I truly appreciate the talent, professionalism, and respect that Sagona had while completing the job. Every team member treated my home like their own and were skilled at what they do. Even the smallest details were executed perfectly. The job site was left clean every night. Work started on time and project was completed quickly despite three snow storms during the work. The entire team’s worth ethic is a testament to their values and was clear throughout this project. Highly recommend Sagona. This is their first job for me and they will be the only landscape design and build company I will use in the future.

The gentleman who came to give me an estimate was very courteous. Polite. Professional and I have nothing bad to say about them. However when they sent me the estimate are their prices compared to a bunch of other places I had give me estimates their prices are not even competitive.

The scraping and the preparation was done well and the grass looks great!

Sagona is wonderful! Did all of the work timely and as promised. Thomas was always attentive and detail oriented. His work crew was hard working and very pleasant. Pricing was fair. The very detailed estimate Thomas emailed me broke the work into sections, so I was free to pick and choose how much I wanted to do/spend at one time. Thomas also made excellent suggestions, but never a hard sell. I would highly recommend this contractor, and am in fact using them again myself next year. Not only was the quality of the work first class, so was the experience of dealing with the people. P.S. I keep getting neighbors complimenting the work, wanting to know who did it.

First I would like to thank Tom, and everyone else involved in my project. I was overwhelmed at the thought of hiring a contractor because I had never done a project of this scale before but once I hired Sagona Contracting all my fears where laid to rest. "You get what you paid for" how many times have I heard that one but in this case it was definitely appropriate. They provided exactly the service and professionalism I needed to get the project done. Tom was a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgeable. He helped guide me through the process and envision my final result. My rear yard was pretty much a mess between the old patio blocks and different levels of concrete and poor drainage around my foundation. My rear yard was pretty much gutted and redone. All the old concrete and patio blocks were torn out and replace with pavers around the foundation. My old concrete patio was also replaced with pavers so now there is a nice flow from the front of house to the rear patio which now overlooks a newly sodded grassy area that is bordered with an area for planting. My water issues were addressed and my rear yard is no longer a concrete jungle it is actually an area I can enjoy being in now and relax, I had always wanted grass in my rear yard so thanks again Sagona for providing me with a little slice of paradise. My new front steps, driveway and walkways are also a pleasure to look at and my neighbors were so impressed a couple of them hired Sagona do various projects for them as well. Any questions, calls and emails were always addressed quickly. The job started on time and ended on time and the work site was always left tidy. It was definitely money well spent and look forward to summer in my new surroundings.

Earlier this year we decided to re-do the front of our property. We wanted to enlarge our brick stoop, new concrete sidewalk and pavers for our driveway and walk. Fortunately, we found Sagona Contracting on Angie's List. We decided to have them do the work and could not be more satisfied with the outcome. Tom & Kevin Sagona oversaw the project and couldn't be more patient and courteous before and during the project. Their workers were skilled craftsmen and always cleaned the area at day's end. They worked 8 + hours a day and completed the job in 6 days. We highly recommend Sagona Contracting.

There is an old saying “you always get what you pay for”. How many times have you heard that one? I’m guessing a lot. Last year Sagona transformed the front of our house and as we mentioned in our first review, the results far exceeded our expectations. This year we turned our attention to the backyard. For some background, we have been in our house since 1999 and shortly after we moved in, invested a few dollars to “clean up” what was an un-kept space. We added new sod and plenty of river rocks around the pool and the side of the house. Stone steppers were all over the place to avoid walking directly on the vast array of rocks. It served our needs then but was in no way our dream space. With the front of the house redone by Sagona, it further amplified just how much we needed to now focus on the back. We called Thomas and he came over for a consultation. My wife and I gave him some high-level thoughts of what we were envisioning. I want to make the point that it was very high-level. Tom’s attention to detail and creativity is remarkable. All you need to do is provide a few details and he will do the rest. For the record, we never take that approach with other contractors but Sagona has fully earned our trust. A week later, Tom returned with a few renderings and we quickly agreed on a concept. It was a beautiful blend of pavers, a custom retaining wall and plenty of landscaping options to soften the hardscape. Tom followed up asking several clarifying questions, and we just kept responding in the same way “Tom, do whatever you think.” What a pleasure it is to have the confidence in a company that you don’t have to document every single detail in fear that something will be missed or worse, worrying that you won’t end up getting what you paid for. I will end this review with a short story to further punctuate their attention to detail and a final pitch on why you need to put Sagona on your short list. So, here is the short story – on the side of our deck is pit with a sump pump in it. Covering the sump pump was an ugly cement block. Tom said to us “don’t worry, we will take care of it and make it look nice”. They crafted a custom steel grid and the pavers sit on top of it with 2 recessed stainless steel hooks to allow for access to the pump. Shortly after they finished, I went to Home Depot, bought two “J” hooks and made handles to help remove the pump cover (supplies were under $5 in total). Shortly thereafter, I noticed 2 custom made hooks hanging on a handmade rack under my deck. Freshly painted and way better than what I made. I never expected them to think of that detail but after I saw it laughed to myself and said, I should have known they would have thought of that too! Finally, we hear all the time about the extra service and detail you get from a family owned business. I will say that Sagona epitomizes that concept.

