I hired Jack Anthony in 2002 to rebuild my gunite pool which had a crack in one wall and tiles falling off. Jack Anthony also told me my main drain was broken and couldn't be repaired. Not knowing anything about inground gunite pools, I stupidly hired Jack Anthony to perform the renovation. Within a couple of years I began to lose water at an alarming rate. I had to purchase an automatic pool filler to keep up with the loss. Finally, 18 years later, I hired a pool company to renovate the pool once again. I discovered that the water loss was because of faulty workmanship around the skimmers -- there were gaps between the skimmers and the beam of the pool. All Jack Anthony did was shove a little cement around the skimmers, which eventually fell out. The new company told me that I was losing water at all three skimmers and that Jack Anthony had done substandard work. The new company completely replaced the beam around the entire pool using rebar, installed new skimmers and used forms for the cement around them so there would be no gaps to leak, and they constantly measured and leveled everything they did. For example, the skimmers Jack Anthony installed were not all at the same level -- two were at one level and one was at a different level, making it difficult to maintain proper skimmer operation. Also, the cement debris that Jack Anthony left in the skimmers made the skimmer doors jam. And, much to my surprise, the new company quickly and easily repaired my main drain and replaced it with a new one. So for 18 years I didn't have a main drain when I actually could have. Thank you, Jack Anthony. I can't tell you how annoyed I became after finding out that Jack Anthony did such a shoddy job. And if you think I'm kidding, I have photos from 2002 that show the poor workmanship. I only wish that I had more knowledge about pools at that time. If I had, I would have sued them when I had the chance. Damned statute of limitations. Maybe they should rename their business Jack A-Hole. Don't make the same mistake that I made.

Problems from the start. I scheduled a home appt to review a pool remodel. First appointment was a no show - They completely missed appt despite me telling them i was taking the day off . assistant didnt book it properly in system i was told. Second appt they made and they (Lance) actually had good ideas. I was hopeful but boy was i wrong. Its is approaching 2 months and still no estimate despite their promise to get one 3 days after home appt. Called multiple times a week and they apologize and promise estimate is sent or will be by eod and if any issues they will personally call me back. Well guess what .. no estimate and no call back. (Tracy and nicole promise but never deliver... Excuse given is "Jack hasn't been in office and needs to review it". In nearly 2 months!?? Really cmon. Now i have been more than fair in giving them the opportunity to right their wrongs but near 2months of calls/emails going unanswered/returned and still no estimate. I went as so far as to tell them i didnt want to write negative feedback but would if they werent able to send me something in the next week.. well that didnt matter which tells me they dont care. If they are this problematic now how will they be if they got my money. Maybe they are extremely busy but that doesn't excuse poor customer service/lies/bs.. frankly i dont know what to call this behavior. All I know is dealing with them was a complete waste of my time and energy. Pass and move on to another company. They don't seem to want any business or are just plain unorganized. P.S/FYI - this review was originially written for homeadvisor which recommended this company to me . They wont post my review b/c i didnt actually use this company's service . (doesnt matter i never got an estimate and therefore it wasnt possible or that i wasted 2days) Homeadvisor is not a site for accurate feedback. Maybe this company knew that and thought I couldnt post anything about my experience with them but hey ..there is more than one site

Took me a while to finally get another company. Persistent problems. Eg Left jandy control panel open all the time, chlorine on deck and in wrong places; ie not in chlorinator as instructed. Final straw was when I paid them to install a heater I purchased. Didn't work and they barked at me they couldn't fix bc would breech warranty. Turned out they installed temp sensor on spa outflow instead of main inflow...just set up entirely wrong. Simple fix by another pool company.

insisted they had serviced our pool, even though it was unquestionably worse than the last treatment. neighbor complained they were putting chemicals in his pool on several occasions we missed the first four weeks of swimming because of this problem. at a different time, we called because our pool had become so hazy. we were told it was because of dirt coming in from a spot beside the pool . chemicals finally cured the the problem..
Description of Work: frequently did not come, making the pool unusable. on severable occasions, put chemicals in neighbors pool, not ours.

As soon as they knew they had the job (and their first check) things started changing. They became harder and harder to get in touch with. The first major red flag to their shotty service was that they poured the concrete for the patio surrounding the pool while we were away although we had made it VERY clear to them that we had not yet approved the final patio design. This was all done last summer. This year, knowing that they would be busy, I called to schedule our pool opening in February!! We were scheduled to be opened the week of May 10th. I knew they weren't reliable so I called every month to make sure we were really on the schedule and that someone would be here. I should have known better because they refused to send me a confirmation or even a fax! Well, the week of May 10 came and went and no one came. I was calling every day and no one answered my calls until I got one call back from a nice secretary who couldn't tell me anything other than that no one could get to my pool until late JUNE and that next year I should please call earlier. Seriously? I have been calling the vice president Michael Inzerillo, who was also our main contact person throughout the building of the pool. He has not called me back once in person. They assured us that distance would never be a problem because that was one of our greatest concerns about hiring them since they are based in Southampton and we live in Dutchess county. Now we are sitting here with a pool that they say can't be opened until June and if we use someone else they say we forfeit our warranty on the construction.!! What a predicament!? I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!
Description of Work: This company was hired to design, and build a new in-ground, gunite swimming pool. In the beginning they were full of all sorts of promises but as soon as they had the job things started changing.
