SDS Tree & Stump Removal

Overall very satisfied with the entire process working with Scott and his crew at SDS! They quoted the job in early May and worked with me to schedule a time that worked for both of us. This was a large job and SDS was extremely efficient with a good size crew. They showed up shortly before 7am on Tuesday and the job was completed by 10am on Wednesday. Scott was flexible and added some work that wasn't initially in the scope for minimal charge. He has all the right equipment in top condition to do the job right for a reasonable price. I received 5 quotes for the job and SDS has the best reviews on Angie's list at the best price! Thanks SDS!

Punctual, efficient, professional. I've hired them before for a small job and would hire them again in a heartbeat. Estimate was right in line with others I received. Appreciated they waited until the ground was dry to drive on my lawn. Minimal damage.

Scott and his crew were very professional. The estimate for the work was very reasonable. Scott was glad to complete additional work at request on the day of work. The crew showed up on time and got right to work. We were amazed at how quickly and efficient they completed the work. Much of the work performed was on and close to our neighbors property which they were very mindful of and professional. We are already planning on having SDS back to do more work and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to have tree work done.

Estimate was reasonable, work performed on time and professionally. Took down the problem tree to the dirt and ground out the stump. I was at work, it was all accomplished while I was gone while my wife watched the job proceed. They also trimmed up a couple of problem limbs on a few other trees at our request at no extra charge. Our next door neighbors observed their work and requested the company's contact information. Satisfied customers, will definitely use them again.

The team seemed to be in sync with one another, were diligent, efficient, professional, careful and neat every step of the way.They asked me to go inside to avoid any danger of falling limbs and I complied. They completed the job that I paid for efficiently and effectively.. When they left I noticed one limb still needed to be cut. I talked to the owner this morning, he said that if he is over this way today he will stop by to cut the limb for me. All in all I was extremely satisfied and pleased with the job they did.

They were on time and very quick. The ground the stump and did a great job.

Excellent experience. Scott returned my initial phone call within hours and set up a time to come for an estimate. He arrived promptly, provided a written and very reasonable estimate. The holly bush he cut down had been hit by winterkill and was a huge one. The trees he trimmed were in a neighbor's yard but large branches hung over a garden shed in my back yard. He worked in a tight spot between that shed and a chain link fence -- did a great job. The crew did a thorough clean up job. I would definitely hire again and would recommend this service.

Scott (owner) and crew were terrific! Showed up on time, worked responsibly, did some last minute requests and cleaned up very well. Could not have had a better experience! In fact, one of the best contractor experiences I've ever had.

They were fantastic. Got us scheduled quickly and brought out all the heavy machinery (including a crane) to get it done. They were in and out and were cheaper than another company, plus cut the tree trunks into pieces for us. Would most definitely use again.

Contacted SDS to remove some trees in anticipation of having a new fence installed. Contacted three tree services to quote on removing a large dead pine tree in a difficult-to-reach area of the back yard, removing a smaller tree in the front, trimming a large overgrown dogwood tree next to the house and do some other miscellaneous trimming. SDS's quote was approximately half as much as each of the other two services. After awarding the job to SDS, Scot called me during the week he had originally estimated and arranged to come over to do the work the next day and called me the morning of the removal prior to his arriving. By the time I arrived home to meet him, his crew had already arrived, had removed one tree, part of the crew was up in the second tree cutting it down, and another crew member was in a bucket truck trimming the dogwood tree. The entire job took about three hours and Scot's crew worked continuously during the entire time. It's been a long time since I've seen a group of guys work as hard as Scot's crew. They did a good job of cleaning-up the yard after the work was complete, and they had laid down plywood for the bucket truck to drive on over the yard so there was not a bit of damage to the lawn from the bucket truck. I would definitely hire SDS again in the future.

Scott visited the site to prepare an estimated cost and gave an approximate date when he could perform the service. Weather was a factor. On the scheduled date his team of eight arrived early, and secured the trees to permit safe climbing and prevent them from falling on the sheds. Once stabilized, two climbers took to the trees and systematically topped and dropped the branches and trunks in convenient pieces. No collateral damage was done to adjoining trees, unlike previous jobs by other contractors I'v e engaged. The ground crews hauled the branches and logs out to the chipper and thoroughly cleaned the site. The stumps were not ground down since they were located at the edge of a wood lot and wet land where they were not objectionable. Scott and his team were very professional and efficient and I would highly recommend SDS Tree and Stump Removal.

Scott and his crew are fantastic! I first contacted Scott after seeing all the favorable reviews on Angie's list. I had also seen his equipment in the neighborhood. He returned my call within a couple hours and set up a time to do an estimate a few days later. He called the day before the work was scheduled to let me know their arrival time, but then had to reschedule for the next day due to inclement weather. Scott and his crew arrived on time and went right to work, I was particularly impressed with the tree climbers and their skill at freeing a large broken tree top ("widowmaker") lodged in a big pine in our back yard, not easily accessible with a crane or bucket. They took away all the debris, ground the stumps, raked the area, and even used a leaf blower to clear wood chips from the street.. I recommend SDS without hesitation and will definitely call them the next time I need any tree work done.