I had good service from them and I would recommend them.

They team arrived as scheduled and started the work quickly but always cleaned up the surrounding areas. They were able to transplant an existing miniature Japaneses Maple tree with ease as well as install 3 6ft Arborvitae trees. The backyard was completely transformed as you can see in the pictures. It was a very hot day but they were able to finish all of the work in one day and I am very happy with the results. The new sod is beautiful and still looks great!! Thank you Sagona!!

Sagona is a reliable and dependable company. The project manager, Larry, is conscientious, punctual, a designer, and a color expert. He keeps the project on track, and addresses all issues in a timely and professional manner, a definite asset to the company. His workers are highly skilled, courteous, and neat. Overall, this is a very respectful and communicative contractor to do business with. I will be calling them for my next project, as well as my dad. My husband and I recently contracted Sagona Landscape Contracting to make improvements on the exterior and landscape of our home. The timing was right as the City had just finished a 3-year long sewer project in our neighborhood. Needless to say, our landscaping was a mess and many sections of the side walk and walkway were damaged during the sewer connection process. In addition, our home had blue vinyl siding on all four sides and just didn?t have the curb appeal we wanted. All this led us to consider investing in some major exterior home improvements. Larry from Sagona was the first, and as it turned out, the only, contractor we spoke with. It is important to mention that prior to this experience, my husband and I never made a decision without speaking to several contractors first - but this was different. Larry was such a professional and clearly had a strong knowledge of all aspects of exterior improvement including landscaping, pavers, drainage and masonry. All of which was complimented by his background in design. It was immediately clear that Sagona offered a full suite of services and could accommodate all of our needs with the exception of vinyl siding. We wanted a paver walkway, more hardscape / less lawn and a stone veneer on the lower portion of the house. Larry listened carefully to our ideas and documented them all during the discussion. He was not at all pushy and only offered suggestions that enhanced the concept we had envisioned. He promised to create a design rendering and provide an estimate within a few days. A week later they both arrived as promised and as they say, a picture is worth a 1,000 words. The thought that our home could look like the rendering was very exciting. Every detail we mentioned was included and what he recommended clearly enhanced the look. We never realized that the symmetry of our walkway related to our front door was not aligned, but Larry did, and accounted for it. Shortly after we agreed to move forward, production started. The team was professional and courteous and impeccably clean. Every truck and piece of equipment was clean and perfectly maintained. Each night, they ended with a full clean-up and you could barely tell they worked during the day. Thomas Sagona, was on-site daily and attended to all of our questions and additional needs. Thomas? professionalism and attention to detail was remarkable. It got to the point that everything we thought of he already contemplated and was working on. My husband and I are both very detail oriented and we quickly realized we should just let go and let them handle what they were experts in. Every piece of the stone veneer was hand cut and fitted to perfection. The stairs leading up to the front door were completely transformed with the stone veneer on the risers and limestone treads. The pavers added to the door landing area just finished the look perfectly. The paver walkway has many intricate cuts and looks great as well. All new concrete was poured on our two driveways and sidewalk. I can go on and on but the key is that every bit of work, regardless of the type, was completed with care and total craftsmanship. Could we have gotten a better deal? Who knows and honestly, not sure we care at this point. The one thing we are sure about is that we wouldn?t have received a higher level of professionalism or a result that could have topped what we now have and enjoy today. Put Sagona on your short list ? you won?t be disappointed.

