Did not over sell and was not pushy. Owner of business on site for entire operation. Really great experience and will use again in future if needed.

I must say I was very impressed with Toms work performance today. First off he was punctual, and upon arrival he got straight work. He proceeded to drill the holes, fill the way drafty ceiling with the superior cellulose that almost immediately made my home feel more comfortable and warm! Tom was the epitome of professionalism and a great personality to boot, made us feel at ease and explained every question we (my paranoid hubby and I) could throw his way! We will definitely be utilizing him again in the future, he was congenial, pleasant, and clean. If you are in need of insulation and do not have a champagne budget then Tom Gonzales is definitely the man to call!

Tom Gonzales insulated our entire attic.My house was built in the 60's, and was way under insulated. It was a big job that was made complicated by the different levels, and various nooks and crannies. His work was letter perfect. He and his crew were very professional and very neat. It was based on this job,that was done over a year ago,that I decided to ask him back to insulate a different section of our house. He is very efficient,and his price represents an excellent value,especially when you consider the quality of his work

I had a very cold dining room that I wanted to insulate. Discount Insulation was the third company I called for an estimate. Tom showed up on time and was far more helpful then the other companies. Both of them said I needed to insulate my attic as well as the dining room and the garage ceiling below.. After looking at my attic Tom said he didn't think it would be cost effective for me unless I addressed some other issues with the entrance to the attic. He also pointed out that my air conditioning vents were a big part of my problem. I have closed or covered all the vents and that alone has made a huge difference. Tom and a helper blew in the cellulose insulation and cleaned up very nicely afterwards. I would definitely use them again. It was a pleasure to work with an honest man. He stopped me from wasting money on my attic and pointed out the problem with my vents before he even had the job.

Tom worked directly with my General Contractor to schedule the date of the insulating since we decided to install it when all the old shingles were off the house and before the new ones went on. Due to changes in the contractor schedule this date changed several time, but Tom was always very flexible and a pleasure to work with. The team of 3 men (including Tom) arrived promptly on the morning of the installation. They were very capable and professional, but also enjoyable to have working around the property while they were here. The project took less than 2 days and went very well. We went with the blown in cellulose material and my home is noticeably warmer as expected, but it is also so much quieter. We live on a fairly busy road and this was a very nice surprise. I have noticed that my heating comes on much less often and house stays warm now. Since the home was built in 1949 there was very little if any insulation in the walls, this improvement has made a significant difference in the comfort level of our home and we are very happy that we had it done. I have already recommended recommend Discount Insulation and Tom Gonzales to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

Great. Tom was pleasant, responsive, flexible, and knowledgable. He doesn't push you into doing more than you need and simply tells it how it is and gives very fair prices for great work. He and his partner arrived right on time and cleaned up nicely afterwards. No complaints and would certainly hire them again.

It was time to increase the R-factor of my attic and I had initially tried to engage Home Depot to do the work. After 3 failed attempts to get an estimate I consulted Angies List and found Tom at Discount Insulation Co. He arrived a few minutes early(!) for our initial consultation and was very thorough in his inspection and explanation of what was needed. On the agreed day of service he arrived on time with a helper and got to work immediately setting up protection on the floors leading to the attic. We discussed what would happen that day and he proceeded to execute the work. When complete, we surveyed the space and I was thoroughly satisfied. He and his helper we quick and efficient in cleaning up on exit. I will happily recommend this contractor to my friends and neighbors.

Top notch work. We are very happy with the results. Mr. Gonzales and his men were timely, efficient and clean. He gave us a very educated assessment of the work we needed to do and came up with innovative ways to insulate tough areas of our house, which was built around 1930. I'm really not sure how we could have had a better experience. Highly recommended!

After calling and scheduling an appointment,Tom Gonzales (Discount Insulation Co.) promptly arrived as scheduled to give me an estimate for attic insulation. After inspecting the existing conditions and measuring,Tom gave me what I thought was a fair estimate (I based this on receiving 2 previous estimates). Having decided to do the removal of the contents of the attic myself, I scheduled the insulation work to be done 2 weeks later. Tom's proposal included removal of the old rock wool insulation as I requested and blow in new cellulose insulation. The job could not have gone any smoother than it did. The removal of the previous 80+ year old insulation was a massive undertaking and an extremely dirty job. Tom and his team did this quickly, quietly and CLEANLY. The installation process was the same, quick, quiet and clean. Although the amount of product to be removed was a bit more than he expected, he honored his original quote. The entire project was completed in one day which also included installing an attic tent to insulate over the folding staircase. The attic and adjoining floor space was swept and vacuumed prior to him and his team leaving the job site. The results, a much warmer house, especially upstairs. I plan to have Tom insulate the exterior walls of the house this year. I would not hesitate to recommend Discount Insulation Co.

