Mr. Hillebrand was prompt, worked within his estimated time frame, and brought the job in below the estimate. It was an extensive excavation. Mr. Hillebrand did not hire out to a bunch of subcontractors. With the exception of the stone mason and the backhoe operator, he and his assistant did the work themselves. In other words, he was onsite a great deal. I did not have to supervise different workers showing up everyday like so many contractors leave you to do. He did not ask for a huge percentage of money upfront. He wrote out and priced out a detailed list of every task that needed to be accomplished to complete the job and only asked to be paid as he completed the tasks listed. We walked through the inside of the house to check for any cracks that might have formed as a result of the work. He was prepared to fix these as well. Fortunately the inside shifting was very minor. He did a wonderful job. He wasn't shuffling a bunch of other work with my job. In other words, he was the complete exception to every other contractor you've ever experienced I know I'm writing this two years late. That's on me and the major shifts in my personal life. But I can tell you, I'm still in shock over the incredible kindness and professionalism I experienced with Mr. Hillebrand. I've had so many bad experiences with contractors and he is the exception to them all. His pricing seemed very fair.
