My husband and I had an electrical problem in our home involving our light switches. Unfortunately for us, my husband is a Do It yourself type of person. As a result we almost burnt our house down. Needless to say we couldnt do the job. So before we were able to do any more damage, we call a profressional electrician, Rodger. When we were able to get in contact with him, he was actually on his way home from another job. Based on our situtation, he detoured and made his way to my home. When he arrived, he said he would check out the problem and fix what needed to be fixed the following day. As he inspected, he saw that we had no electricity on our second floor. He saw we were in bad shape and decied to complete the job right then and there even though it was getting late. He was so curtious, helpful, and caring. He didnt have to do it because it was really late and he was on his way home. he was a true professional in every sence of the word. Not to mention, we have carpeting in our home, he was considerate enough to put on shoe covers as soon as he walk into my home. I didnt even ask him, he just did it. Very respectful. This was a great experience and im so thankful that I was able to receive such a great service.

I called to set-up an appointment. I received a punctual call back within an hour. I explained the issue that I was having with one of the smoke detectors. Since it was old, I also asked the cost of replacing the four of them that I had in the house and the basement. After answering some questions, it was recommended that I change them and upgrade to the dual models (smoke/carbon monoxide). This way I would be in compliance with the requirement. Then, I was pleasantly surprised that they could have someone to me that afternoon. The two electricians arrived on-time. They immediately put "booties" on their shoes after they entered my home. They showed me the new units, explained their functions and asked where I wanted them to start and immediately began to work. They were very professional and cleaned up each area after the installations. This is not the first time that I have used them. I would highly recommend them.

When we was out replacing this wiring he was very professional, on time, very very through and cleaned up after himself like he wasn't ever there. The inspector told me that he was very very impressed with Roger's work. While he was here he told me it looked like someone else had done faulty work on my electrical; the inspector agreed and now I have to go to court for a "Notice of Violation and Hearing". Roger told me "I don't care if you hire me or someone else, just don't hire the people who did this work." I appreciate his honesty and he is helping me get my wiring of my cousin's home replaced.

Roger kept us informed throughout the project, first arranging a pre-construction field meeting with Con Ed to review the proposed layout. The work routing the lines from the interior wall and installing the panels on the exterior wall went smoothly and professionally, as was the conduit connection to the underground box. After the work was completed, he had to schedule and be on site for Con Ed to do the inspection and cutover, which also went smoothly. We are very satisfied with the results and appreciate that he kept us in the loop during the process!

When my boiler went off on 12/26, the plumber (Vigilante) replaced the transformer and said the thermostat also was not working due to faulty wiring. As a temporary measure he ran a line to the 1st floor & placed the thermostat there, giving me 2 options: $1000+ to run the line back to the original floor or $750 to install a wireless thermostat. With the thermostat on the 1st floor, the rest of the house was not getting adequate heat. Since the problem was with wiring, I thought to contact an electrician & remembered a past good experience with Roger De. He responded immediately & applied his expertise to the problem. Going back & forth from the main floor to the basement w the aid of his asst, he tested the wiring & assessed the problem. After a concerted effort he was able to correct the problem & reconnect the thermostat to the boiler as it had been before. I cannot speak more highly of Roger De; the words honesty & integrity come to mind. Highly recommended.

Roger is a class act. Every step of the way, he and his team were professional and competent. Our meter box was rusted and falling off our home. The electric company told us it was our responsibility to change it. Roger explained the process, pulled the permit, and then showed up on time to do the work. Their work was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves and I'm very happy with the outcome. The lights worked perfectly the first time and I've had no problem since. They were professional.

They rewired basement and updated outlets, replaced breaker box, and labeled existing electrical in an older home that needed updating. They were on time, extremely professional, and used high quality materials. I plan to use Roger again, his work was great.

I was extremely pleases with the work. Roger was very prompt and professional. He offered suggestions on the light placement for my kitchen and also the type of ceiling fans to install for the differnt size rooms. His work came out beautiful and the workers cleaned up very well after, you would never have known there was work done. I would recommend anyone needing electrical work to give him a call.

Professionals. This is the main word that should be used when describing this company. Roger squeezed me in on a busy day to provide me with an estimate of the work I needed done. We agreed on a price and he returned to perform the job on a later date. Roger arrived on time and started to work right away. During the course of the job, he discovered that some of the wires in both ceiling fans had not been grounded. He took the time to explain the dangers of having wires that are not grounded and corrected the issues. As we tested the wireless units, I could not help but to notice that the rooms looked as if no work had been performed in them. Not a sign of dust anywhere. Roger charged me the same amount of money discussed during the estimate consultation. He explained there was no need to charge extra since he completed the job within the alloted time to complete it. When was the last time you heard this from a company or a contractor??? This is a man with INTEGRITY. Knowing that I have found my new electrician, I brought up additional work I would like to do in the future. I look forward to working again with Roger and his company soon.