We had a sunroom that was a full 15 degrees colder than the adjoining room. Tom came out - on time for his appointment-and quickly assessed the problem - the floor below was not fully insulated and the ceiling to the roof line was totally uninsulated. He suggested cellulose insulation. He called me the next day with a very reasonable quote (less than competition) and said he could do it in the next 3 business days. On the day of the work, he showed up on time, finished in 5 hours and cleaned up completely. He was a pleasure to work with. He showed me pictures of the work that he did and walked me through all the finished product. I highly recommend Tom and his business - they were great!

My overall experience with Tom and his crew was exceptional. Do not be misled by negative reviews! I was very selective when choosing someone to insulate my newly purchased home. I received separate price quotes/approaches from 3 different competitors. I chose Discount Insulation Co and I'm glad I did. Tom visited my home for a thorough inspection and provided me with an estimate via email shortly thereafter. I learned alot from him during his inspection. His approach differed from other approaches in certain aspects, and he provided logical reasoning when I questioned him about it. He has had many years of experience which ultimately was my main selection criteria along with price. He really knows what he's doing. His estimate was very fair for the amount of work that was performed. He and his crew arrived promptly to prepare the house and setup equipment. They were very clean and courteous, and quiet. In fact I enjoyed having them around for the full 2 day job. Tom is very keen on performing the work himself with the help of his crew - it was clear that he takes pride in his work and the end product. We are extremely pleased with the end result ahead of the cold season.

My husband has experience renovating homes. We had already had one company walk thru to discuss our weatherization needs, so I think we expected Tom to take the lead and tell us all the things we should do to tighten and insulate our old house. But we found ourselves doing most of the suggesting (based on the previous company's walk thru) in order to compare apples to apples. He was ready with answers, but I'm still glad I had already had the experience of the previous company so I knew what to ask. I think D.I. is more for basic insulation (blown attic and walls).

Tom did a detailed inspection of the home to identify areas that needed insulation. He stopped by on a Saturday and took his time to inspect the whole house. I really liked the fact that he did not rush the inspection process and was very patient in answering my questions. In a few days, he got back with a written proposal. After I got Tom's proposal, I got a second opinion from another highly rated provider on Angie's list. The other provider suggested a different approach from what Tom had proposed. Tom was open to reviewing the alternative proposal and discussed the pros and cons with me. What I really liked about Tom's approach was he was always conscious about ensuring value to the customer. I decided to go with Tom. We agreed on the doing the following work: 1) Blowing in cellulose insulation into all exterior walls. 2) Insulating the powder room which is an extension to the house and built over a crawl space. 3) Removing the old rock wool insulation from the attic floor and blowing in new cellulose insulation into the attic floor and stairwell. 4) Blowing in cellulose insulation into the garage ceiling. On the scheduled day, Tom arrived on time with his team and got to work right away. His two team members were professional and pleasant and had been working with him for many years. Tom's work ethic is commendable. My attic had rock wool insulation that needed to be removed before Tom could blow in the cellulose. The work involved removing some of the floorboards in the attic and manually removing the old insulation out. It was messy and tough work but Tom and his team took no shortcuts. They spent an entire day just removing the old rock wool the best they could. Tom completed the whole job in 2 1/2 days. He plugged all holes in the exterior walls and neatly replaced the siding. He left my attic looking neater than it originally was. He fixed the floorboard around an exhaust vent in the attic that my previous contractor had left unfinished and also installed a back draft guard to the exhaust. My home is feeling more comfortable and warms up quicker. The attic feels colder than it originally was which means the insulation is doing its work and I'm not wasting energy heating the attic. Overall it was a pleasure working with Tom & his team. Excellent work and highly recommended!

Tom came to our home in the evening, accommodating for our schedule, when both my husband and I would be available. He explained the process and materials he uses knowledgeably and in detail. He then sent us an estimate, which compared to two others we received, was considerably lower. That actually concerned us, because less expensive can also mean poorer quality! So we researched the materials and Tom's references and felt confident to move forward. Once the contract was signed Tom was able to quickly work us into his schedule and arrived precisely when he said he would, working with us and the weather (hurricane Irene blew through in the middle of this project). Tom and his crew were friendly, professional, tidy and best of all, we already can feel a difference in the atmosphere in our home. The temperature in rooms seems to maintain a more even comfort, and rooms that used to have trouble spots of being hotter or colder than other rooms in the house have leveled out. We are very happy with the work performed by Discount INsulation Co.

We have an old house so it has been very cold for a long time. Our home is a lot warmer, he cleaned up like nobody?s business, and he patched up the places where they went in. We got estimates from two people and we decided on these people because they were a little bit cheaper. When he came in, we asked him to do everything from the outside. He said he could do the first floor from the outside but the second floor needed to be from the inside. He promised us that the holes would be repaired and the spots would be painted, and he was exactly right. Maybe an expert could find the spots, but I don't notice where there have been repairs. These guys are highly educated about insulation and they understand the engineering angles. We haven?t been disappointed. They cleaned inside and outside, and the painter was good enough that I would use him again too. Two or three men came in and it took them three or four days so I think the price was very fair. Our heating bills have been less and we are pretty comfortable in our house.