Scott was very professional & did great work. He showed up ahead of schedule with his team & they completed the job in a timely fashion. Also the quote he gave us was exactly what he charged & it was the best price we found by a couple hundred dollars. Our yard looks great! Highly recommended.

We had a great experience with Scott and his company. Scott arrived for an estimate of work right on time. He was very knowledgeable and his estimate was fair. The job was done as scheduled and with complete professionalism. There was no damage to our property, even though two very large trees that were to be removed were located in a difficult area to access. Without hesitation we recommend Scott and will definitely call him again if we need more work performed.

It took two calls to him. He returned my second call and gave me an estimate.. Price was OK But his lead time didn't fit my schedule. I would call again if I need his service.

I thought the price was very reasonable for all the work that had to be done. Scott arrived early to provide us with the estimate the first time we met him. We had to play phone tag for a couple of weeks to get the service scheduled, but this was in part because I was hard to reach as well. It was worth the wait to have someone like Scott do such a good job.

I called two highly rated Angie's List providers, including SDS, and both returned my calls promptly, set up appointments to give me estimates, appeared on time, as promised to evaluate and provide the estimates, and advise on other work that could be done around the immediate area of the trees in question. Their estimates were within $100 of each other. I decided to go with Scott Salmon of SDS Tree & Stump Removal partly because of the number of quality reviews he has here, partly because he is a bit more locally situated than the other provider, and, yes, partly because his quote was just a little bit lower than the other. When I called Scott to let him know we had chosen him, he told me he would be able to schedule the job within about 3 weeks. Sure enough, about 2 weeks later he called to let me know he'd be there the following Tuesday, and he gave me a 2-hour window. On the day of the job, I heard the trucks pulling up to the house right at the start of that 2-hour window. I was busy with something and figured I'd wait till they rang the bell to show them what had to be done and give them the go-ahead, etc. About 10 minutes later I heard a lot of action outside and the sounds from all the machinery they had brought, and I realized they just went ahead and started the job. I wondered how they knew so well where the work had to be done, so I went outside and found out that the owner himself, Scott, was right there on the job along with a crew of about 8 others. Scott knew exactly what had to be done and was already behind the wheel of the giant crane he had brought along to take down the towering trees. I kept my distance from the action, because there ropes and chains and hooks and heavy logs being hoisted around, plus the action from the wood chippers, already in motion and gobbling up the many branches that had been trimmed off in preparation for cutting down the giant trunks. All the crew members were friendly, but all were focused on the job at hand. It looked like a tough job to me, because they had to work within a narrow space between my garage and our neighbors' fence. They worked quickly and efficiently, and guided all the heavy tree parts carefully within the space they had. The chippers were working like crazy, and Scott operated the crane with precision in that narrow space. His workers, from tree climber to cleanup crew, all seemed like pros--courteous, competent, careful, efficient, and team-oriented. They were obviously well managed by Scott. When the job was just about done, I remembered that we had a small stump in our front yard left from an ornamental small tree we took down ourselves last year. I asked Scott if he could grind that stump down, and he had his grinder operator take care of that at no extra charge. Except for some wood chips on the grass near the big trees that eventually mulched themselves into the lawn, we could find no evidence that these two hulking trees had been standing there just 90 minutes before. Everyone who has seen the space since has said they couldn't believe we had two big trees there. We had an excellent experience all the way around with Scott Salmon and SDS Tree & Stump Removal. We will likely call them in again during late autumn to do some tree trimming on our property. Highly recommended, and without reservation.

They arrived on time . Worked very hard consistent. Mindful of our property. We were very impressed!!

We had to spruce buts (trunks) removed.. Large around.Went great. My husband had removed all the limbs. They were like two totem poles on our front lawn. SDS came, took them down, carted away the wood and was able to cut down the stumps close to the ground for us so we could plant in that space. These trunks were about 14 feet tall and their circumference possible 16 inches or more. The two men that came were excellent, professional and fast. They cleaned up after themselves and were done Scott Salmon was the same, prompt and completely professional. Please understand both my husband and I were COMPLETELY SATISFIED.

First off, spot on punctual! This after getting us in early due to another customer's cancellation. I was getting ready for work , and within that hour I was already blown away! They showed up with a team of friendly and professional staff. we needed our woods cleaned up and our trees trimmed, along with a few stumps taken out. Scott was great. He went over everything with us and when we got back, it was all done! I couldn't believe how much got done in one day. Everything was cleaned up and or property looks so much better! I highly recommend SDS.