Roger is an extremely busy electrician but I was able to schedule an estimate a few days after contacting him. He arrived on time and did a thorough walk through of the job site, asking numerous questions and providing extensive input. I was given a comprehensive estimate via email that contained an itemization of all the issues and their associated costs. Roger's estimate was very competitive with the one's provided by the other electricians I contacted. My decision to hire Roger ultimately came down to his excellent reputation, a referral by a respected plumbing & heating technician and the strong impression he made during the initial visit. When I decided to hire Roger for the job I requested a formal contract for all work involved which was emailed to me promptly. In turn I was asked to provide an initial deposit which covered the costs of the necessary materials. The job spanned one and a half days. Roger was present on both days and had an active hand in the work. Roger's crew was equally professional and diligent. The work was done quickly and without issue, overruns or delays. They also repaired the minor damage done to the wall affected by the replacement of the 2nd floor breaker box (the old, out of code box was replaced by a much larger box that was repositioned so it was not in a confined space). Once the circuit breaker boxes were installed Roger and his crew methodically tested all the outlets in the house and marked the breakers accordingly. In doing so they also identified potential future problem with the first floor's wiring plan (unbeknownst to me most of the floor was operating on a single breaker!) and strongly recommended I install a few more lines for the refrigerator and appliances that draw large amounts of power. As an added bonus Roger spotted a hastily wired bathroom ceiling fixture that was out of code (the bad wiring was obscured by a drop ceiling) and had his crew fix it and bring the wiring up to code free of charge! I was also provided an additional freebie in the form of several faceplates for older outlets in the basement that had none. I plan on using Roger for all future electrical work and strongly recommend him to anyone looking for an electrician.

They squeezed me in same day, which was great, & they arrived when they said they would. They guy who came evaluated the problem, check all of the outlets that I indicated weren't working first, after that he checked the breakers and determined that the problem wasn't there. Next he went to the downstairs outlet and found that that was the source of the problem. He was able to fix it quickly (& safely, a previous owner of my house piggy-backed a line into the backyard shed that wasn't exactly up to code, I'm in the house 30 years and the problem just came up 2 days ago). Most contractors never want to come to Staten Island. I have lived on Staten Island for 15 years and have very recently had several bad experiences with contractors especially when I needed repairs as a result of damage from Hurricane Irene and Sandy. Roger's original estimate was for $165 to add a single GFCI in an existing opening in the wall and based on my description of work and he originally anticipated it would take a week for him to get there. When I had a firm date for my counter top and back splash to be installed Roger expedited the dispatch of his electricians to accommodate. When Joe and Jason arrived and accessed the existing condition they advised me it could not be done quite that way but the safer method would be to remove the single outlet box and enlarge the hole to accept a double outlet box. Then install one standard outlet protected by the GFCI already there. That cost for that work would be $225. The existing opening in the wall where I originally thought the outlet would be placed I needed to covered by me so the back splash could be installed and Joe advised me to remind the tile installer to not cover the outlet screws when installing the back splash. Jason verified my other GFCI was wired properly. The work was done promptly by competent electricians and they were professional, courteous and friendly.

Roger the electrician was hard to reach, but after three weeks, managed to schedule an appointment. Roger arrived exactly on time, in fact spot on. Showed him the recessed lights that do not work. He got to work, put his tester on the wires one bulb at a time, and informed that every one of them was receiving voltage and seemed like the sockets were at fault. He replaced the sockets, but 3 of the five did not work. He took a second look and mentioned that the transformers were damaged and needs to be replaced. He did not have the transformers and had to run to the store. He mentioned he does not know the cost but would be around $40. At this point we asked what the total cost would be, he mentioned about $380. An hour latter he came back, and started working on those 3 recessed lights. Took him less than 15 mins to change the transformers and he was done. We already had 4 LED bulbs and he got a new one. And now the trouble starts. He gave me a bill for $623.30 inclusive taxes. When asked for the older transformers, he mentioned he did not remove it and had left it as is. When questioned about this amount, he mentioned $50 for 5 sockets and $120 for 3 transformers. He mentioned they were 60 Watt Electronic dimmable transformers. I latter googled for price, sockets were about $3 each and transformers $20 each. When asked for the bill for the new transformers, sockets and for the one LED light, he became very argumentative and started screaming. At this point I felt threatened and unsafe. He mentioned if I do not pay him, he will rip all the recessed lights off. Hence had to pay him. At most he worked for 2 hours and charged $380 as labor. This is way beyond market rate. Providing no bill for item we purchased and being argumentative and threatening when asked for one is just not acceptable. On top of this all, later in the evening, we noticed one of the five lights was flickering. My husband took a look and he even questions if those transformers were indeed replaced. He did not show us the parts he replaced. We have put a hold on his check. We think the fair price to pay is $300 for labor, $60 for transformers, 15 for sockets and $25 for the LED light. That is a total of $400. On top of this we do not know, even if he changed the transformers. We feel we have been cheated of more than $223.20.

