They are a very large company in the New York area. They were prompt. They are always training, every time they come they bring an apprentice with them.

Handled all phases of the job professionally. Definitely experienced and knowledgeable with indoor plumbing.

We have been doing business with this company for years, despite the very high price, because they were punctual. In 2008 They replaced our water heater with an AO smith, Gas water heater. They brought the unit, and installed it. We were charged $1500.00 and given a 10 year warranty. On May 25th 2015, (7 years later) there was a loud cracking sound in the unit and water started gushing from the bottom and flooding the basement. I called Buttermark . Since my contract with them stated that we had a 10 year warranty, I was told that I would have to only pay labor of $450.00 A representative who later identified himself as Paul an owner, came to my house. Before even looking at the unit, I showed him the paperwork that we were given in 2008. It clearly states the date, price, type of unit and a 10 YEAR WARRANTY. He acknowledged they put in the unit, that was their paperwork but Buttermark would not be honoring the 10 year warranty. Even though we had been given that warranty by Buttermark at the time of service, we were told "It was ridiculous and must have been written up wrong" and "There is no such thing as a 10 year warranty" When we said this was their written service agreement, and it was dishonest and disreputable not to honor it, he told us don't be ignorant. They were absolutely wonderful we have used them a few times.

He did a great job. However, he had quoted me a price of $145 plus parts to install the faucet. I failed to get a quote on the additional services I requested, and so he really did a job on me on the price. To be fair, his work was well done, or appears to be so far since the job is not even a week old. While the work was good, the price seemed to be exceptionally high. That is the only reason I would not use this provider in the future. I am sure I can find other quality providers to do the same work at a much more reasonalbe price.

They did therir job; the main plumber was kurt, unfriendly, downright rude. The helper or plumber in training was too friendly did not really do much. They used my kitchen cleaning bleaches etc. without asking...very unimpressed. The next time Buttermark had to come ( a few days later), I requested not to have these two plumbwrs. I was told, "oh, I can't help you with that...the owner (Paul) would need to make the decision; he's not in". Receptionist just as rude as the SAME plumber who came... again. I knew that Buttermark was a more expensive plumber than some other area plumbers. At the price they charged; I expect some "people friendly" plumbers. Plus, the fact that I couldn't change the particular indivivdual plumber; I guess I'll go back to Capitol plumbing or look for a new plumber!

Went very well and have had no problems over 2 months after work was done. Realize that other plumbers want to replace section with cast iron (not needed) and charge up to a grand and another wanted to charge $50 just to show up to provide estimate that would be taken off bill IF you gave them job. Considering price and quality work, I will use nobody else in future.

I called the day before the service and spoke with a pleasant, polite person on the phone. I explained the problem that we were experiencing with the heating system. She told me that they were a bit backed up on work but, since I did not consider my problem to be an emergency, we agreed that the firm would send a team between 8am and 1pm the next day. The plumbers were at my door promptly at 8am as agreed. As it turned out, we had been following an incorrect process to bleed the 2-zone heating system. They did it correctly (and educated us for the future) and the heat is now reaching all areas of the house. We were happy with the service and would call them again if we have a plumbing or heating job to be done.

We need some pipes replaced between the first and second floor bathrooms and called this company for an estimate. They flat out refused to come and give us an estimate.

The workers were courtious and worked the entire time. They were very professional and explained any questions I asked.

I had them move the outside faucet from the house that was under my deck. I have a two deck system and he moved the faucet to the front of the deck so I can easily turn on the water.

We called. The receptionisht took our information , address, name, problem. She told us that she would get someone out to us as soon as possible. Within less than 1 hour, the servicemen were at our door. They were pleasant and very professional. They knew exactly what had to be done and went immediately to doing it. They answered all of our questions concerning the backup. We could not have been more pleased with the service they provided. Thank you Angie's List!

I used another large plumbing company on the island to replace my boiler and water heater when I purchased my home in 2007. Mr. Buttermark ( yes, the owner ) came and looked at my water heater. He showed me how to clean and service the lint filter on my water heater. He cleaned the filter, reignited the heater, and then showed me how to properly maintain my water heater. He was done in less then 10 minutes. Mr. Buttermark asked me the name of the company that installed the unit. He felt that the other company's installers should have taken the time to show me how to maintain and routinely service my water heater. Mr. Buttermark was so upset by the lack of simple customer support that I had received from the other pluming company, he didn't charge me. I need to say this again, Mr. Buttermark did not charge me for his service call. Mr. Buttermark was a pleasure to meet and learn from. I can not recommend Louis L. Buttermark highly enough!

Very quick and painless. I called and had a REAL person answer the phone (first think I loved about the company). She sent me to the dispatcher who also answered promptly. The dispatcher said she would have to call me back in a few minutes as she would need to check to see if anyone was available to come and check out my problem. She called back within 10 minutes to let me know that someone would be coming to the house and quot;as soon as possibleand quot; and that I should be certain to be home. She also let me know that they would require a $135.00 fee and $135.00 per hour if the call lasted over an hour. The plumber arrived within the hour, diagnosed the problem and fixed it with materials he had on hand. I believe it was a leaking air valve, but not being a plumber myself, I'm not positive. My total cost was $175.00 which isn't bad for emergency service on the day leading up to a major storm. I appreciated the prompt service VERY much.

He was supposed to be good but he pulled a fast trick that I did not appreciate. He was supposed to install a new water heater. The men brought me one but that was banged up! And when I told them that I wanted them to replace it, because if I were to sell my house nobody would want to buy it, but the owner was upping the price! The workers were very nice but it was the owner that I resented, he was trying to trick me! I can't complain about the workers. I had them another time and they couldn't fix my furnace and they called somebody else then. They really damaged my furnace badly.

He did a great job and gave me some excellent advice.

My boiler and water heater got ruined in Hurricane Sandy. Paul came by to give me and estimate. I was very comfortable with him right from the start. I found him to be professional, very courteous and totally knowledgeable. And when he gave me an estimate that was VERY fair and well below everyone else - so I hired him right away! He got in to do the job within a week and they finished everything in one day. I found Paul to be an absolute pleasure to work with and just a really nice person overall. I would use them again in a heartbeat and I recommend Buttermark highly.

They were prompt, courteous, and did what they had to do. They can be a little pricey, but the work was done well. I didn't go to anyone else for pricing so they may be okay! They didn't give me any problems and the job was done well!

Have a significant problem with the plumbing in the house and in the street leading to the house. So, I need inside and outside plumbers. Two very nice guys from Buttermark came and assessed the situation in about 10 minutes. They charged me $135 and then told me i'd have to contact the DEP for help with determining the problem with the water main leading from the street. They said they did not dig up the street and this was confirmed with a call to Paul at the office. So....next, I drove to 60 Bay st. and met with the DEP to try and solve the problem. It's here where I learned this is EXACTLY what plumbers do, they pull permits, dig up the street and fix the problem. It's a complicated job, but one that true professionals can handle. So, I wasted several phone calls, $135, and several hours only to ultimately determine that Buttermark gave me incorrect information. I called and talked to Paul and he said he'd get back to me. He did not. So, I called and declined their services. My next call was to Liquroi Plumbing. They came out right away (for free), told me exactly what they had to do and then I scheduled the job. That's what I'm talking about...service, expertise. Nick

This is actually the 2nd time this company has worked in our home. They were punctual, one person worked on removing the old toilet while the other got supplies that were needed to install the new one. They were done quickly, everything worked well, and they removed the old toilet from the premises.
