Joe was prompt to respond to my initial inquiry and he remained responsive throughout the whole process. If something was promised it was delivered as discussed and on time. Joe's estimate was detailed and all costs were discussed up front and put into writing thus avoiding any ambiguity. Joe's crew cleaned up at the end of each day further setting a professional environment. In the end Joe and his crew put on a quality roof and great looking new chimney. Joseph Ashley was the first roofing company I contacted to come give me a quote on my roofing job, mainly because of the great reviews they received on Angie's List.  I also contacted 7 other roofing companies to come give me a quote as well.  As hard as this is to believe, several companies actually told me that they were "scared" of my job.  The main house is approx. 3,000 square feet of roof with different levels and multiple dormers, as well as a 2.5 car garage.  This was, in fact, a big job but Joe Santillo was confident and accommodating from our very first meeting.  He explained the entire process, told me all about the materials he would be using, and even directed me to the GAF website so that I could read up on it myself.  He assured me that roofing was not just about making sure that there were no leaks, but to reflect the beauty and class of the house in the way it deserved.  When they started, Joe's men always showed up on time and there were always at least 8 men on the job at all times.  Even while they were doing the job we got hit with a pretty bad rain storm that dropped 3 inches of rain in my area.  Not a single leak or drop in the house, and they were still in the middle of the job!  I also requested black gutters to match the shingles I chose, and Joe was able to accommodate that beautifully.  In the end, the job was done perfectly and the roof looks amazing.  Even my father-in-law (who owned his own roofing company) said what a beautiful job Joseph Ashley had done.  Joe was confident in his work and end the end it was easy to see why.  If you are looking for someone to install a new roof that will not only be leak free, but sparkle with beauty as well, you found your guy.

Joseph takes pride in what he does. This was evident by him constantly recommending that we see the examples of his work in the neighborhood. The work was efficiently conducted by an army of technicians and the clean-up was well-done. There was an issue with one aspect of the gutters and when pointed out was resolved quickly.

The work started later than originally planned due to weather affecting the previous commitments by the company but Joseph ( the owner ) kept me informed of the progress, so I knew ahead of time when they were going to start and was able to arrange to work from home on those days.  Crew were very well supervised and very professional, the whole job site was kept clean and they worked very hard and were very careful not to damage anything.  Joseph and the crew supervisor kept me informed of the progress and when a small issue arose, Joseph was very professional and corrected the issue at his expense.   This is very rare nowadays.  I am extremely happy with the results and the quality of work.  It's better now than it ever was and I expect many years of leak free operation from the roof.  Joseph suggested light color for the roof cover, to reflect sunlight and keep the house cooler in the summer and it works great!  After hot days, the upstairs rooms are much cooler than before.
After seeing the work done, my neighbors contracted ACJ to do their roof and they are happy as well.

There was a delay in starting the work because of previous commitments on ACJ's part and, of course, bad weather. This was frustrating but had been explained to me up front and agreed upon. When my turn came, a very smooth, well practiced system went into operation. The crew showed up and unloaded their equipment, followed by the delivery of the roofing materials and that followed by a dumpster for the refuse. I expected work to start on the house first but they started on the garage. Later, I remembered that the weather forecast for that day and the one following was possible showers. Starting on the garage was the right move. The working team varied from seven to nine members for two weeks. Watching as work progressed professionally was a pleasure. Areas where the old roofing was being stripped off were covered or shielded to prevent damage from falling debris. Worker safety was not neglected. Cleanup was done as needed during working hours and totally at quitting time. Any questions I had were answered. Part of the job was to replace an existing roof vent and a roof fan. The crew was very cooperative in the placement and connection of these units. New gutters and leaders were part of the job, including gutter guards. Over all, a very good job.

Company owner explained what we needed done and crew was well supervised.  Price was fair.  Excellent all around.

First, Joseph, the president of the company, was prompt, always returned my calls and was as honest a contractor as I can imagine. When I agreed on an option, we serb a time frame for the work to get done, and he followed through. His crew came on the appointed day, and worked hard, cleaning up after themselves. The second day was just the same--they were fast, efficient, and friendly.
He may not have been the cheapest that I talked to, but ACJ was pretty close. He may not have been able to start immediately, but he was able to set a schedule and lived up to it. When I had to call him, he always made it a point to return my calls promptly. On those points alone, ACJ ranks far above most. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better contractor, a better experience, and I just liked him personally. I would definitely recommend him.

I called company late Fri afternoon. Was told I would receive call back on Monday. I called back late Monday and was told the owner would go look at the house roof in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning to provide an estimate. Wed I called and left a message. Friday I called back and the owner told me he was so busy with current local work that he really didn't have time for mine (I the owner live out of state) since I was far away. I wished he would have told me that up front and saved me a week of phone calls. Disappointed since he had great reviews.

I had a vision for my house which Joe Santillo and his crew made a reality.  In fact, the end result exceeded my expectations.   There aren't enough adjectives to describe the amazing transformation of my home and Joe and his crew's work ethic.  Joe is passionate about his work; his heart is in it.  He strives to make his customer happy and completely satisfied.  His aim is to deliver what you want with perfection.  Moreover, he is pleasantly responsive to  all calls and visits the site often.  I initially met with Joe and another Angie's List contractor in 2012 seeking estimates.   He displayed a passion for his work which impressed me, and I called him back in  the Fall of 2013.  After deciding to engage him, I told an old friend about Joe, who, unbeknownst to me, had previously been Joe's customer.  He praised Joe's work on his roof and on roofing and siding projects for several neighbors.  I  knew then that I had made the right decision to hire the person who had genuinely expressed the desire to deliver what I wanted.   I entered the contract that December and due the weather, work began at the end of April 2014.  
 Joe's has an incredible crew.  Like Joe, they are perfectionists who amazed  me daily by their individual ability to do everything and to do it well.  The crew were punctual, responsive and aimed to please.   They were gentlemen and gladly assisted with my disabled husband's exiting and entering the house in the midst of their work , even when it was disruptive,  requiring them to move equipment and supplies.  Also, I have to praise Joe's painter who spent weeks painstakingly stripping a  porch floor,  4 large Doric columns, and around the entry door by hand and subsequently painted them with perfection.  
I have received several compliments on the transformation of my home, including my neighbor who commented that  the house never look this beautiful in the 67 years of her residing next door.

