L Richards Plumbing was a great company to work with. They were the second out of three companies we consulted for the job. Our decision was made based on Gale who provided me with great customer service by answering my questions and concerns with such professionalism and patience. She had someone at our house within the hour to assess the situation at hand. That, someone, was Kenny. He assessed the situation and advised us that someone will contact us with a price. I honestly thought the leaks we had from our bathroom through the kitchen ceiling (already made holes in our ceiling) were going to cost us both our arms and legs. Gale called us back with a very reasonable and fair price for the work to be done. Which was to find the leaks, repair them and replace both our toilet and vanity. We agreed on the set price and scheduled for work to start the next day. Kenny showed up bright and early and on time with a mask on. He wore it at all times. He did all the purchases of materials needed, breakdown, repairs, and installations. What I was most worried about was the mess that I would have to deal with afterward. There was nothing much for us to do but to sweep a second time, wipe down, and mop because he cleaned up after himself, took out all the garbage, and took everything with him. That's including the old toilet and vanity plus the boxes the new ones came in. We were so impressed by that because the other companies told us we would be responsible for all of that. After the work was done, he advised us to call in immediately if we saw or heard any leaks. The only call I had to make was a "Thank you" one. I don't know about anyone else but from beginning to the end it was an amazing experience and a job very well done! We highly recommend their services to all and anyone we know! Thank you very much Gale and Kenny at L Richards Plumbing & Heating! If we ever need you again we will definitely give you a call.

Description of Work: Years ago we used this plumbing company so we decided to try them again. Before they were referred to us through NHSJ. And they were good then, prompt, professional, and they returned calls and kept appointments. We were surprised and disappointed when we were assured three times that they would call us back to set up an appointment. We are still waiting for the call back. For us this is an indication that things have changed and not necessarily for the best. If you do not want to deal with mere homeowners that is okay because there is more money dealing with companies etc. but at least respect us enough to call us back and let us know. They did not have to work for us on our project but they could have maintained good relations by simply calling us back and saying.

I purchased, from Home Depot, an Ashfield F-M42-YPKK water spout type of bathroom faucet (made by Pfister) and needed it installed (along with the vanity). After the installation, It has almost no hot water coming out and just barely more cold. In the middle position it has the most water flow and that is not adequate to wash your hands. When I asked the person who installed it, "what can be done to fix this problem?" He told me "... the faucet I purchased was a - low pressure faucet - and that I would need to purchase a different kind of faucet to get the flow I previously had." Although, the job looked great, as he cleaned up after himself (i.e., removed the old fixtures, etc...) I was not happy; but after our discussions I was convinced that I purchased the wrong faucet; so a few days later I looked the faucet up on the internet to see if anyone else experienced similar problems and found there were a few people who asked Dr. Fixya.com about the same faucet - and the response was as follows: According to Doctor Fixya.com - "My best guess is that debris from your water system has gotten into the faucet and is restricting the flow. This is a very common occurrence when replacing a faucet in an existing system. One very important step that most people overlook is to flush the lines before hooking them to the new faucet. I am assuming that you have stops on the water supply beneath the sink, and if you did not replace the connecting lines from the stops to the faucet, you should do that now and I recommend the new flexible lines. Simply hook up the new flexible lines to the stops and direct the other end into a container and slowly turn on the stop to run water through and flush out any remaining debris that may be floating around in the system. This is especially critical for the hot water line, it is the usual culprit. Make doubly sure plenty of water is passing through these lines because the clog could also be in the stop itself. With this type of faucet, you may have to remove it from the counter to unclog it, but if you have compressed air available, with the supply lines removed from the faucet, simply turn the faucet on to the center wide open position and blow air backward through the faucet and chances are good that the clog will dislodge. Then re-install the faucet, hook up the lines and you should be back in business. If after doing this the flow is still restricted, either it is still clogged or you may actually have a defective unit. In that case, contact Price Pfister customer service, their number should be located in the instruction sheet. They are excellent in standing behind their products. After all the money I paid for this service, I would have thought the installer would have told me what Fixya.com was telling the others who reported a similar problem. Also, note there was nothing on the box indicating it was a "low pressure" faucet. I contacted my brother-in-law who knows about these things (and he said he had never heard of a low pressure faucet) and said it was probably defective so we exchanged it, bled the lines (there was a lot of air in the line); and, now everything works fine... I would have asked my brother-in-law to do it first but he was out of town. When someone charges what I consider a high price for a simple service, I hold them to a higher standard... and from this company (and the prices they charged), I expect more.

Response from L Richards Plumbing and Heating Inc
Customer did not contact our office to make a formal complaint about the quality of service received. Also, If you are buying plumbing products from home improvement centers such as Home Depot or Lowes, you have a choice of the quality of products you buy; ranging from the less expensive (lower quality), to expensive (high quality) products. However, buying from plumbing supply houses like Blackman or Davidson Warsaw that sale the highest quality plumbing products are the smart decision.

This company was recommended by a co-worker. I previously used them to diagnose a problem in my home, for that job they had to use a camera to diagnose the problem, I was satisfied with their work and so when i needed a company for a major task I just went to a familiar place.

My gas heating unit would not turn on in the beginning of the season. It is a steam system. No matter what I did I could not get the pilot ignited. The technician came on time and diagnosed the problem right away. He worked quickly and was very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and am very satisfied with the service.

Everything was done as stated in the estimate. Experienced and knowledgeable crew arrived and worked on time. Project took several days in coordination with the city. Everything went as smoothly, no surprises, completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Changed the old lead water main coming into the house with new copper pipe. Dug holes in the yard as well as street in order to remove old pipe and install new to connect to city's water main, repatched and cleaned up afterwards. Also, flushed out the hot water heating system because part of the house was not getting heat in the winter.
