+ -1 moreit took a few days to have him return the calls due to the time of year we were trying to get the driveway done. It would be wise to plan ahead before he is in the prime of summer ( the fall or spring before driveway is needed). Once Gene schedules your job, he will be there unless The weather isn't cooperative. When he gets to your job the workman ship is amazing , and he takes his time to make sure you are satisfied with the job. His workers are also professional and very curteous.

+ -1 moreGene came and checked over the job I wanted done. Afterwards it was a game of tag. I called his office numerous times without a return call. Then when I realized I had his cell phone number I called it and he gave me a promise to stop by a few days later. When he didnt show I again called and got more BS. This went on for a month before I had enough and called Humphreyville. Mind you that I spent the whole summer prior to last trying to even get Gene to my house for a estimate. Sad thing is Gene had made promises to my grandmother and my boss last year to complete their driveways. Neither of them ever saw him. When push comes to shove when he gets a bigger job than yours he doesnt care about the "pocket change" he will make from a residential driveway. If you want my advice use Humphreyville. He came that night, was honest about what he had to do, and got the job done as promised. Looks great and he even made it wider than I requested.
Description of Work: Came and looked at the driveway we wanted replaced. Nothing else

+ -1 moreThe owner came to do the estimate and took about ten minutes to assess the work area. It was a standard digging out of the current area and filling with the black top. They are very well known in the area. I know they do good work, it's just hard getting them to come out because they are always so busy.
Description of Work: They provided an estimate for the installation of a driveway.

Description of Work: My husband contacted Gene last year in May he came and gave us an estimate that was very reasonable and we told him we wanted him to do the job. Gene quoted us a start date in a couple of weeks from the day we spoke. Two weeks came and went by and and a week later we contacted him to find out he was busy with a big job and would start our driveway after he finished that job. So another 2 weeks went by and no phone call from him so my husband tried to contact him with no response so I called him on my cellphone and he picked up not recognizing my number. So I confronted him about the issue and he promised me he would be able to fit us into his schedule after a job he was doing in our area was done and even told me he would give me a better quality blacktop for the same price. Okay so here it is May 2014 and we have "Kitchen Paving" doing our driveway in 2 weeks!!

+ -1 moreHe is a busy guy, so if you are obsessive about prompt call back your feathers will be ruffled. But once he confirmed the time and date of the job he blew us away. They started at 1 and were done in 3 hours and our driveway looked great and perfectly shaped! I would definitely refer my friends and family to Gene.

+ -1 moreI called Gene and asked him to give me an estimate for my new driveway. He came highly recommended so I thought I would give him a chance. I received 3 estimates and Gene was the middle price wise, but I'm a firm believer in and quot; you get what you pay for and quot;. I decided to go with him after meeting and it was a great decision. I live in a development where finding a level grade is very difficult but his crew was very professional and they handled the job perfect. He said he would be there at 2pm and I received a phone call at 1:45 saying they were at the site and ready to go! The driveway came out just as planned and I highly recommend Genes paving!
Description of Work: Gene installed a drive way for my new construction home.

+ -1 moreCost came in at quote (given 4-28-12). The only glitch was that Gene was involved with a large commercial job and was unable to schedule my job until that job was completed. I could not have been happier when it was finally done. It only took one full day and looks as good today that it did when it was completed..
Description of Work: Gene & his crew tore out old drive way and replaced with 10" stone and 4" (total) asphalt.

+ -1 moreIt started well with one exception. Gene wanted to raise the price since his quote, citing higher material prices. He never provided a detailed estimate so we had to negotiate a compromise. The actual work itself was completed in one long day and was good, except for some minor damage to my garage door frame and some debris left near the worksite (drink bottles, an old t shirt) Within a month I started to see tire tracks and damage from cars turning around. He said this might continue for a period due to the pavement curing. But this has gone on for 15 months, and the pavement continues to be marred- it has at least 20 deep scars from car tires. Gene was quite unprofessional in recent discussions, losing his temper and insisting I was unreasonable. I have never seen a driveway, or other paved surface with such scarring. He finally agreed to seal it for free with the hope that this would prevent future scarring. That was to occur five weeks ago, but he never showed. I left two messages, both unanswered. He may do good work for others, and enjoy a good reputation, but I cannot recommend Gene's Paving.

+ -1 morethey showed up on time, Dug out the old driveway with a power shovel. Used wheel barrows to spread the stone. Spread the asphalt and rolled it. Put up tape to protect it.The work was efficient and well done. My only complaint was they left refuse around the yard from their lunch.

Individual was professional and after visiting my property, in a timely manner, got back to me with an estimate that I accepted. + -1 moreIt didn't go!!! We will never use him again, and nothing would make me happier than for him to show up while the other company is here doing the work.
Description of Work: We contacted Gene's Paving last summer, mostly because we had seen their work done around the area, and they were local. We like to support local businesses when possible. He came within a couple of days to look at our driveway, and give us an estimate. He did tell us that he wouldn't be able to get to us until August, and that was OK with us. August came and went, and he then pushed us back to September, early October. When he didn't call or show up then, we called to tell him to put us first on the list for the following spring. Of course, he said that would be ok. I called in May, he assured us that we were indeed at the top of his list, and he would be calling soon to let us know the date. He did actually call 2 weeks ago on a Thursday to say that he would be here the following day, but never showed up or called. It had rained pretty hard in the am, and I understood. He then explained that he would look at his schedule and call me in 2 days to give me a date. That was 2 weeks ago, and I have not heard from him. I will not give him the courtesy of telling him I am having the work done by someone else.
