STAY CLEAR OF ALL AMERICAN MASONRY! Initially, it looked great and then it went all downhill. Tim is a horrendous businessman who blames everyone else for what fails on his job, does not honor his one-year guarantee, and then tries to make you out to be the bad guy. Not only will he not repair what is cracking in less than 6 months, but he also has the audacity to call us ungrateful and horrible people because we are not happy with his work. Am I supposed to be grateful and satisfied with cracking, newly poured $6440 worth of cement? Even though his bill says he guarantees his work for one year, he told us to lose his number and that he won't repair anything unless we pay him.

AWFUL! Its chipping and scaling. It was done only 18 months ago. We called and explained to the owner what was going on and he did come over to reinspect. He said he could redo the job at no cost to HIM! He said he doesn't work for free! It's his error for mixing the concrete on site incorrectly. I should not have to pay for his mistake. The owner has a very poor attitude and is very arrogant.

After my old walkway was removed Tim McMonegal (owner) told me he was going to backfill with 2 inches of stone aggregate which he said would amount to about 1 yard of aggregate. I mentioned to him the industry standard ( per Unilock, Nicolock, Cambridge, etc) for pavers in clay soil was 6 inches of aggregate which would amount to 3 yards in my case. He told me I was crazy and that noone installs 6 inches. I told him I disagreed and that I wanted him to install 5-6 inches to do the installation the right way. I told him I would pay the added cost. He said OK and his workers proceeded with the job. On the last day of work, things went badly. He told me he wanted me to pay him an extra $800 for labor and also extra for the cost of 4 1/2 to 5 yards of aggregate. My response was "you must be kidding me, there was no way you could have used that much aggregate for the size and depth of the walkway". He then yelled "you mean you are not going to pay me? Do you think I work for nothing" ? I said "you are not being honest with me about what you did". He told me to call the Rockland Masonry depot to find out how much aggregate he used. He then yelled to me that " he ought to rip every paver out". I then went into my house (his behavior was alarming to me- I'm 74 years old)) and I then called the Rockland Masonry depot. The sales person told me McMonegal had bought 3 yards for my job. I then went outside and told him what they told me - he used 3 yards not 4 1/2 to 5 as he claimed. He said "they were wrong and that I don't know what I'm talking about and that I am being picky". I told him I was upset with him and we would have to work something out on the additional money he wanted from me. He then left while his workers were finishing up on the job. He returned later and I told him I would offer to pay him an additional $500 for the extra aggregate that was actually used. He replied that he only wanted $400 more from me (he went from about $900+ down to $400 within an hour ). I said " I am paying you $500 more because I just want you to leave my property. " I wrote the check and asked him to sign a document (he did sign) I had prepared that stated he was paid $4600 (4100 per original oral estimate plus 500 extra) and that there was to be no further contact between us. He left and his workers remained another 2 hours to finish the job. Mr. McMonegal was dishonest with me, his behavior was belligerent and threatening and he does not follow industry standards as recommended by manufacturers of the products he uses for paver installations. It's a very sad ending because, in the end, his workers produced an excellent job overall. I was very satisfied with the results from his workers and I know the job was eventually done correctly due to the proper amount of aggregate. I am taking the time to write this review to alert others that If anyone wants to use his services, I recommend they get a detailed contract from him before the work starts and, if anything changes along the way, to get an estimate of additional costs before you let him proceed with the work. I did not ask for any of the above items because of his membership with Angie's list and also Home advisor. I thought I could trust him to be fair with me because of his membership in those agencies. Unfortunately I was wrong.

Rob Brancaccio the owner after a couple of negotiated discussions agreed to $7500,after the job was in progress his worker called and said tiles had to be removed from the heating flue,an additional $2,000 then because I recently used him on another house I own it would be $1500'and finally $1300 .This was a non event the tiles came off easy and were no more than another 20 minutes.I have anothe house in Verona, both flues there weren$4700 and less time than the house in Fairfield. Always beware of people that increase prices after they begin the job, would not recommend him.

--stamped concrete, Took 3 times - done all 3 times before it rained - failed 3 times. Owner would not accept that the rain would damage the wet 'pink' substance the workers put down. chunks of concrete all broken off laying in garden now . He did NO work on the property at all. Absent. Front entrance looks worse than before. --Workers pointed brick wall, then power washed it all out. ???? Owner says well they don't know how to do it. Did we not hire a Mason???? -Workers filled walkway with sand and border, all coming apart months later. a mess. They also left the water running for 2 weeks. Thank God it wasn't full force or it would have flooded the basement. The worst of it was when and quot;the workersand quot; not the owner, wanted the cash payment and were told no, I will give it to Tim, the owner because he never asked me to give it to you. They retaliated by taking a 5 gallon BIG metal can (I guess from the sealer) and buried it in the leaves AND snow that were on the end of our lawn. (Winter came early) Had we not happen to see them do it before they sped off laughing there could have been a disaster. The next morning the town of clarkstown came with a big truck and forklift and they were scooping and tossing the leaves (and snow) into a big dumpster behind the truck. Had that big Can been in there, it would have been airborne and really could have caused some damage. Could have injured one of the town guys. They also threw there drink bottles into the bushes right near our front door. That same day. After the can thing - you start to become a little leery of these people and what else they may do if they don't like what you say. The owner should have stepped up big time but he didn't. The whole experience was really upsetting and a giant waste of money.
Description of Work: Took advantage. The "Provider" did not do the work . His hired hands did.

Tim was very knowledgeable and informative about what my specialty deck work entailed. There are not many contractors who know how to work with architecturally stamped concrete and we had a terrible experience with a local New Jersey company in the past and we needed to find someone who knew how to treat and care for our patio. Tim came to see the patio in Fall 2013 and said to call him when it was Spring 2014 and it would be a two day job. Tim came in May 2014 with his crew. He and his crew powerwashed my patio and stained the concrete. I was home but had to run out for a few errands. When I came back an hour later, the crew had added a color that we had not discussed and that I did not like. I contacted Tim, who promptly had his crew powerwash the color off and start the project over. He apologized for the misunderstanding. The deck had to dry so the crew left and came back the next day. Tim came back again with the crew and they redid the patio and it came out fabulous. All people make mistakes but it's how they handle the mistakes that differentiate a fantastic vendor from a unprofessional vendor. Tim proved to me that he could truly be a partner in my home maintenace and I plan on using him for all my ongoing deck and concrete needs. He was extremely professional, honest and a pleasure to work with.

Tim supervised the crew every day. They were punctual, pleasant, clean and meticulous in their attention to detail. We could not ask for a better experience. The bluestones were perfectly arranged in a pleasant rectangular pattern. The price was more than fair based upon other estimates we received.
Description of Work: About 1/3 of a two car garage floor was removed and replaced with new concrete plus a collapsing front entry set of steps and small platform was removed and replaced with two larger platforms of concrete. Both platforms and steps were covered in bluestone.
