Joe was a pleasure from the very start. He was the second of three bids. I chose him from Angie's list. When I called to set up initial appointment we made a date and time. He called to tell us he was on his way. He was on time as promised. He took time with us, explained all the GAF products. We were unsure of the ridge vent, so he spent even more time explaining the product so that we clearly understood, so that we would be able to make an informed decision. We reviewed each of the bids and decided to go with Joe. We signed the contract in January, due to the weather we did the work April 12th,2014. The day was beautiful and warm. Joe called and let us know what to expect. The dumpster was delivered Saturday at 6:30 am. The crew showed up at 8. They were amazing!!!! Angel was the Forman. His crew worked well together, efficient , coordinated and clean. Joe came by to check on the job. They finished at 4:45pm. I am very happy with the entire process from beginning to end. I have to thank Joe and his crew for a job very well done!!

Joe was easy to get in touch with and always called me back promptly. He gave me an honest assessment of what I needed and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. The price for the work was fair. His crew showed up when he said they would and did a great job, even reattaching some siding that had come off the house. All very professional. Pleasure to deal with. When I need a roof in the future, I will call Joe.

I have a very old house that was badly neglected and in need of major repair. I talked with Joe about the work I wanted done and exchanged ideas on ways to achieve it Joe and his crew showed up as scheduled and got right to work. They worked every day that the weather allowed All work was done in a very professional manner. Since it was such a big job I was nervous and apprehensive. Joe kept telling me it would be alright and it would be beautiful when it was done. He was so right . My new home is beautiful!! People stop on the street to tell me how beautiful my home looks now. My neighbors can't believe how well it came out. One neighbor came back from vacation and thought she was in the wrong neighborhood... true story!

My new roof is beautiful. Joe and his crew are not only courteous and professional but highly skilled craftsmen. The roof shingles line up perfectly. He met us with his license/ photo card in his hand. He explained everything well including my serious concerns about insurance/licensing. The crew arrived early, worked continuously and cleaned up meticulously. Joe takes great pride in this business he built. His price was perfectly fair. I am so glad I hired him. I recently had work done to the front of our house.The remodeling consists of new siding and installing new stone on the lower level. The work was completed in little over a week. Mr. Joseph Santillo was a great find, he's a professional in every way possible. His crew arrived on time every day and did excellent work from start to finish. Find a contractor if difficult at best. Joe, made the process easy. When the job was completed it was exactly as I hoped for. Thank you Joe for a job well done. The whole process went as planned, other than weather delays the job was completed in a few days. I highly recommend Joseph Ashley to everyone who are about to choose a contractor. Joseph is a true professional and a knowledgeable as they come. Before choosing a contractor you must give Joseph Ashely a call. I would definitely trust hin again on my next project. I recently had work done by ACJ Remodling -Joseph Ashley (siding, stucco, windows, entry doors, storm doors and a portico installed). This was a big job and something I waited a long time to do. Needless to say, I wanted to find the right contractor - someone who knew what he was doing and who would listen to my ideas. From the moment I met with Joe, his professionalism, his knowledge and love for his profession was evident. His main goal was to do a great job and make me happy as well. Which he did---I am EXTREMELY happy with his work! I just love my "doll house"; as my husband has named our home"Debbie's little doll house". From day one; until the job was completed, Joe was there every morning and again late afternoon, making sure everything was done corrrectly and going as planned. Always making sure I was happy with everything. His crew were extremely professional, courteous, and always on time. When the job was completed, it was exactly how I envisioned my home to look! Would I use Joe Ashley again or recommend him to family and friends? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!

me & contact of anBecause he was unable to do the job (due it being small & it would almost cost more for him to drive to eastern queens from staten isl than to do the job itself); he gave me the contact of a different contractor in my area. The contractors I had before him just never called me back. While he didn't do the job, I definitely had a very good experience in dealing with him, and would love to give him a job in the future.

The crew were very professional and efficient. Joe was a pleasure to work with. Any concerns and questions I did have were quickly answered or explained to me by Joe. The project turned out great. I'm so glad I picked Joe's company and I strongly recommend them to anyone else.

He is a fantastic gentleman. I am probably going to proceed with my work with this gentleman, I am waiting for a refinancing. The price he gave me was very fair. His gentleman were prompt, they called me when they were stuck in traffic and would be late. They were very professional, they went over everything in detail, they were accountable, and they also refered to Angie's List. It was a good experience, because I have been in construction for a long time, and I trusted them. I had some others also show up, but I would not go with them.

