I had three back and forth response through the BBB of New York and their replies. They lied to the BBB saying they offered to come out and change the batteries, but I refused the cost of a service call...(not true at all) and I had signed a contract. BBB said that I would need to take them to small claims court or hire a lawyer to stop the monthly billing coming out of my charge account. Yes ---I plan on pursuing this further so I will go to a lawyer and pay what it takes to get them to STOP stealing my money for a service they have not provided since Jan. 2013. The amount is under the $500. 00 amount small claims court would hear a grievance about. They are located in a different state so Texas would not hear the case. Hmm I signed a contract and with that they have a right to A). not provide servicing yet lie about it; and B). continue to pay even past when my contract should end in March??? VERY AGGRAVATED Customer and completely FFFFFFF rating from me. Please do not sign a contract with these thieves.
Description of Work: I paid this service from 2007 when I moved into a new home and this was the securities company Pulte builders suggested on a sticker on the alarm. Every month I continued to pay this company. In September 2012 my alarm's battery (large one in the main system) started beeping. When I called the security to come and bring the proper sized battery, they told me they would not come out to change batteries. They would only come out if the system was in need of a repair and they did not cover batteries. The homeowner was "responsible" for those. I moved out of that home in Jan 2013. Much to my surprise when I called them to turn off my auto pay as I no longer lived at that residence, they said "Oh....you are on a contract that continually renews"."You are responsible to continue paying until you send us a letter stating you want to stop the auto renewal and your date even though it started in March of 2007 you own until September 2013 because you contacted us in Sept. last so contract goes to Sept 2013. I do not live at the house anymore. The new owners did not sign a contract with Castle Rock Securities. I have reported them to the BBB of New York and their response was she signed a contract. My response is yes back in March of 2007 I signed a contract... When I went to fax all of my "evidence" to the better business bureau the owner of the Parcel Post Store on Park Rd Plano, TX said he had to do the same thing when his parents moved out of the Pulte neighborhood that I lived in. He had to get a lawyer involved to stop their continual renewal non cancellation policy.

Fine until we sold our house and tried to discontinue. Check the national databases on this company - they are full of similar complaints. There is supposedly a class action suit happening in Cook County.
Description of Work: At our previous home we had an alarm system we bought through Apex Security. They were purchased by Castle Rock security. We were customers for 4 years + when we sold our home and move. We no longer have the alarm system or the home the system is in. We tried repeatedly to cancel our contract beginning December of 2011 and were told we could not. According to our contract the original term was 3 year from 5/9/07, and any changes to be made to the contract would need to be in writing and signed by both parties, however, they are saying we told them verbally we'd commit to a longer contract. In the end, we no longer have the home, no longer have the system and have not for 4 months. We canceled the account that the monitoring bill was set up to bill, and now they are pursuing us for collection of a debt. Castle Rock believes we should pay $39/month until 2014 for a system in a home that we no longer own. How can a company force you to stay in a contract against your contract rules and WHEN YOU NO LONGER OWN THE HOME? That's terrible customer service to say the least! They will never again have us for a customer, and we make sure to tell everyone who will listen to STAY AWAY. Go to ADT! They are no more expensive. We do not know what do to at this point.

We have been using them for the past 5 months; the customer service has always been really friendly. In comparison, I don't think they are more expensive, and we have never had an incident where any one had tried to break into our home, or we have never had a fire, to put them to the test of how good their service was or how reliable they are.

Castle Rock Security was the monitoring company for our alarm system. We had this system installed as a result of a salesman who came to door to door in our neighborhood. The original dealer was Pinnacle. This has been the worst experience with any security company that I have ever had. In the course of the 3 years that they were subjected to paying the monthly fee of $50 for our "monitoring" service, our alarm went off many times and Castlerock NEVER called. Additionally, customer service is nearly impossible to get ahold of, and even if you do you are passed from one person to another until you finally get so discouraged you give up. BEWARE of this Company!! Run as fast as you can! Their contracts are for a three-years and provide for an extensive notice, nearly 3 months in advance. If you do not provide this notice in writing, you will continue to be obligated to pay the monthly fee. It does not matter if you move, sell your home, or it burns to the ground. There is a website completely devoted to the experiences of unhappy customers. www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/castle-rock-security Our contract with them is up this month. I have given my 3 month's notice in writing. I sincerely hope that the service will be canceled and they will not continue to hound me for my business, which they have been doing since I sent the letter of cancellation. If anyone has ever had a positive experience with his company, I would like to hear it.

I ordered the alram system expecting it would keep my home and premises safe. They sent a couple of incompetent guys out who promptly set up the alarm system-a unit on the front door, a unit on the back door; drilled up from the basement so they could attach it to the phone system. When I woke up the following morning, the sensor unit was lying on the floor (whatever glue they used sucked); I assumed it is the responsibility of the "selling company" to provide what they had advertised...a working alarm system. They said basically "too bad" when I complained but they would fix it if I would pay them a $100 and I said why should?pay you for it is your responsibility to give me what I am paying for. So nothing was done. Next I went to the Ohio Attorney General who was as stupid as the alarm company--for they sided with the alarm company and told me to pay them for 3 years for a non-working system. They told me the company had offered to fix their incompetent work if I would give them $100. I told the company I would fix it for $100 myself if they would send me a?check in that amount and they said, "no they would not pay me a $100. (I have seen many complaints on Alarm companies on the internet including this one for locking customers in for a period of 3 years, and then they try to extend it another 3 years if a person does not inform them they want to quit within a given period of time. There are ads going right now which show house break-ins to scare people into renting alarm systems. I just wish there were some honest alarm system companies around but I would never do it again-get a DOG. Even Consumer 10-A-Gram was shocked that that the Attorney General would go along with these rats, but they are Democrats and don't care about people. I got a call yesterday on my answering machine from the Chicago office offering me some kind of incentive to "sign up again" as if I would - their monitoring is so good they never noticed that the system has never been turned on in 3 years (except for one day when my wife was carrying a toddler by it-accident); but I did call using their 800 number just to see if this was the Chicago office that services me and they said "Yes, they do it nationally." They said they were recording the call. (I did not mention that I was having any trouble only that are you my servicing office which they affirmed. (I am convinced these alarm companies are all sleazy watching the scary commercials they put on TV every night to scare women,) ?
Description of Work: They put in a faulty alarm system which fell apart the following day back in 2007; they would not return to fix it; consequently, the alarm system has never worked and I never used it.
