Further, he opts for straight-out lies. I had several pieces of furniture slated to go to Catholic Charities. JD suggested that Catholic Charities would not take them as they only accept ?like new? furnishings. I knew, first hand, that statement was not true. Catholic Charities did indeed take said furnishings. That particular statement was relayed to me over the phone and was what prompted my visit to the property. A read-between-the-lines would suggest that statement was made purely to expand the scope of work and grow the already over inflated costs. On the flip-side, the crew was diligent, hard working and respectful. All the red flags are there: fast talking, high pressure, insistence on cash, unprofessional behavior and lies. Allow me to obviate a cost effect alternative. Rent yourself a 30yr dumpster ? it?s a very easy endeavor. You can pay workers from a general contractor - or even college kids looking to make a buck - all at a far cheaper rate to fill it up. Let?s do the math. This job cost ~$3200. Let?s subtract $200 for taxes and $600 to represent a dumpster and disposal fees (if you rent your own dumpster, expect this as the upper end of what you should pay). If I assess, liberally, that a total of 24 man hours were applied to this job ? this puts us at an effective hourly rate of $100/hour. This is a patent outrage and a rip-off. If you really must consider this outfit, ask for an itemized task list and an hour-based estimate. Do the math on your feet and see if it matches the advertised hourly rate on the side of his truck. I believe it suggests ?starting at rates as low as $49/hour.? Perhaps I missed the fine print that said ?times 2.? In short ? avoid at all costs.
Description of Work: Cleared out yard debris, base materials and attic contents.

I initially called for a quote thinking he would come beforehand, but he said he would quote the day I wanted the trash removed (Saturday). He initially quoted $1250 and I said no, but he persisted until I finally said ok at $695. (I have no idea if I overpaid but I wanted the trash removed that day). He called his crew who showed up in a U Haul van. They worked very quickly removing items and filled the van to capacity. Because of heavy rain the previous day, the van which was parked on the grass outside my basement door, became stuck and trying to move it resulted in deep ruts in the lawn. They left the van and said they'd come back in a day or two when it dried up and they could move it. Sunday morning they returned with a 4 wheel drive vehicle and pulled it out using a chain. They raked the ruts but they are deep enough that they will need to be filled. Monday they returned to retrieve the items that would not fit in the van and the refrigerator (they brought another man and vehicle for that). I was surprised that they had no dolly to move the fridge, and they dragged it up my basement stairs and across my lawn to the truck (leaving more marks on the lawn). They were exrremely unprofessional. There was a lot of complaining and foul language.
Description of Work: Removed items from basement (some old furniture and larger pieces, including an old refrigerator, many trash bags containing discarded items)