We live in one of those small, 1950's, mostly brick bungalow-style homes prevalent all over the Island and wanted to replace the old, original aluminum siding on the upper gable peaks. We called Joe for an estimate because of his positive reviews on Angie's List. We have had good experience with Angie's List referrals in the past. I immediately liked the way he promptly returned my call and made arrangements to come look at my house, not typical of most contractors today. He was very easy to talk with and his experience was evident from the good advice he gave regarding the siding selections. We thought the estimate was very fair and reasonable so we signed on.  We are extremely satisfied with the results.  Neighbors and friends have complimented on how nice the house looks.  The transformation was amazing and largely due to the very high quality of work done by his crew. Their professionalism was immediately apparent in the way they quickly but skillfully worked and completed the job in just 2 days.  Both inside and outside, the job was expertly and beautifully done.  They were also careful and courteous not to damage the landscaping and cleaned up nicely after they were finished.  This is a top notch company deserving of all the accolades it has received on Angie's List.

Accommodated us to do this job before the summer as we were going away. His men were here on time and worked neatly and professionally for three days. After the cleanup it looked like no one had been here, neat, clean, landscaping in tact. The chimney looks brand new and hopefully will be waterproof, resolving our original problem.

One of the most scary things a homeowner has to do is hire a contractor.  Every story and fear comes to mind. WORRY NOT with Joseph Ashley and his team.  Coming from a family of roofers and contractors ourselves we are knowledgeable in the field and this crew was one of the best we have worked with. Joe is honest and well versed in all levels of construction and will go over every detail with you.  The team of men are skilled, professional and polite.  If a person gives you a lower bid Don't ask Joe why....ask the other guy how they are doing it for less and you will see that you may not be comparing apples to apples.  The materials used were all top notch.  All big jobs will run into issues but Joe goes out of his way to correct anything that may come up.  Always on time. Always giving you more then you are expecting and honest. No we are not related.  Hire Mr. Ashley and you will not have to worry.  We will hire ACJ again for any home improvements we may need.  If there is a wait do it.  All good things come to those who wait.  Oh yea... Ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts in the afternoon seems to be a crew favorite.  These men work hard for you. I live in Montana.  My brother's house in Richmond Hill, Queens was badly in need of a new roof.  I left a message on Joe Santillo's phone before I flew to NY.  He returned the call to my phone in Montana and to the two numbers in New York where I could be reached. The entire experience was good.  Joe Santillo knows his business.  His crew is large, competent and hard-working.    The new roof, soffits and gutters are beautiful to see.  People in the neighborhood stop by express their approval of the positive transformation.   I would recommend ACJ Remodeling - Joseph Ashley to anyone.  I intend to contract  them next year for another house in need of a transformation.

This contractor Joseph Ashley was very easy to work with and very responsive. He was quick to respond to my initial call and it was easy to set up a date to get an estimate for the job and to do the work. 
It was a very old roof and the crew removed all of the old shingles down to the wood, replacing wood as needed. Then the crew replaced the roof with a new one and also put up new gutters and leaders.
Joseph's team works very hard and all of the men were polite and respectful. They arrived on time and completed the
work as agreed. Unlike some contractors who pick up day laborers, the guys on Joseph's crew work with him regularly and it shows in how they relate to each other and how he communicates with them. They know what they are doing.

Joe was a pleasure from the very start. He was the second of three bids. I chose him from Angie's list. When I called to set up initial appointment we made a date and time. He called to tell us he was on his way. He was on time as promised. He took time with us, explained all the GAF products. We were unsure of the ridge vent, so he spent even more time explaining the product so that we clearly understood, so that we would be able to make an informed decision. We reviewed each of the bids and decided to go with Joe. We signed the contract in January, due to the weather we did the work April 12th,2014. The day was beautiful and warm. Joe called and let us know what to expect. The dumpster was delivered Saturday at 6:30 am. The crew showed up at 8. They were amazing!!!! Angel was the Forman. His crew worked well together, efficient , coordinated and clean. Joe came by to check on the job. They finished at 4:45pm.

I am very happy with the entire process from beginning to end. I have to thank Joe and his crew for a job very well done!!

siding and installing new stone on the lower level. The work was completed in little over a week. I recently had work done by ACJ Remodling -Joseph Ashley (siding, stucco, windows, entry doors, storm doors and a portico installed). This was a big job and something I waited a long time to do. Needless to say, I wanted to find the right contractor - someone who knew what he was doing and who would listen to my ideas. From the moment I met with Joe, his professionalism, his knowledge and love for his profession was evident. His main goal was to do a great job and make me happy as well. Which he did---I am EXTREMELY happy with his work! I just love my "doll house"; as my husband has named our home"Debbie's little doll house". From day one; until the job was completed, Joe was there every morning and again late afternoon, making sure everything was done corrrectly and going as planned.