First I want to apologize to Mr. Ashley for no writing this review sooner. After interviewing several roofers/roofing companies I met with Mr. Ashley. I was initially impressed because of all the people who came to look at the job, Mr. Ashley was the only one who asked to go into my attic to see what was really going on with my roof. Mr. Ashley and his crew were professional, punctual, courteous and finished the job in about 3 days. Since doing the job, I have referred several neighbors to Mr. Ashley and I have had no problems with my roof. I would DEFINITLEY use Mr. Ashley's services again.

Lost the siding on one side of the house after the superstorm Sandy. Called 5 or 6 vendors and got a wide variety of prices. Joe was one of the most reasonable and we appreciated his explanation of exactly what his employees would be doing. Everything he said they would do was done and we really did not have to have them come back for anything. They were all very profession, knowledgable and personable for the week they were working at the house. We would highly recommended them to anyone who needed siding work done on their house.

Extremely professional. Large crew of workers who were all very competent. They began the job and did not leave until it was finished. Joe and every worker were very responsive to our requests and our concerns. The finished product is beautiful. They did a great job.

The whole process went very smoothly. The first day, the team removed the entire roof, replaced all wood and insulation and replaced with the insulation and new roofing IN ONE DAY! I was amazed that it could be done so fast. The second day the team came to repair some siding that got ripped off by wires being pulled down by a truck! The team did this very fast and efficiently, it looks great! The second day was also for the removal and replacing of all the gutters around the house, and also the Chimney was repaired and stucco on the outside, in a nice color (grey) to match the new roof tiles. After all, I am very happy and pleased with the service and the crews who came to work on the house. All debris was removed totally both days, you would never know the entire roof was removed! I am very pleased with the outcome and everyone I worked with to get this done was very nice and professional! Thank you all!

Joseph Ashley and his workers were able to remove our old roof and put up a brand new roof for us in just 10 days. I was very impressed by his work and how efficient he was in completing his work. The job was done in 10 days just as he promised. We have a 3 family house and haven't fixed our roof since we purchased this house 36 years ago. They also threw in a free chimney for us because their start date was off by a few days because of the bad weather. I thought that was very thoughtful. They are hard workers who stick to their words. I would definitely trust them again when doing any other jobs around the house. I highly reccommend Joseph Ashley to everyone including my close friends and family. Thanks for a great job!

I contacted Joe in June. He said he would be able to do the job around the end of August. He actually started September 13. This was OK with me. I had wanted proof of insurance, which he sent me. I contacted the insurance company, which verified that the insurance was valid. This was a concern for me, as the height of the building makes for a dangerous work condition and I didn't want any problems or injuries to the workers. The guys were strapped in while working on the scaffolding, and there were no injuries. Eight guys worked for 10 days, the last day until 7:00 PM. The guys were all nice. They started every morning by 8:30 AM and worked until 5:00 PM. I have a Bay window, and while painting the top of thebuilding some drops of paint fell on the new roof that was installed on the Bay window. Joe had the roof removed and redone. I had given Joe a $7.000. deposit, half-way through I gave him another $7,000, and the rest on the last day. There was no pressure on his part. Over all I am very happy with the results: I got what I asked for and there were no hassles of any kind. I need to do some steps and some stucco work and will hire him if he is available

We waited over 20 years to have siding put on our house but we finally did it. All I can say is "what were we waiting for?" Joe was very personable and respectful of myself and my husband. He outlined all our options and patiently explained all the different types of insulation and siding. He had a professional looking portfolio of work he had done on similar houses and we could see what it would look like. He helped us make design decisions, e.g. did we want shutters or not. When his crew arrived, they were wonderful. Extremely professional, polite and hardworking. They arrived early in the morning and most evenings worked until 8 pm when it got too dark. They tidied up every day. At the end of the job the area looked spotless. Our neighbors were pleased :) The work was completed in about a week. We did not have any problems with the workers, they did their jobs very well. Our neighbors have all admired the house and said how wonderful it looks. I feel so happy every time I pull up in front of my house and see how beautiful it looks. Thanks Joe and crew for a job well done, and I would be happy to recommend this company to anyone.

