Cleaned up very well at completion of work. Began the job on-time and finished on schedule. There were a few add-ons (i.e. extra work) to the original proposal that were considered appropriate and reasonable.

Larry and his crew puts a lot into the job and also followed all of our requests. They were quick and efficient The end result? We love the work and we now have the patio and walkway we wanted, they delivered it within our budget, and not a penny over. We had a lot of complements for our friends and neighbors. Description of Work: I used Sagona Contracting about a month ago. I had a sewer line put in from the house to the road, so they had to tear up my front lawn so I had them come in and level everything out, reseed it and basically put me grass down and then I also had some reseeding on the other side of my lawn and maintenance work.

I received a quote from several companies, but Larry at Sagona offered the most logical and economical solution for my situation. They were very fair and easy to work with. Give these guys a call and you won't be disappointed.
Description of Work: Poured new concrete on each side of my house sloping away to assist with water problems in basement. They also attached drain sleeves to dry wells in case of future drainage problems with soil.

+ 0 moreMy overall experience with Sagona was incredible. Both Tom's from Sagona came to my house the same day I called for an estimate and there was no pressure or any sales pitch. They took the time to go over every detail with my wife and myself. We decided to use Sagona and we couldn't be any happier with our decision. They sent us all the items that were to be installed prior to doing the work so we can do some research and they answered every question we had. They came in and installed our sprinkler system and left the lawn looking better than before the install, the job was clean and perfect. I would not change a thing. Sagona was the most professional and organized company I have worked with. I highly recommend Sagona to anyone that is looking to add a sprinkler system or any other services Sagona offers.

+ 1 moreThe Sagona company sent their representative, (Charlie), over the day after my call. Charlie was most pleasant, he was also very competent. He quickly assessed the problem and proposed the solution, price and time required to complete. He presented me with a written estimate of the work to be done and the materials required. Due to weather conditions, the job had to be delayed for about three weeks. However, during that time Charlie was in regular communication with me. Once started, the job went very smoothly. The three workers were under the supervision of Charlie. They had the materials and tools at hand and without delay removed an area of useless sod and dug out about two feet of soil and rock and replaced the same with crushed rock, top soil and new sod all at a new, proper and better grade. Over the crushed rock, they had added a mesh material to withhold the dirt and allow drainage. The also drilled adequate holes in the wall to allow the drainage water to escape. The job took about five hours. The men did a very good job of cleaning and removing the refuse. Although I had an estimate from another party for less money, I'm glad I went with Sagona.
Description of Work: Job comprised regrading a portion of a slanting yard that was collecting water and not draining properly thus destroying the lawn and endangering an adjoining wall.

The landscaping techniques and artistry made a vast difference not only in the beautification of the property but in the water draingage problems that had existed prior to work performed by Sagona Landsacping in 2011. Subsequently, It would only make sense to rehire Sagona for our maintenance landscaping needs. Once again, 36 Hamilton was pleasantly rewarded by the professionalism and talent of the Sagona Landscaping team.
Description of Work: Remulch property, hand feed and trim existing aborvite trees, trim all existing hedges, weed and feed lawns, planting of new bushes and flower beds. Replacing irriagation sprinkler head and opening irrigation system.

They: Came quickly to provide an estimate, Were very straightforward about the work to be done, Provided good advice and input regarding the scope of workWere honest and very responsive about the timeline (we were delayed for a couple of days because of the weather and I recieved calls ahead of time to reschedule) The quality of work was excellent, my only complaint was that a few of the block that were supposed to be cemented came loose, but the work was repaired with no trouble. During the work, the team was responsive to my requests and actively sought my input if there were any uncertainties. I was contacted quickly afterward to go over the work and to ensure satisfaction and I was given instruction on care following the work.

+ 2 moreAs board president of 36 Hamilton Avenue Cooperative for the past 4 years, I am very involved with the hiring and execution of all contracted jobs. Sagona Landscaping once again has exceeded my expectations for their professionalism, responsiveness and quality of work.
Description of Work: Sagona Landscaping Company was hired to install a sprinkler system for the newly planted trees and existing shrubs as well as the sod replacement which enhanced the existing sod and soil. The sprinkler system was installed beneath ground for the irrigation of approx. 300 linear feet of plants and sod . The system is set by an automatic timer installed in the garage which is easily accessible for the superintendent and the super was instructed on the mechanics of the system in case need be. Sagona Landscaping returned at the end of the season and blew the lines clean and shut down the system for the winter. They are scheduled to return in the early spring to service and open the lines for the sprinkler use for the season.