I had a friend replace an existing ceiling fan with a new one. I assumed this was an easy process. My friend said when he left the apartment, the fan and light were operational from both the chains on the fan itself and the wall switch. Several days later when I finally had a chance to check on his work, that proved to not be the case. My friend then used an electrical tester and discovered the wall switch was not getting power. It was time to stop fooling around and call an expert! I called Roger De because of the glowing reviews on Angie's List. I was not disappointed. His office returned my call within a few hours of my leaving a message. She told me they were very busy, but after taking a detailed account of what my situation was, she assured me they would call to schedule an appointment within the week. That was fine with me (and note to all the habitually impatient) if a tradesman is really good, they stay busy!!! In actuality, they called me back in 4 days and made an appointment with a reasonable 2 hour window for the next day .Roger himself called at the beginning of the window period (it was 11am-1pm he called me at around 10:40am) and said he would meet me at my location in 30 mins. He was early on time arriving with his helper in about 20 minutes. Climbing on a ladder and removing the fan, he immediately and accurately found the problem. He patiently explained everything , showed me where the problem was and entertained my endless questions. I actually have relatives who are very excellent electricians and have always done all my work, but they are in Brooklyn and they complain endlessly about coming 'across the bridge.' I had been hoping to find a local electrician with knowledge, grace and fair pricing. Now I have! Roger grew up in this business and is the ultimate 'old school' gentleman. It is not enough to be technically proficient, but you must have a great 'houseside manner' and be able to deal with all kinds of situations and personalities. He is VERY patient and not arrogant, judgmental or condescending like a lot of prima donnas in the trades are. He is now my electrician of record for Staten island. I will not use anyone else!!! (And I told him that.) And Angie's Listers...just a bit of advice from a girl who grew up in real estate and has owned properties since her teen years. With the important trades (Electric...Plumbing) don't just shop price. Look for service and quality. Roger De supplies both! PS He will go to Brooklyn for your electrical needs without batting an eye!

We first met Roger when we were considering buying our home. Our routine inspection revealed some electrical issues, so we had him come to provide an estimate for what the repairs and upgrades would cost. He did so promptly and courteously, making many sound recommendations and presenting several options. Once we closed and took possession, Roger soon began work, completing the major portion of the upgrades (new panel box and additional circuits) within a few days. The rest of the work (new fixtures and outlets) proceeded at later dates in seamless coordination with our many other contractors. Roger was also conscientious enough to pinpoint and remedy unsafe conditions that we weren't aware of to begin with, such as lack of proper grounding in the bathroom. Throughout the entire process Roger kept us apprised and was available to answer our many questions about the work and the existing conditions within the home. He always returned our emails within a business day, and usually within a matter of hours. But what we appreciated most of all was his ability to deal with us patiently as we made several changes and additions to the work we wanted done. We always felt as if Roger was more than just a contractor, but also a trusted adviser who was genuinely interested in working with us toward our goal. We will not hesitate to hire him again as we make additional improvements.

I had 3 outlets go out overnight so I called them and they came out. They walked around and determined why they went out and it didn't take them long at all. They replaced 17 outlets. They had all the supplies to do the job with them. They showed me how the old outlets were wired and why it was wrong and how they should be installed. They really gained my trust and were so pleasing to work with. There were 2 men and they worked the entire time they were at my house. I would use them again and again.

Very satisfied with the work completed on my home. My house is older and i was concerned that some of this work would be difficult, or impossible. Roger is a professional and was able to handle all of this without any problems. Roger was very helpful with recommendations even for some issues that were outside of electrical work. this helped us out since we are new homeowners. would definitely use these guys again.

The electrician who came over (sorry - name escapes me) was quick, polite, knowledgeable and helpful, and the job got done quickly and efficiently. The only negative was that the company is so busy (probably a victim of their own good service and hence positive reviews) that it took 2-3 weeks to get him over. But he even cut us a discount to compensate for that. Great service.
