+ -1 moreJust superb! Cooney is not the least expensive out there, but they provide the best value. They work every detail, get everything right no matter what it takes, won't accept what most other installers will. Of course clean, neat, clean up, don't mar anything, etc. All good people.
Description of Work: Two complete furnace and a/c systems replaced with highest level Carrier Infinity product. Duct work redone in places, new ducts installed where needed, old ducts insulated in garage--complete replace and update. Installation took 14 man-days.

+ -1 moreThis was a complicated project and they handled it with aplomb. The installers knew their trade and were very professional. They took care to not damage surrounding floors and walls, and they kept the work area clean and neat. They arrived when they promised and put in full days. They asked questions when appropriate to make sure everything was as I wanted it to be. The company rep stopped in several times to see how things were going and to answer any questions. I was very pleased with the work and would not hesitate to recommend Cooney to others who need HVAC services.
Description of Work: They redesigned my heating system to meet my requirements and gave me a detailed estimate and answered all my questions. The company rep fully described the available systems, and didn't "push" the more expensive ones. When the time for installation came, they removed my old 1965-vintage furnace & portions of the existing ductwork that could not be reused by the new system and also removed my 13-year-old hot water heater. They installed new ductwork, the new furnace, added a heat/pump air conditioning system, and installed a new high-efficiency water heater. They used protective floor coverings and cleaned up after themselves every evening before leaving. They also handled the disposal of all the old materials. When they were finished they briefed me on the new controls and the operational differences between the new system and the old.

+ -1 moreWe called Cooney Heating and Air on OCT 11, 2012. It was the start of the first cold spell here in the North Country. I explained our oil fired boiler was leaking and needed someone to come fix it. The dispatch was friendly and frank. He informed us it would be an extra $80 to travel out to us. We acknowledged and understood the additional cost and scheduled an appointment for OCT 16. One hour before the appointment time (approx. 3:00pm) the office called us and rescheduled for OCT 18 due to emergency calls. We canceled our appointment and called another company.

Description of Work: The two employees showed up on time and did an excellent job. Installed an new air conditioning system, which included the outdoor unit and updating the required unit on the furnace. It works perfectly with no problems. They were experts at putting in the air conditioning system, and never required any help from additional staff.

+ -1 moreEverything it said in the review's was true, Very professional, neat, and careful of our Home. carpet's rolled out in every area they were going to be walking, and alway's wore and quot;Bootie'sand quot; When done every area inside, and out was left the way it was found, No debris on the lawn , or basement anywhere. Very friendly, and informative. The price was right online with other local company's. However I was glad we decided to go with this one.
Description of Work: Full replacement of central Air conditioning unit. which was 21 yrs. old . a new drain had to be installed with a pump to our water drain to the outside. and the rest was basically update's.

+ -1 moreI have to say that right from the start they were very professional and came to our home within two days of calling their offices for an estimate. Upon arrival the representative was profesional, courteous and well prepared. He had several brochures explaining his firms history and services they provide as well as the products they use. He walked through the house while measuring room dimensions, widow placements, vents etc. In the basement he measured the space, looked at the circuit breakers and followed the duct work into the walls. He promised to have a quote to me in the next two - three days. As promised he called me within two days and delivered the quote to my home and took me through the quote line by line.He did say that they were not the cheapest but felt their quality made up for the difference. We had two other quotes for this job and went with another contractor. The main reason is that Cooney wanted to replace all the duct work in the basement with new, while the others said ours was in very good shape. I believe Cooney's cost were higher due to this fact. Overall, I'm sure they would have done an excellent job.
Description of Work: I solicited Cooney in order to receive a quote on replacing our gas furnace, air conditioner and hot water heater.

+ -1 moreThe cost of the diagnosis was credited to the cost of any work. They provided various options from low cost to full state of the art system. They were not pushy at all, just wanted us to know all the options and were very helpful! They completed a full Manual J heat load calculation during the estimate to ensure they provided us with the proper sized AC system. They arrived with many hands to complete the job quickly and professionally. We will definitely you them again for any future HVAC work / preventative maintenance. Description of Work: I had them come out to fix my furnace, which was over 20 years old! Very nice and professional the whole time. I had them come out again to give me an estimate on a new furnace and they sent Jeff! He was fantastic! Gave me all the information I needed to make a decision on weather or not to replace my old furnace. Well I decided I would get a new one, and they took off the money that I spent when I had them come fix my old one. This all took place with in a few weeks. When they came to replace my old one, they were well dressed, clean and very professional! My new furnace is great! Very efficient and has saved me some money already! Thank you COONEY!!!