Contacting the company was a breeze. After I provided info on the work I need to be done and my contact number, I was called back by Larry to setup an appointment to provide me with an estimate. The appointment was 1 or 2 days after my initial call and at a time convenient for me, so I didn't have to take any time off from work. I had few options on what exactly I'd like to do with the backyard and Larry provided quotes for them to choose the one that worked best for me. He also made some valuable suggestions on particular technical issues I had and demonstrated good knowledge and experience. The price quote was delivered after a day or two in a very timely fashion and what I particularly liked about this process, is that it was not provided on the spot out of thin air like some other contractors did, but Larry actually took the notes and time to actually estimate the cost based on labor and material, rather than giving me a "guestimate" and the rate was transparent to me. That made my choosing the best value option easier for me as I was completely aware how much I'm paying for particular part of the job. I ended up choosing the more expensive option, but the one that would provide better value for me. I was also impressed that Tom Sagona and his son (also Tom) found time to stop by before the project started to take another look at the site and make sure all issues had been discussed and agreed. A pleasant surprise was that they could start work even few weeks earlier than initially anticipated. Tom Jr. was on site to supervise the process and any concerns I had were taken care of in a good working manner. The workers were skilled, accurate and respectful. One day they were working long overtime to make sure the pavers were all laid before anticipated heavy rain storm next day. They even offered an installation option better than I had designed initially and it worked out great providing more useful space in my backyard. My neighbors were also commenting on how well the process was organized. Overall, my experience with Sagona was very positive, worry-free and at times even exceeded my expectations because of my prior experience with other contractors. To be honest, their quote was higher than some other guys had provided, but in this case I really feel I got what I paid for (which is sadly rare this days) and I received 5% discount for being Angie's List member. The price on the materials was competitive and I do not mind to pay a little more for good labor. It is too early for me to say how the patio will hold up over the years because installing pavers on a concrete slab is not a "traditional" way, although often found in NYC and Long Island. It may become more clear after some freeze-thaw cycles.They did not install wire mesh into the concrete slab as was initially discussed, but I hope that will be resolved in some satisfactory manner if this becomes an issue. I'm only bringing this up because I do not know if I should be concerned of concrete slab cracking over the years making the patio uneven and the weeds growing through, although I was assured that wouldn't be an issue.

This whole experience went really well. Tom Sagona and his crew were punctual and cleaned up all the debris. Tom gave us an estimate of how long the project would take and he kept to that timetable. He went over every detail with us and was always available to answer any of our questions. He promised beautiful results and he delivered!! We are really pleased with the end result and will definitely be using them again for future projects.

Sagona came, assessed the situation, gave us accurate quote. Very timely, worked fast and efficiently. Handled inquires professionally, good with texts and email communication. The crew worked well together and they had all the right equipment to work in our small space. They were tidy and cleaned up after work was complete.

This is my second go round with Sagona Landscaping and once again they shine. They installed Techo Block pavers on my front walkway and driveway as well as provided maintenance on my shrubbery. They are punctional and professional in every sense. I am having them return in the fall to install new shrubs in the front yard.

Beautifully....this is the best experience I have had with a contractor EVER. Thomas and Tom are knowledgeable and professional in every sense of the word. Gentlemen and a pleasure to work with. They assemble their teams according to their expertise and it shows.Clearly, the teams work as a unit and problem solve together. They clean up each and every day! PRICELESS!!!!!! Thomas is always accessible and responds quickly if needed. What I appreciate immensely is that there is no detail too small. When I commented, just in passing, that there seemed to be less red stone than what the catalog showed, Thomas hit the stone yards, found more and used it to great effect and to my delight. A man on a mission. The stone front of the house looks absolutely beautiful. Many compliments from neighbors and passers-by. Would use them again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. FOOTNOTE: Other contractors would do well to emulate the "SAGONA" work ethic!!!!!

Sagona Contracting has to be the most professional company that I have done business with. From the initial contact I had with them to the finished product they are ruly pro's . I first called them on a Saturday morning after reading about them on Angie.s List. The first ring was picked up by a professional answering service. The receptionist took my contact information and ensured me I would get a call back within an hour. Well 15 minutes later Tom Sagona JR returned my call , discussed what I wanted and set up a meeting for 1:00 Monday. Tom showed up right on time and measured the job , then sat down with my wife and I to discuss possible options. Tom had product books from all major paver manufacturers. Later that night, as promised, I received a detailed proposal by Email. Once I decided to go forward with the job I submitted a binder and we agreed on a start date of Monday , May 18. Tom called the week before and asked if it would be ok to start early on May 16, which they did. On day one Sagona contracting showed up with a convoy of impressive equipment and 8 experienced workers. They finished the job in 3 days. Day one- demo the existing concrete , also removing 4 inch of dirt ,leveling and pitching the dirt and compacting a stone base. Day 2 -they poured all the concrete, sub base in the drive way, and completed the side walk.. Day 3 all the pavers were set and joint filled with polymeric sand. Besides from the work coming out fantastic the company ensured everything was cleaned after each day and took care not to inconvenience the neighbors. Responded on time, every time and their professional team was on the job, everyday, at the promised time. Quality work at every level, professional staff, and easy to do business with. Had several estimates, all slightly lower in price, but it was evident from the beginning that they are The most professional landscaping team of the group. Very satisfied with the quality of installation and professionalism of Sagona. We had a fairly large patio area that had cracked concrete and was greatly in need of updating. The company rep who came out for estimate was prompt and knowledgeable and provided estimate within a day and with concept pics . Every email was answered quickly - We were in a bit of a time constraint and Sagona was able to complete our project in time for a family event. Each day they arrived promptly when they said they would and the workers cleaned up after themselves daily . The stone work is absolutely beautiful and the landscaping is terrific. I would definitely recommend Sagona!