This team is punctual and responsive to the clients needs and willing to go the extra mile. An example of the latter, in 2 separate sections of the 200 linear feet of installed pavers an individual design technique ( using different sizes and shapes of paving stones ) was used to enhance the beauty of the pavers and building at no additional cost to the building. Sagona landscaping is a company with integrity upholding a priority of client satisfaction. It was a pleasure doing business with Sagona Landscaping . I would recommend this company if you want the job done right!
Description of Work: Sagona Landscaping was hired to landscape the property at 36 hamilton Avenue, Staten Island , New York while correcting a water drainage issue that was causing ongoing soil erosion which ultimately resulted in a gulley at the fence line. Complicating this matter is the fact that our Coop building is built on a a hill midway from the top and is the path in which the rain water forcibly runs down. After several estimates, as well as, many different probable solutions from various contractors I, as board president , chose Sagona Landscaping for his vast knowledge which was evident upon our initial meeting.. Pavers were installed in rows of 3 (approx. 2 feet ) pitched away from the building and a border of pavers installed at the soil line where mulch was layered for a finished look for approx. 200 linear feet. Additionally, the hedges were trimmed 12 trees, as well as, 5 new bushes some sod planted and approx 150 linear feet of mulch layered atop of soil bordering the rest of the building. Lastly, a zipper drain and an expansion of an existing drain was installed at the side entrance that continually had flooding issues causing water to enter the building in the basement. In order to fully deter any water runoff entering at the side entrance Sagona landscaping installed a second step with an inherent pitch away from the building and pavers cemented on both stairs for an ecleptic look.

+ 3 moreAfter having spoken with a number of landscaping companies, I had the chance to meet with Larry, who seemed by far the most professional and knowledgable of everyone I received quotes from. I described what it was I was looking to do, and he was very proactive about illustrating the finer details of how the job would be performed. After going over materials, and giving us his opinion, we settled on a Cambridge paver with Armor-tec, which would look the best going forward. Larry's quote was the best we had received of the 6 quotes we had gotten over a 6 month period of time, and we signed on immediately. He was extremely accurate with estimated times of when his team would start, and how long the job would require. The job required the use of a bobcat, and I was concerned about a section of my custom fence having to be removed to allow for access. The fence was very carefully handled, and put back with no damage whatsoever. The job was completed quickly, and thoroughly. I even changed some of my plans for the steps in the middle of the job, and was completely accommodated without question. The entire site was cleaned up, and they even filled in and reseeded a section of my lawn where some of the bobcat traffic was. Overall I would consider myself extremely satisfied, and will definitely recommend them to anyone looking for this type of work.
Description of Work: I designated an area 33 X 14 of uneven grass Where I wanted to create a patio. The entire area was finished with pavers, and a set of new steps were built to accommodate an entrance into the house. Additionally a new basement window well was created.

+ 4 moreI have used them to put in a retaining wall when we moved in here and filled in a large area of the backyard to level it out. They have put some trees in and some landscaping. They did a patio, and on another occasion, they added to the patio stones and made a larger area. They were the only ones that would do something like what they did. We were not really allowed to touch the fences back there, so they built the stone wall up right alongside the fence and filled it in with top soil. It allows the water to flow through but keeps the dirt in there. There was nothing that I disliked about them, and that is why I have kept calling them back all the time. They have done beautiful work. They have good artists doing the stone work. Overall, everything was done very nicely. I have a personal relationship with Larry. He is excellent and has great knowledge. Every time I call him, he is here when he should get here. He is not their only contact man, but I only deal with him; somebody else might have a different experience in terms of their responsiveness. I think I spent $11,000 and $2000 on two different occasions. I would use them again in the future; in fact, over the last two years, we have talked to him about other jobs, but we have not really got everything in place to get it done.