+ -1 moreIt was perfect from start to finish in time cost and professionalism. I will never use anyone else again (others have charged double and tracked dirt, overcharged and was terrible. Chad suggested I have the AC unit checked for the summer to make sure that was working as it has not had any maintenance in 3 years. I feel very confident and trust this company. I called an asked for the owner and he answered my call. How often do you get to talk to the owner directly? Now that IS customer service.
Description of Work: I called Cooney on Monday and I was scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 AM as requested. They charge from leaving the shop or last job and are very precise so you know exactly how much time you are being billed for. I liked that because the estimate was right on. Chad was so polite, clean professional and efficient. I had not had any service for 3 years. Chad showed me how and where the filters went as my system was clogged up pretty bad. Everything was checked, cleaned and all parts were listed clearly. From the scheduling to the last detail (Chad even turned the cellar lights off and checked everything to make sure the thermostat was working properly.

+ -1 moreHe was not suppose to come until the following Monday or Tuesday-first times he could fix us in. Our contractor talked to their representative and they came on Friday-TWO DAYS EARLIER. This allowed us to have the bathroom finished before Thanksgiving. Our contractor dealt with them after my initial call. He said based on what he say, he would, with hesitation use them again. I agree 100%.
Description of Work: Re worked our heating in our bathroom. Also, installed a toe-kick heater.

Description of Work: Originally I contacted Cooney air-conditioning and heating for a quote on a tankless water heater. When Jeff Van Buren came out, he put together a quote for a tankless water heater and, as I asked him, put together a quote to replace our 20 year old furnace and air conditioning system. He kept in contact by e-mail and phone while he was preparing the quote. We received the quote within a very few days and it was clear, straightforward, and helpful in making our decision. We decided to install the furnace and air conditioning system and hold off on the tankless water heater installation. We will, however, go back to Cooney for the tankess water heater in the future. The furnace and airconditioning system was installed on November 3rd and 4th. The Cooney workmen were on time, were very careful and neat, and never failed to inform us of what they were doing and on the progress of the installation. When the installation was finished, they did the settings and then provided instruction on how to operate our new system. We have used a number of contractors and professional services firms, but Cooney is the best we have used in 21 years in our home! We recommend them to you without reservation. DO CALL THEM FOR A QUOTE.

They gave good information when they came to give an estimate. They had a high rating on Angie's List. I had several things done, so I don't remember how much I spent for the job. The price was a little higher than I could probably have got at some other place but I truly believe that I got a fair value for the price. Their quality was excellent and their punctuality was good. I would absolutely use them again in the future if necessary.

+ -1 moreWe called and they told us they would come in 5 days, or we could ask for a higher priced emergency visit. The weather was in the 50s and we thought we could tolerate turning on the furnace for a bit and then keeping it off. We decided the next day just to pay the extra $30/hr and when we called, the receptionist told us they'd arrive after 5pm that day. A little while later she called back to say she found a free tech and she would send him over at the regular rate. He arrived shortly after and fixed our thermostat wire in less than an hour. Wonderful service all around.
Description of Work: Our furnace was blasting away even when thermostat was off. Connection at thermostat wire was bad. Checked furnace for proper operation as well.

+ -1 moreFrom first call to the end, dealing with Ron Stevens, Jr. (the Systems Specialist at Cooney's) and the other very talented men, we felt confident that they had the knowledge and skill to do the job. We have experienced many reactions of (uh, we've never seen one like this before) in the past from various repair folks in this old house. That was not the case here. They had seen this type of boiler before and could replace it, although it would be a big job. Everyone who came was pleasant and professional. Rugs were put down and clean-up carried out as promised. We will use Cooney's to keep tabs on our new boiler in the future. We are without reservation in recommending them.
Description of Work: We live in a house built in 1827. When things break, it never is an "easy" fix or cheap to repair. We heat with an oli-fired boiler to produce steam in our venerable radiators. We contacted Cooney's based on the good recommendations found on Angie's list. Removing the old boiler and replacing with a new one and all the associated plumbing, etc was a very large job (3 full days plus) . But on 11/4/11 we have lovely, dependable heat!