I called Joseph Ashley in the spring to schedule a siding/window replacement job. He gave me a very competitive price and we scheduled the job for mid to late July. The job was delayed several weeks due to the weather, rain had backed him up on some earlier jobs. Joseph promised me that the job would be completed before Labor Day and it was. He did a great job and his team was thorough and paid a lot of attention to detail. They cleaned everything up and removed all debris. I would certainly recommend Joseph Ashley to anyone. I am very happy with the work and love the look of my house.

They did a better job than I expected! I am very satisfied with the work that was done! Everything that they have done looks fine. The contractor was very knowledgable. The workers were very professional and friendly. They cleaned up as they went. They did a great job! They even vacuumed the house for us! I would recommend their services!

The work turned out good just as expected. The job was completed in one day. I was very satisfied with the job and the time it took to get done. I most likely would hire other Angie’s List professionals in future.

Joe is a professional who obviously loved his work. He done a very professional job for us, and we are very happy with the quality of the materials and the job that he had done. The new roofing is a bit like trading a Toyota for a Mercedes. He has done all that is within his power to help and satisfy our wants and needs, even those he is not in complete agreement, and we appreciated his efforts. He returned our calls, even on a Labor Day afternoon, when it is a national hoilday, when we encountered a problem, he send over his men to help and take responsibilities. We have no doubt that he will honor his words and will stand behind his works (of which he is very proud of) in the future. I called to schedule an appointment on May 25, 2013 for an estimate, spoke to Joe Santilo. His initial attitude and sentences were like "so you know all about us, we are good". I knew he was referring to all the positive reviews from Angie's List but honestly I don't think I "knew" all about them because I had never used them before, and I had not been referred to them by anyone. When I met with him on June 1, 2013, he had the same attitude again. I didn't care or mind but felt a bit uncomfortable with that. What happened later was totally disappointing -- our situation was that we had two layers of shingles on our roof, we wanted to tear off all the shingles and put up new shingles. There is no leaking on the roof, but the existing shingles were old and torn, and some of them came off after Sandy. During the whole time I did not say I wanted to do anything else. However, Joe started to criticize how bad the condition our house was -- he said we needed to redo the chimney because top part of the chimney, about 3 feet from the top, where there was no siding covering the bricks, showed some cracks. I said there was no leaking on the chimney or the roof, I didn't want to do the chimney at this time, but he insisted and said he would not warranty the roof if the chimney was not done. He gave me an estimate of $16,500 for the roof and repairing the chimney. I repeatedly said I didn't want to do the chimney. He said he would refuse the job if I didn't do it. I asked what the estimate was just for the roof, excluding the chimney, he gave me $16,000. Basically he just wanted to force me to do the chimney. In addition, he said he would replace all the gutters and leaders. I told him, and also it was quite obvious that, one of our leaders was new and was just installed last year. I asked why replaced the new one. He said it was because it was not customized, it was not a one-piece but two pieces joined together therefore it was not good, so it had to be replaced. Moreover, besides the chimney, gutter and leaders, he said my siding didn't look good. He pointed to my neighbors' houses that they had nice sidings, I should do the same. At that point, I sensed that he probably wanted to me to do siding too. At the end, he even said "your house needs a lot of work, some contractors don't even want to do your job. If you want to use us, you had to wait till August". Then he said he had to go because he parked his truck at the fire hydrant. At that point, I just wanted to him to leave. He's a greedy man, I will never use him and will tell anyone I know not to use him. He probably thought I was a young woman and didn't know anything about roofing, so he gave all that attitude and told me I needed to do this or that. Also perhaps some racial discrimination too because I am Asian. As a matter of fact, I had over 10 contractors over for the estimate, I did enough research to know about what drip edges are, what kind of felt paper to use, what kind of board to use when replacement was needed, etc. We finally just had our roof done in August, using someone that my friend recommended. The contractor was a big contrast to Joe -- he never forced me to do anything, gave honest opinion, fixed things because it was the right thing to do, not because he could charge more. So far I'm quite happy. I have to say given my bad experience with Joe, I don't understand how he could get all the good reviews. I also have doubts about reviews on Angie's List.

The whole house looked wonderful, He put shutters on the front of the house even though we forgot to mention them when we met him before the job. Joe was very polite, friendly and trustworthy!
