We were told that he could build our home in 180 days, it took 11 months. We encountered problem after problem during the process. We were delivered a home with very shoddy workmanship. At the final walk through there were 3 pages of items to be fixed or repaired, to this day we have been left with scratched windows, none of the entry way doors have been set, hot and cold reversed on the whirlpool tub, carpet that has huge ripples as it wasn't installed properly, painting that looks horrible, ( the painter was painting in the house when it was 38 degrees out with no heat in the house ) the area over the plant shelf in the master bath wasn't finished being framed, so it was never dry walled, told JR that you could see the trusses and insulation for the roof. His reply was that since you couldn't see it why finish it. This was a major source of heat loss, and this is suppose to be an energy star home. Upon receiving the final invoice from Allison homes we noticed that the interest for the construction loan was $27,477.33 when we were quoted that it would be $12,000.00. We told him that this was a deal breaker and we would let the courts handle the issue. The amount went back to $12,000.00. There are items that we never received that were in our contract as smoke detector in garage, 2 fire extinguishers, splashes for the gutter down spouts. There are wooden platforms at all the entryways on the porch as the porch was poured too low, looks real nice for the price we paid for this house. A 12 month walk through was requested ... well Donna said that the paper work would be mailed to us, hmm we never received it. We reported him to the BBB and he told them that we expect above and beyond the normal. We had repairs done on the ceramic tile in the bathrooms, the guy replaced the wrong tiles and broke tiles that were left as is and even removed them never to be replaced and when he left said that he wouldn't be back. Phone calls were either never returned or it took forever to hear back from him. There are several issues that are too lengthy to go into. Our poor Realtor was never compensated for all the work he did. I would not recommend this guy to anyone.

There were elements of the experience that were quite good, and some that were very difficult. It is also difficult to evaluate in that Allison Homes has now separated from the construction company that did some of the work and we have ongoing problems resulting from that initial joint venture. It's hard to know now who is responsible for which problems. The house seems to be very well constructed, but follow-up attention to detail and finish work has been lacking. Four months after moving in we're still trying to track them down to finish our driveway, and we only finally had our lawn put in about a month ago. However, the house seems to be extremely well constructed in all the important ways. In comparison with friends who had new construction done by other companies, our experience seems to be more positive all around.
