Tom was wonderful - right at the very beginning, he advised against certain types of insulating which would not help. Instead, he guided us to take a more reasonable approach which resulted in a better solution for our problem with cold rooms in the house. He and his team were extremely professional and courteous. Most importantly, I quickly realized Tom was a man of integrity and was at ease with giving my business to him right away. I highly recommend his services for insulation and will definitely use him again for future needs in this area.

Tom came and had a detailed look. He gave a very good estimate which included a lot more work than some of the competitors. He promptly scheduled work after receiving deposit and completed work as promised. He covered hard to reach areas which others had conveniently ignored and made sure nothing was left out. We are seeing difference in comfort level in this winter He runs a small company with 3 employees including himself so he does not have too many additional costs like fancy fliers. Ultimately savings are passed to homeowners.

Tom was very responsive and punctual. Gave me an estimate off the bat after walking the house for a few minutes. Came back a few days later and finished the job in a single day.

At first it all seemed good. Tom came to my house in August and spent about 45 minutes looking at the space. Tom played up how he had over 30 years experience in the insulation business and certainly seemed to have a great deal of expertise. He gave very specific details as to what he would do--fiberglass insulation under the eaves, wrap the chimney, protect the light fixtures from the insulation he would blow in the attic, etc. There was one area where a large air handler was problematic, so he removed that from the proposal and said he would handle this in the field, but it would cost extra, which I agreed to. We spoke about this project further on the phone. He sent me the proposal and after a time I agreed to it--I didn't negotiate the price at all and sent him the 50% deposit of $1100. On the day of the job, he and his crew showed up only to leave a few minutes later with a vague explanation about not being comfortable with the job. Look--if any company doesn't want to do a job, I REALLY don't want them to do it. Totally fine. That is not the issue. But don't waste my time. I think it is completely reasonable to expect someone with over 30 years experience who spends 45 minutes in a relatively small area and offers numerous specific details about how they plan to do the job to know whether or not they actually want to do the job. Now I am back at square one 2 months later and much closer to winter. I was also unhappy with Tom's communication after this occurred. He did not answer my phone calls and finally replied to a text by saying only, "I saw too many inconsistencies while taking a second look at your insulation work and your AC install." Huh? I wrote a long reply centering around the idea that he should have noticed this when he was there checking out the job, especially given his vast experience, and got no answer. I wrote that I expected my money back and again got no answer. Two days later I again wrote asking when I would get my money back and at least got a reply and then later the check arrived 5 days after he abandoned the job. So the good news is that I didn't get scammed. Still, I found this to be a disappointing experience. I imagine we will never really know the truth about the disappearing act.

It was quick, clean, and reasonably priced. Tom did a great job and would hire him again.

Tom and crew were outstanding. They exemplify professionalism. Tom answered all my questions before and during the 2 day job and I ask a lot of questions. I concur what everybody else said on this site about Tom's pricing. He is very reasonable. I had a home energy audit done which was sponsored by NYSERTA and the competitor wanted 3 times what Tom quoted me for blown in cellulose. Although we did the job during the summer, I immediately noticed a huge improvement in sound reduction especially from our noisy garage door openers. Tom and his crew arrived on time and worked together like a machine under Tom's leadership, It is refreshing to finally work with a contractor that is not a shark. If you are contemplating Discount Insulation, do it. Guys like Tom are a rare breed in the industry and unfortunately not many of these old timers are left.

We ended up going with the company we have used once before but I would recommend Tom.

WARM! That pretty much sums it up. Our house was built in 1923, so no one really cared about insulation, which is why we had none in our home. After 4 years in the house and a brutal winter last year, my wife and I decided to get the house insulated. The problem was how you do this without tearing out the interior walls. After months of research and meeting with various contractors, we decided to hire Tom to blow in the insulation from the outside. He was honest, straight forward and walked me through the process. He even answered all of my ridiculous questions. He removed a row of vinyl siding under each window and blew in 30+ batches of insulation over 2.5 days. At first it was difficult to feel the results because we had such a non-existent winter for the month of December 2015, however, when the temp dropped to 17, I knew we made the right investment. I track everything from my NEST thermostat and noticed that the winter of 14/15, my heat would come on 3-4 times per day. That is now cut down to 1-2 times per day. At this rate, I estimated the savings from heating my house would pay for the insulating in 3.5years. Great job guys. I couldn?t be happier.