Another good review for Tom Gonzales and his crew. The final price was lower than the proposal because insulation was not needed in on of the walls. Tom brought an electrician to repair an accidentally cut wire. They spent two days on this job and returned for a minor adjustment. The house is much warmer now.

He does nothing but cellulose and if that is what you want, he is your man. His name is Tom. He is efficient. My general contractor used him once after meeting him on my job. He did a good job. The price was fine. It was what I expected because I am an educated customer and it was a good price. He was quite responsive.

It went well. They arrived on time, completed the work within the agreed upon amount of time. Were open to looking at details and did a little extra work at the last minute that we had not discussed beforehand.

Tom and his employees are total professionals and the job went like clockwork. The top floor of our house was very warm in the summer and Tom spent a good deal of time reviewing the requirements and developing a comprehensive proposal. He recommending injecting cellulose insulation into the roof on the third floor, insulating the attic floor, attaching floorboards in the attic, and weatherstripping the crawlspace door. The work took two days and they showed up promptly and cleaned up thoroughly when done. The price was fair and I'm very satisfied with the work.

He was great! They did such a great job. He did some of the work from the inside and some from the outside. He called in some one who was so experienced and talented to patch of paint the holes in the interior walls that you would not even know there was a hole there. It was just perfect! Blowing in insulation can be very messy; he promised me he would clean up and he absolutely did! The change in the warmth of this house is amazing.

My house is a small (24x20) 2-story woodframe house built in 1883. When I moved in, the attic and 2nd floor ceiling were completely insulated and the walls around the kitchen (the back lower quadrant) had enjoyed a 1990s renovation to replace 2 windows -- resulting in a fibreglass insulation in that area of the house. The rest of the walls were not insulated. There was no nogging or sheathing so the walls were thin and didn't hold heat really. The ambient temperature fluctuated markedly. My concern about blow-in insulation was the necessity to create holes in the walls - from the outside, this would look less than ideal. And I was aprehensive about how invasive a job blowing in insulation from the inside would be. Of the many insulating professionals I sought quotes from over the past 2 years, Tom Gonzoles was the most responsive, respectful and flexible in terms of my needs to preserve the integrity of the orignal siding of the house, and perform a low-impact service. Tom's quote was reasonable and patient. Tom provided me with solid references and was generally very understanding and patient whle I deliberated between blow-in from the inside or the outside, and while I solidified my financing. On the day of the job, Tom and 2 associates arrived on time and got started right away. Tom worked alongside his associates - which I believe recommends Tom and his work. He is a professional with almost 30 years in this business and he has respect for the work and sees to it that it is performed correctly, by him and his associates all the while. Tom explained the process thoroughly, discussed the alternatives associated with certain obstructions such as radiators and pipe chases. He further explained the construction of my house as he worked, pointing out construction details to be mindful of for future reference. There was a slight adjustment ($100) for additional work neither of us expected on account of the way the attic insulation was prepared. This was openly discussed and fairly valued. Throughout the job, Tom and his associates were professional, friendly and clean-as-you-go. Before they left they made sure the house was as dust-free as when they arrived. I can't recommend Tom highly enough. I'm VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK PERFORMED!

Very professional. A pros pro. We have an old house with a three foot wide wood cat walk in the attic that was uninsulated and the house was CHILLY. I looked at a few different insulation companies before deciding on Discount insulation based on the imfo in Angies list. We called Tom Gonzales. His initial evaluation of our homes insulation problems were what made him stand out. He is like a forensic architect. He figured out the three stages our 1925 home was built in and added on to, and where the insulation was missing ( a nice point he made was he could tell from where the snow was melting first where the heat was coming out the roof- among other things). He came in with hsi assistant and made golf ball size holes in the wall about 12 inches apart and then blew the insulation in. He called me to let me know how the job was going when he had some questions my wife couldn't answer. He made a 12inch square patch in another room where he blew insulation onto the ceiling of a room above the old garage. When he couldn't complete a small part of the job, because of access problems, he took an appropriate amount off the price. He rough patched and, as I said at our request, had his assistant come in few days later and then final patch and then a few days after that final paint the rooms. The final product is amazing. The rooms look like nothing ever happened. They were both very neat and left everything clean. They came and left on schedule. These guys have been at this for a long time and obviously take pride in there work. Best off all our home has been noticeably warmer and more comfortable. The used to be a chill upstairs that no amount of heat could fix.( I think there was actually a draft blowing through this old house.) I haven't been able to calculate the saving in fuel oil yet, but Tom gave a rough estimate of 20 to 30 percent and that sounds right from how much less I hear the boiler turn on. Most of all we all sleep better at night.