The job was neat clean and thorough. With Tom explaining every step. Remains to be seen if insulation does what is supposed to do, but it does feel better in the area under this attic.

The short- Quoted us on job for our attic in as is condition. Walked off the job with no reschedule date. The long- Had Tom over to quote us for blow in cellulose on a house we just purchased. Accepted his bid and scheduled service. The morning of they arrived and started to set up. Approximately 20 minutes later he called us outside (where we find they have packed up the truck) to tell us he wasn't doing the job. He didn't like the condition of the attic, felt it was too much of a mess and left. Tom insisted the attic didn't look like that at time of estimate however we have pictures from home inspection & other insulation company quotes that prove otherwise. He clearly wasn't paying attention when he came to review the job. Regardless, I respect him not feeling comfortable doing the work if he didn't like the debris & condition of attic. However the professional thing to do would have been to call us upstairs, show us the problems, explain his concerns and offer to return once they were rectified. Instead Tom packed up his truck and was leaving before he said anything to us. Then drove off with no offer to return.

Tom gave me a very reasonable estimate to install a thick layer of cellulose insulation in my attic, equal to R-45. He also built a small platform over the insulation for use as a storage area. They did a great job. They were punctual, clean and professional. I could feel the difference in the house immediately. Very happy. Highly recommended.

Tom is very nice and patient answering all of our questions. The job was done as expected. Used green fiber all borate cellulose. Very pleased and would definitely recommend them.

We originally gathered estimates from several companies on Angie's List two years ago however did not get the work done as other work took precedent. Tom showed up on time, demonstrated familiarity with cape homes and thoroughly explained the process. Tom did recommend that we may want to insulate the main floor of our home in the future. He was not pushy and it did feel like he was giving a sales pitch. I contacted Tom two weeks ago about the estimate he provided 2 years ago and informed him we were ready to go forward with the work. Tom came out the same week to review the work and the change in price was not too significant. The work was completed on Monday. Tom and his staff arrived on time (8:45am). They covered everything and vacuumed up once the work was done. I have a newborn and decided leave the house while they worked. Tom stated they would be done between 3-3:30. I stopped by the house twice to grab things and each time I came by they were hard at work. The work was completed on time (before 3:30) and everything was left nice and neat. The reason we decided to get insulation is that the 2nd floor of our home becomes an oven during the warm months and a freezer during the winter months. With the summer heat starting up, we are excited to feel the difference in the effectiveness of our a/c units and also the expected warmth when the winter months come as well as some savings to our bills.

Tom and his team were outstanding. The project took a day and a half. He showed up every time (the original estimate, and the two work days) right on the dot. He explained everything fully, and answered all my questions with thought, care, and expertise. He took care of every last detail. His pricing was very fair and reasonable. On the day of the service, Tom and his team arrived punctually and began working non-stop until the job was complete within the estimated time frame. Within the first evening following installation of insulation in my attic and bedroom walls, our home felt warmer. As the process went on, Tom explained to me what he and his team were doing and why they were doing it. Tom was on time, personable and thorough. We met to review the scope of the project and he explained the process. He returned to provided a written proposal and pick up a deposit. The day of the job, Tom and a crew of 2 arrived on time. They began in the attic for hours. The space between the floor and the second floor ceiling was larger than expected, but they filled it completely. Afterwards, they proceeded to blew insulation between my garage ceiling and living room floor, and behind the walls and ceiling in my den. The project took about 6 hours. They also cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased. I will definitely use them again.
